I knew something was amiss. I was scheduled for an injection on Friday and was instructed to fast beforehand. On Thursday, I called the office twice to confirm the time of my Friday appointment and left messages. No one returned my calls. Friday morning, I called again twice and left another message. Still no response. On Monday, I called to find out what had happened. Again, no return call. By Tuesday, after multiple unanswered messages, I was understandably frustrated and left a strongly worded message. Ashley then told me that I had cancelled Friday's appointment--which I absolutely had not. I called back and spoke with another staff member, who told me, "Sorry, doc is on vacation." So, I'm left wondering what actually happened. Either my appointment was cancelled because Dr. Gerges was overbooked/unavailable, or someone in the office cancelled it for another reason. What I do know is that I did not cancel it. Mistakes and scheduling problems happen. What I find unacceptable is repeatedly calling an office about a scheduled medical procedure, receiving no return calls, and then being told that I was the one who cancelled the appointment. A simple phone call explaining that the appointment needed to be rescheduled would have avoided this entire situation. read more

Bay Pines VA - Hondas and Toyotas in the doctor's parking lot. (The VA doctors are equivalent to the FSI doctors) Then 10 minutes of oceans and waterfalls on the TV screensaver in the waiting room. Florida Spine Institute - VA waiting room 11/13/25 - Orthopedists Near Me - Clearwater, Florida

A total disaster. After traveling 25 miles to go to an appointment at the spine center, my wife was told she did not have a referral. We were told the center was sent a referral from the PCP. I contacted the PCP office and had them on my phone. They refused to resolve the issue in the most rude fashion. When asked if the manager could speak to my PCP office, they said in the most unprofessional manner that I would have to wait. The PCP office said they never heard a medical staff talk like that. There were at least four other people who had the same issue and all treated in the same fashion. We walked out and will never return. read more

Considering the many different ailments and the physical condition of the patients I think the staff handles the waiting room well. The wait time is average for a practice of this size. I found Dr. Hanna to be most professional and caring at the same time. He asked pertinent questions and listened to my answers. He offered me a few solutions to my back issues and has given me time to think them through while managing my pain. read more

I was very pleased and impressed by Dr Hanna; however, I will not be returning. I will be returning to my old pain clinic even though its a far drive north. I've personally worked in a busy emergency room (ER) for several years and also a hospital/medical office setting... so I know its possible to be kind and professional even in a busy environment. This office staff has a very bad attitude from upper management on down. The front office on Drew St in Clearwater is run like a factory-experiment gone wrong and I was made to feel like the lab rat. Clinics like this one have forgotten the importance of mutual respect and necessary empathy towards all patirnts especially those in pain. This is a pain clinic btw .. so additional patience and explanation is always necessary. All humans deserve kind respectful service regardless of how busy the clinic is. I've experienced the professionalism at other medical settings/pain clinics and didn't have any complaints. Upper management must enforce professionalism and discipline poor behavior. I strongly believe this is where the problem is stemming. also... I could hear the receptionist behind the front desk commenting /complaining (under her breath) about me/patients in the waiting room ... very unprofessional. I complained while i was there to two different people so the manager told me that I was no longer welcome to return. I had valid complaints .. valid complaints doesn't warrant dismissal. I would never choose to go back there anyway.. no way. God is my witness so my path and conscious is clear. If you expect/seek a nice medical office then my suggestion is that you go elsewhere "if at all possible". Even if you must drive an hour to get there. Dr Hanna is great though.. it's an unfortunate situation really. He must have no idea of the unprofessionalism going on in this place. Right under his nose. Sorry Dr Hanna but I'll be returning to my previous clinic even though its further away. If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Hanna is by far the most unprofessional, arrogant, and predatory doctor I have ever encountered. He has absolutely no bedside manner and instead of treating patients with compassion, he chooses to belittle, accuse, and harass. Not only him, but his front desk staff are ALWAYS dismissive and flat out RUDE. One little girl rolled her eyes at me after I checked in at the given day & time THEY told me, yet THEY scheduled it wrong. After being a patient for years, I tested positive on a drug screen for another substance and negative for my prescribed substance? My family is Mexican, I got some meds OTC from Mexico (which were cheaper for me as I'm on a budget). Regardless of it being my fault for taking a pill from a country known to mix with other substances, it made no sense as to why I tested negative for the medication from him. Instead of communicating like a professional or showing the slightest ounce of empathy, he blindsided me with accusations of substance abuse and pill OVERUSE. Mind you, if I was overusing & an "addict" like his staff & him claimed, why would it take me two & a half months to go back & see him? He NEVER clearly explained what he wanted or gave me a fair chance to retest the same day. I sat in that clinic for nearly 3 hours, drove 35 minutes home, so AN HOUR ROUNDTRIP, that's 4 hours out of the middle of the day-- my working business hours which I was only supposed to take a "long lunch." After finally getting home after being belittled by the most vain man on Earth, I get a call saying I need to return for another test. When I explained I had work and just lost 4 hours of my day, (also it was already 3pm & they closed at 5pm & traffic always gets worse the later it is)? all the woman said was "okaaaay... I'll tell Dr. Hanna." Also, I stubbed my toe which is why I decided to make my appt with them because two birds one stone. I'm an ER nurse & knew I could at least treat it myself, so it wouldn't get infected, but I wanted them to check it out. I showed that dumb a** PA & she said to go to the ER it's infected So I got all the way home, was in immense pain, and talked to them on the phone about not being able to return, I went to the ER & the ER Doctor said no you're not infected in the slightest but gave me antibiotics. I don't even know if that PA even communicated to Dr. Hanna that she instructed me to go to the ER. Anyways, I called two days later to say I hadn't heard from them, asked what I needed to do, and she said Dr. Hanna refuses to treat me now. Despite knowing me my ENTIRE life, instead of asking questions or trying to understand the situation, he immediately refused to treat me further. His words were cruel, accusatory, and demeaning. To make matters worse, this is a man with a long-standing reputation for hiring primarily young women, making inappropriate comments, and engaging in behavior that would get any ethical physician investigated. Not only is he unprofessional, but he's a terrible man who degrades his own family to his staff members. Yet he has the audacity to claim I'm a risk while he himself is a known creep and hypocrite. Dr. Hanna does not care about his patients. He only cares about control, money, and stroking his own ENORMOUS FREAKING EGO. His behavior is harmful, predatory, and unethical. If you value your health, sanity, and dignity, avoid Dr. Hanna at all costs. read more

The waiting room is very big. There are a couple TVs on the wall to watch. The front staff is always friendly and quick checking you in. The medical assistants are all compassionate. I've seen the PA's and Dr Hanna. They answer all your questions and make sure you understand a treatment plan. I have CRPS and Dr Hanna has helped control my pain. I highly recommend this office for any kind of pain. You won't find better care and staff anywhere else. The office manager Loretta is so sweet, caring and thoughtful. Block out 2-3 hours of your day to be seen here.. 12:30 appt and not seen even at 13:45.. they have no respect for patients time.. then they call you and talk down to you because you walked out after waiting 2 hours to see a PA for a prescription refill.. like the 4 hours I drove for the appointment wasn't long enough as is.. I asked if I was 1 1/2 hours late would doctor still see me?? They said "NO".. so why is his time more important than the patients?? This place is the worst. I've been coming here for two years now due to necessity, but the way this place runs is an absolute JOKE. When you're there it feels like the sheer focus for the business motto is straight-up volume, and you feel like cattle being herded through the process. And the real kicker is: I've seen the doctor ONCE in my two years coming here. Otherwise all you see are these physician assistant babies who are fresh out of med school and don't have any real expertise in my pain problem. Nobody in this office gives a shit about anything, including ensuring your patient care is handled properly. My appointment literally takes 5 mins every month, yet I sit there waiting a minimum of 1-2 hours EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. When you first walk in you'll usually notice a full waiting room. I don't even want to know how many patients they book an hour. They'll call 5-8 people into the back at once and assign everyone a room. It's just like herding cattle. Once you're in a room the next step is a helper comes in to do blood-pressure, etc... then the PA comes in to discuss your meds or see if you want injections, etc (side note: they do MASS quantities of injections here). The average time I wait is usually 1.5-2 hours. I'm not even convinced they go in order of appointment times. My last appointment I sat there for TWO HOURS before the Physician's assistant came in. This is how it always is. This isn't an off day. It's ALWAYS an exorbitant wait. Nobody gives a shit here. It's all just a constant, all-day hustle from room to room. From the outside looking in, it appears that the staff busts their a$$es so that the doctors can fill their pockets. I have no doubt that most employees here are miserable. It definitely feels like more of a business than an actual medical office. I moved here from Illinois a few years back and I have been so disappointed to find out how the healthcare in FL is a joke. It's all focused on money-making rather than true patient care. It's one of my biggest complaints about the state as a whole. Front desk doesn't care. Nurses don't care. Office Manager doesn't care. Everyone here is miserable and has no compassion for what the patients go through wasting hours of their life waiting at these visits. On my last visit where I waited 2 hours, I tried to notify three different people, and got the same response from each one: - the first girl i saw in hallway, had scrubs on, tried to ask if she could figure out when I'd be seen and she just rolled her eyes and brushed me off and kept walking - the second girl was one of the 'helpers' and she also just seemed annoyed that I was even asking and her response to me was exasperated. As if i were the one putting HER out! - and the third was the PA who finally came in. And as soon as I brought it up she was super-snarky and told me that I was welcome to find a different doctor. SERIOUSLY?!? That's your response? Your office runs like shit, you don't seem to care or have any compassion for what your so-called patients are going through, and instead of being apologetic you tell me to go find another doctor? Disgusting. Another super frustrating complaint is the back-office. A few times my insurance has required the "pre-authorization" forms for my meds. The pharmacy faxes them immediately upon getting your scripts, but it's truly amazing (sarcasm) at how FSI never seems to get them while all other doctor offices do! Twice now, my pre-auth form has been ignored and not sent back and I've had to go without my pain medication for a day because of their error! Absolutely unacceptable. My previous pain doc (Illinois) who i saw for 12 years never missed one!! Not one. They'd get the faxes & have it sent back w/in 2 hours, and they'd email you (via their portal) to inform you it was taken care of. Again, this place is a joke. They pretend they never got the fax, allow you to go without your meds suddenly (dangerous), and then blame it on Walgreens. And you can't get a hold of anyone on the weekend. So yeah it's great that i"m getting my meds because i couldnt survive without them, however the whole point of having a pain doctor is to get fresh new ideas of tests and treatment options and what-not. Seeing the doctor once in two years isn't exactly helpful. Overall: it just seems like they're focused on being able to bill as many patients per day as possible, with the least amount of interactions. There's no real patient care. There's no office process. the office ladies are quite often bitchy as hell. Nobody cares. You have to wait forever. And plan on them f*cking up any paperwork with prior-auths. Shame on me for wanting better. The sad thing is, it's really hard to find true pain doctors so I don't know that I have many options in terms of finding other doctors. I have been coming to Dr Hanna for over twenty years. The older reviews are true. Before DR Hanna moved into his own office it was a nightmare! I don't think it was something they could help at the time. In the new office I have never waited more than 15 minutes to get called back. NEVER heard snarky remarks for the office women. They are kind and they actually have to deal with a lot! And, no, you probably won 't see Dr Hanna, you will see a PA. If you ask you can see him but expect to wait awhile. If you are there for a refill why do you need to see him? I love this clinic. I am treated with kindness and respect every time I come in. read more

Florida spine institute also has a pain management section which is where we go to once a month. Every time we get there, everyone is always upbeat and friendly, and also very helpful. It looks like it must be a nice place to work because they're always laughing and having fun. Not to the point where they're not taking care of business or taking care of patients, but just upbeat and having a good day. I can appreciate that because That creates a welcoming atmosphere for the employees and the patients. They've also been very good as far as handling my pain medication and pain needs. Going the extra mile setting up extra things like an epidural and looking into other possibilities. I had a stroke back in October and let me tell you nobody wants to give you pain medication for anything. (At least pain medication that's going to work.) Thank you to the doctors and the staff at the spine institute of Florida. They can also do MRIs , epidurals, etc right on site on their campus, which is wonderful not to have to travel all over the county to do things. One site. I moved from New York City to Florida with my son approximately 20 years ago. I still remember the day when our lives were changed after our car was slammed from behind by a young teenage driver. I was told by the paramedics that had I have looked in my rear view mirror and saw this massive truck about to hit our car, my injuries would have been much more significant. My son was resilient (thank G_D) and I began my journey. After four failed back surgeries, 15 screws, 2 cadavers, multiple fusions and numerous ablations, I was told to seek out a Pain Management Physician. Dr. Hanna was the angel sent from above!!! He and his staff has helped me throughout these years. Yes, I do have to wait to be seen ( somedays longer than others), however, due to the rise in opioid abuse, it is mandated that a patient be seen monthly for medication refills. It is not the doctor's fault, nor the fault of the staff. Those who continue to complain and whine about their long wait time should see if the grass is greener someplace else. Sometimes after constant complaining heard day after day, some staff may too feel overwhelmed. Everyone has an "off day" now and then....please try to put yourselves in their shoes. I bring headphones or speak to other patients; you'll be amazed how quickly time flies when you keep yourself busy while waiting. Dr. Hanna is a phenomenal physician and his staff (more than the majority of them) are amazing. My advise to those who complain about time... bring a book, listen to music or a pod cast or better yet, speak to someone seated nearby. Time flies and your experience might be better. read more

I have fractured discs (T8-T10) and went for pain management. I am not sure which is worse, having to make a "special" appointment to see the doctor, otherwise you see one of twenty-some PAs. Or the taking 10 patients at a time back to their perspective rooms. Or making me go through useless injections, to finally receive two oblations that didn't work, and stop mid treatment because insurance won't pay for more this year. Or the surprise bill you receive a year later for the anesthesiologist (they make you be sedated for the injections, where I was awake for previous ones). All of that for no progress. I fault the way the business is run, as the people were great (just mislead). Now after the storm (literally Helene), I have added more injury to insult and I am looking for another "Institute" to waste another couple of years at. Update. Now that ketamine treatment for depression is available more widely, I will update my review to re-affirm - do not go here. This is a ketamine treatment factory. They don't care about you as a patient, zero follow-up, zero support. I was incapacitated for two weeks and went through a lot of financial, logistical, and personal headache to get this treatment. No one can guarantee outcome of treatment of course but it is just not worth being treated this way. Go somewhere else that will care about you as a human being. read more

The worse experience I've ever had attempting to get a procedure scheduled. The office staff is consistently unorganized and can't seem to get it together. I've overlooked it during my two previous office visits however today I was supposed to arrive at 1:15 for a procedure after being told to fast for 8 hours only to be told they couldn't see me as they hadn't received authorization from my insurance. My appointment was confirmed twice over the phone yesterday and I was assured I was good to go for surgery today. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this practice. Shame because the doctor really is a nice man but they need some work on their office staff. read more

Florida Spine Institute is all inclusive medical center dealing with all things orthopedic and including pain management. Since July 2018 Florida law makes it mandatory for anyone in need of pain management to go to a designated pain management center. No longer can your primary physician order opiates for long-term use for chronic pain. Unless of course they want to jump through the hoops that the state of Florida has set up for them. Since I have chronic knee and hip pain, my primary Doctor recommended this pain clinic. Of course when you first start going to any new clinic or doctor you have a lot of paperwork to get through. Then you have to submit a urine test. After that you get to go up to the second floor by elevator and wait until your name is called. That second floor is in my opinion very dreary, with no windows. It seats about 25 people, and at times there are so many people in the room, people have to stand while waiting to be called. Once called in to the treatment area, you are seen by an Aid Who takes your blood pressure and asks you a few questions. After that you are seen by a nurse practitioner who will give you your prescription for your 30 day supply of pain pills. At this point you are also asked if you need any injections. The whole process takes anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. read more

My rating remains at 5 stars for Dr Gergus, I have EDS (autoimmune disease affecting all the collagen in your body) and of course a host of accompanying problems ie cervical and thoracolumbar Radiculopathy, muscle spasms, Spinal Enthesopathy, Sacroiliitis, Spondylolisthesis, Right Posterior ileal Rotation, Somatic Dysfuntion (impaired or altered function related to framework) Cervical, Lumbar, Pelvic, Sacral, Head and Lower Extemeties....and that's not all folks; but my arm is going numb ( yep Nerve Presses on Spinal Code)...oh and the latest Trochanter Bursitis...I always see Dr Gergus for Adjustment secondary to Mal-alignment of my Right Ilium...I am so very thankful for Dr Gergus and his Staff who always treat me with courtesy and respect, He keeps me walking and gives me the ability to do basic household tasks. I even walk Roscoe ( my Rescue Dog) after taking a pain pill of course. I read through some reviews; seems Dr Gergus always gets 5 stars..I would give the Clinic an overall rating and then break the reviews down by Doctor.. Thanks, btw I'm 65 yrs old, Medically retired from the Federal Government after 22 yrs of Service and 10 at Rush Pres....yes the visit is time consuming but well worth it. Thank you read more

I went here for treatment of CRPS. They were very nice at first, but when the treatments didn't work for me I was treated very poorly. A person that works for the doctor, Loretta, was very rude and verbally abusive to me. I was seriously injured, due to their medication and I had very bad after care. Phone calls were never returned and you have to wait hours and hours for mediocre care. I would never recommend this place, they treat patients very poorly here and you're nothing but a paycheck for them. read more

Very slow ... gf has an appt which they are extremely late for ... crazy! I took a friend here not even for me and we actually reported to them a female was in the washroom and making very concerning noises. Eventually a male staff came over and tapped on the door not even loud enough for a mouse to hear. He proceeded to shrug his shoulders and walk away ... thank god she was ok My friend was called into a room from the waiting room where she proceeded to wait another 40 minutes. A procedure in her middle back ... she had a slip and fall that apparently caused the muscles to let go of the vertebrae.... I asked her if she felt better she said no worse and that wasn't the area that was even causing the issue. She also reported this to the surgeon and she said I tried to tell you it was more in my tail bone region ... An assistant came in and bent her leg in a strange position which almost made her jump off the table in pain ... The surgeon has now decided maybe they worked in a wrong area.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? No one will touch my back surgically unless they are 250% they won't paralyse me or make me worse read more

OK, I'm confused with all the bad reviews. I chose them because they were the closest one that were on network with my insurance and was concerned with all the reviews. I had an appointment set for Monday. Thu before, I came in to sign release of medical records forms and told them I was in real pain and asked if anything was available sooner. The 2 women at the front desk were very nice and sympathetic to my situation and called to see what they could do. My appt was with Dr. Greges, and I could tell they were trying to fit me in somewhere. They finally said if I could wait, he would see me that same day, but it could be a while. I told them that would be great, and was thankful. I filled out all the forms, and they sent me to next building over. I did have to wait a few hours, but again, since I didn't have an appointment, I was thankful. Dr. Greges finally came in, and he had already reviewed all my information, including the MRI I had provided. He was very informative, quick, and to the point, but still very friendly. You could tell he knew what he was talking about. He said he would have to check with my insurance to see how quickly he could schedule my procedure and would be right back. He wasn't gone 5 minutes until he returned to tell me he could do it the next day. The place was packed with people, so they are very busy, and am shocked and so grateful they were able to fit me in as I was in a lot of pain. Had procedure the next day without any issues, and feel 100% better. I will need another which I expected and Dr. Greges told me it would probably require. Called back following Mon and was able to schedule follow up for Thu. So far, my experience could not have been better. I will update as I keep going, but seems like they probably made some changes since last reviews, because my experience was spectacular to say the least. I highly recommend them. read more

I have been going there for years, while the C med nurses are awesome the front desk girls are soooo rude! The biggest issue is the wait times that have gotten absolutely ridiculous. If you don't get the first spot in the morning you will be there for 3-4 hours waiting. I was told that after they moved it would be better since they would have more space. I. Wish e they would hire more PA's. 3 hour wait for prescription refill is ridiculous. I won't get injections there anymore because of the wait time, as I would just add more time. Going to file a complaint with the state at this point. People with spine issue shouldn't be made to wait in those chairs for that long!! read more

Dr Hannas PAs are the worst. Staff put you in a small room, no TV just videos of him, and leave you there for hours. Average is 3 hrs wait, at 3.5 hrs I txt my wife saying going nuts in here, nurse came in at 3.5 hrs to get vitals, told her by 4 hrs I'm gone, PA never came to give me MRI results, I left. Talked with nurse next day, she rudely argued that long waits are normal. Talked with ofc Mgr, but no apology. Crazy insurance scheming place. Don't go there. read more

I have been going to FSI for 2 years because finally someone was able to control my severe daily headaches. I dont take control substances, they prescribed Aimovig and Botox. I didnt even complain about having to spend all day there at my appointments. But this has absolutely put me over the edge, I could not get into to see them until 1/24 and my Aimovig monthly injections ran out 1/1. I called to see if they would call in just 1 dose and THE EXTREMELY RUDE INSENSATIVE NURSE DONNA absolutely refused saying they will not refill an RX because they only give 90 rxs. I explained that this is a maintenance drug and I have to have it monthly. She said I TOLD YOU THAT YOU CANT HAVE IT! Well I have now had a headache for a solid week! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCARING ESPECIALLY DONNA!!! I will be reporting her to the board of nursing! read more

Florida Spine Institute did an amazing job fixing my back but when I went yesterday for my 2 week check up I was lectured by Dr B he said he staff told him I caused a scene in the waiting room swearing at them NOT TRUE! Watch yourself with his check in girls they LIE about everything. Dr. Hanna , all the infusion nurses ( especially Jenn ) , Melanie in scheduling and Russ Physical Therapy all go above and beyond in patient care. If you have chronic pain, CRPS this is the place to be. They become your second family. Granted if your there for an office visit - yes, you'll most likely be there for 2 hours. Take this into consideration they see a majority of chronic pain patients because their The Best. Wait times here are excruciating!!!! Once you make it past the wait at the front desk on the first floor you're given paperwork to sit and wait on the second floor in bldg 4 I write this review as i go and I'm currently sitting in the exam room and 3 hrs have elapsed so far. LOL... Medical assistant came in to do pre exam questions to be expected and then asks if I'd be open to any possible treatments done in office today while I'm here. I informed him that after being here 3 hrs already i am not open to any treatments ‍‍‍ 3hrs 15 mins and a fellowship Doctor enters for i guess a pre-exam exam... Says Dr Hanna should be in shortly. I'm not a fan of spending more than half a work day in a doctor's office so this will NOT be happening again The ONLY good thing so far is every staff member i have dealt with has been very polite ** Here for my follow-up 30 days later and at 845am Dr Hanna is already more than an hour behind *** 10am and still waiting read more

Unless you have plenty of time on your hands, I would stay away. My first visit included waiting 3 hours to see the doctor. The total time with the doctor was about 10 minutes. This time I left after almost two hours without seeing the doctor. Very unprofessional and no consideration for patients time. I will not return to this facility. read more
