Alice was found by referral, and she did a fabulous job! Alice did the alterations for my wedding dress, and the final fitting was PERFECT. The dress fit like a glove :) Alice was professional, accomodating and flexible with respect to making appointments, and was extremely efficient -- she actually got the alterations done earlier than expected :) Alice got my alterations done in about 3 visits over 5 weeks (2 fittings + final pick up). Finally, her quotes were reasonable, especially for wedding dress work, and I was very pleased with her work. My dress was lace, and required hemming, was taken in at hip and waist, and wed added a bustle. The quote would depend on how much work is needed and the material to be working with, but overall, I think Alice charged a fair and reasonable price, as bridal stores would definitely charge you more. Bridal stores are also less flexible with respect to scheduling appointments and deadlines, as you would be scheduled in with many many other brides. Alice is incredibly talented at her job! She has worked on two dresses for me. One a cocktail, flirty style dress, and the other other a long bridesmaids gown for my sisters wedding. I was unsure whether the bridesmaids dress would be alterable because of all of the ruching in the dress, which needed taking in around the bust. Needed an emergency alteration on a bridesmaid's dress. Alice saw me on short notice (within a few hours) and provided very quick service. I had my dress' seams taken out and loosened so that I would fit in it, and the length shortened. This is an alteration I couldn't do on my own as it was complicated. Alice is great! She hems my casual pants, Euro (original) hems my jeans, and shortens my sport shirts so I can wear them untucked. She does a great job on all my clothes. I had bought my prom dressed and wanted both my slits to be hemmed a bit + get my dress shortened at the front. Alice is honestly a sweetheart, she is very kind and her set up in her basement is beautiful. She charged me $50 in total, which I felt was reasonable and she really made generous. I presented her the great challenge of modifying my size 12 dress to size 4 and the dress was covered in lace and jewel patches.
