They fixed multiple of my favorite clothing items! Everything came back perfect and I'm very happy with it. They replaced a zipper on my favorite jean shorts, the strap on a wedding guest dress, and fixed one of my favorite pleather shirts by redoing the stitching. I had my wedding dress altered at Alice's and it was the best decision I could have made. After some dress drama with the bridal salon, I took my dress here with about 5 weeks until my wedding. Kathy assured me that it would be done it time and that I would be happy with the result. My dress was a very intricate lace and I was nervous about it not being altered correctly, after my first fitting I knew everything would be perfect. Sean is meticulous. Every appointment that I had up until my last one, if he saw something that didn't sit quite right he would adjust it. The final result was a dress that fit me like a glove. Not only did they manage to get my dress ready on a time crunch, they were able to alter it while maintaining the beautiful lace details throughout. The neckline, the sleeves, and the bottom of the dress required alterations. They added a beautiful bustle that was easy to use. They really took the time to listen to what I wanted, they were honest about what could and couldn't be done, and they were always welcoming and warm. When I needed help with a dress that showed a bit too much cleavage, they helped me again. I had previously asked another tailor, but what they styled looked like an awkward modesty panel and not at all as we discussed. After their excellent work on my wedding dress, I brought the problematic dress to Alice's, and we brainstormed. I took a couple items in to be repaired , a new zipper for a pair of jeans and a strap on a shell needed to be sewed back in place. When I arrived they let me know the zipper was in facet not broken so they didn't replace it just showed me how it wasn't broken. I went to Alice's for alterations for my wedding dress and they did a wonderful job and made me feel so welcome in their store! Kathy was very kind and willing to work with me and my budget! This is not a "cheap" place for wedding dress alterations (I had a huge and detailed dress so it wasn't easy) but, you get what you pay for because they are very knowledgeable and did a great job. She gave me tips and recommended some changes such as adding silicone on the straps which were scratching me and falling off and it was so comfortable after that! My husband and I got married this year but postponed our reception to next year so I get to wear my dress again and I felt the dress was too long. When I called to tell them I felt it was too long, they quickly got me back in and made the dress shorter without charging me. Great service! Lastly, due to COVID, we needed masks and they made a mask that perfectly matched my dress and I brought in the groomsmen's ties and they made masks that complimented them. I brought my Maid of Honor dress here mainly because they are local (always looking to support local business) and they were the only alterations place in the area with a website. Sounds kind of strange but I think in 2019 it's weird that a business not have some kind of online presence. Anyway, I came in on a Thursday because that is their late night and felt very comfortable that my dress would be altered property and turn out looking wonderful. I don't know his name but the man that does all the alterations actually creates clothing from scratch which is how I knew I was in good hands. The turnaround was one week and just like I had predicted, the dress looked absolutely amazing. The price was a little high ($120) but he did shorten the dress quite a bit (and it had a train) and brought in the top. Recently, I needed to get a few pairs of jeans shorten (sensing a pattern?) and I thought Alice's would be more expensive but after doing some research they are priced competitively at $14 for a regular hem and $20 for the waist. I dropped my jeans off on a Saturday and picked them up the following Wednesday and they, again, looked perfect. I am glad this place is so conveniently located close to my house and that I am able to support a small business in Berkley. read more

Unfortunately my wedding dress shop's owners retired and it closed well before my big day (December 2018), so I had to go elsewhere for alterations. Sean does a great job fitting the dress to you and his wife (I cannot remember her name - Kathy?) is so personable and friendly. She gives you the honest mom opinion when you need one - which was extremely helpful with my mom living out of state and unable to attend every appointment. I also had a bustle added and the only downfall was during the night it came undone a few times while dancing. I was recommended this place by a friend so I tried it out. They did a great job hemming my dress, however when I picked it up I was charged $70. Granted it was a gown for a wedding and had two layers but I still thought that was too expensive. I paid it anyways only to find out another bridesmaid was charged the same price but had also had her dress let out. When I called to ask what this would cost I was told between $40-$60 (no more than 60). I then asked why I was charged $70. No answer given but was willing to refund me $10. This was not a normal visit, I bought a gorgeous very intricately decorated dress that had rhinestones everywhere. The shop I bought it from included alterations but they didn't mention I would have to come back everyday for a week. (This place is 22 min from my house). I took the dress and brought it here for advice on what to do and they helped me more in 15 min then the people I actually spent money to dress me 3 weeks ago. All in all they gave me advice and a list of things to tell these people to fix. The owners wife is right.
