I don't get things altered much. This is probably my second time ever? My first time here though and I chose it because of the name to be honest. Super cute. I came in and it's a decent sized place. I got my denim skort taken in around the waist. She told me her thoughts about taking it in because one way would've made it looked weird. She definitely knows what she was doing and I was happy how it came out. I brought it in on a Monday and she said to pick up Friday but I just told her I will pick it up the following Monday. Fabulous job! Had ordered a dress online, for my daughters first homecoming dance. When it arrived, it was huge and the company was giving us the run around about exchanging it. We were running out of time. Found this wonderful woman on Yelp and her reviews were great. Took a chance. Had the dress back in a week. She pretty much remade the top of the dress and only charged $50! Now we can take advantage of lower cost, online dresses and have them fixed. I called in a rush to have a gown tailored , I was told to come in right away after two other shops turned me down due to the time frame . I was pinned quickly that same day and asked to come back for a semi fitting the next day to make sure she got the dress right prior to finishing it . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Needle Nook for seamstress work. Ask for MARIA. She is the owner, professional, honest and a very kind woman. She was able to hem my curtains and customize some curtain panels with finished edges within 24 hours! I gave her 2 yards, which was enough to execute the job. She said to call her the next day (Friday) when she "cuts" for the prep to see if its enough material or not. Maria quoted 2 days for the job to be complete. When i called on Friday, she was able to complete the job! I was shocked in a very good way!!!! The customized curtain panels are PERFECT as well as the hemmed curtains. She actually had material left and gave me the scraps, along with a finished edge strip of material good enough to be a table runner! Yes, out of her kindness she did that!!! Maria of Needle Nook is a fantastic seamstress! Now, the first seamstress I took it to was closer to me, but she told me the dress couldn't be altered and I needed to buy a new dress. I ignored her and instead followed my neighbor's recommendation and drove out to Needle Nook. Maria examined the dress very carefully and was able to place the corset in such a way that it looked like part of the original design of the dress. She still does great work, but the last time I picked up a dress from her, she told me I had to pay an extra $20 because it was more work than she thought. She also charged me extra because she steamed it, which I told her I didn't need because the dress was going into my suitcase anyways and I'd need to have it dry cleaned. I happily paid because she does great work, but I was a little annoyed at the add ons before asking me. read more

My first experience here was to get a bridesmaids dress altered. While I only needed this hemmed and there wasn't any extensive alterations that had to be made, the overall experience was good. Came in on a Saturday close to 3pm, and Maria accommodated me even though she was about to close. She had me put on the dress, wear the shoes I'd be wearing the day of the wedding, had me stand on the pedestal in front of the three way mirror, and in less than five minutes I was done and changing out of the gown. All pretty standard stuff! She told me she'd have it done in about a week, and told it would be $45 dollars upon pick up! She was quick, sweet, and to the point! Dress was hemmed perfectly upon pick up a week later, so no complaints here. While I do love and miss my tailor in Birmingham, this is a welcome change since she's so much closer to where I live now. I'll have to bring her a dress that needs a bit more work and update my review from there! read more

Excellent service. I came in and had an evening gown that I needed taken in and hemmed in less than 48 hours and because I was a first-time customer, she delivered and did a great job! I took my romper to Maria to alter, when i dropped it off she was short and seemed as though i was interrupting her. She told me it would be ready by Friday I went to pick it up, she could not find then, she blamed me because I did not tell her what she was looking for was long, WTF?? She told me the cost so I tried to pay with my card as she NEVER told me she only excepts cash. My husband and I came her looking for a talented seamstress that understood alternative body shape. My husband is very muscular and very skinny so it's hard to get suits to fit him.
