I think we had a total of 6-7 classes, but after the second class, we had the entire routine down - it was all just about perfecting it. Lucia came up with the entire dance, after we expressed our song and vision to her. She even edited the music. She was so friendly, her schedule was so flexible, and she took advantage of each minute of every class. We really lucked out with her. She is so incredibly talented, and it shows. Our wedding was about a month ago and people don't stop talking about our first dance. The choreography was so amazing. It should also be noted that neither myself not my husband are dancers in any way! Thank you Lucia! Do not think twice about using her for your first dance choreography. Our friends are going to use her too!

The thing I love most about there is that they have is tic toes that will teach you the skills and the foundations do dance while still making it fun. I need a balance of technique and fun and they deliver! I have had the esteemed pleasure of working with and competing with many of the instructors, I've learned a multitude of dances, had incredible support and the most fun I've had pretty much anywhere. Dance itself can be almost addictive once you jump in and boy what better place to get those endorphins in while learning than at a place like this? I went from knowing virtually nothing and feeling very overwhelmed (in a good way) about any partner style dance, (I also didn't have a background in other forms of dance) and threw myself in entirely to then be at my first salsa competition a year later. I'm so glad I made that investment. I've warned lifelong friends and memories. They have knowledgeable teachers, kind staff, a wonderful space and always something fun going on. I have worked with the owner, Raul, the amazing Artem, the show stopping Yesenia, the bubbly Deana, the sassy Jackie and many others during my time there. The knowledge and experience I now possess makes me feel comfortable in most dance settings, socially or otherwise. If you're looking for a place to learn and have fun...this is it!

Click on "faculty and staff." You'll see nobody listed because practically all their staff have quit. It's a toxic environment where the directors and teachers treat dancers with disdain. They make comments on what the young girls are eating (that's a major red flag at a dance studio). It's a very sad decline. They used to put on a production of the Nutcracker at the Alex Theater in Glendale. It was glorious. That was before Covid. Now they put on a small family only production in a little theater in Northridge. They used to have many dancers winning competitions. Now they barely have anyone even qualified to enter competitions. It's a very sad state of affairs with many dancers going to much better, growing dance studios in the area. I'd be surprised if LABA is still operating later this year. So sad to see it fall from grace. I guess all good things come to an end.

My daughter attended the acting classes for a while, and ultimately it left something to be desired. Pros: * Friendly, professional staff. * Productions are nicely done * Makeup classes allowed * Clean facility * Convenient parking Cons: * Pricey for what's offered * No proper script book--only printed pages (my daughter now does theater elsewhere and receives full script books) * We never received any instructor feedback about our child's progress * Productions are extremely short--some felt only 15-20 minutes long. Family and friends would comment on why so short. * The fees to participate in the shows and ticket prices for the productions are high considering how brief the shows are I wasn't expecting Broadway level acting classes but did expect a bit more. In the end, it felt more like a money grab than a meaningful learning experience, so we decided to stop attending.

We had to switch classes for scheduling reasons and are currently with Miss Emily. She's very engaging with both the students and the parents. She makes sure to keep us all informed about what our little ones are learning, even giving feedback and updates on progress. The customer service has been very top notch too. Most inquiries or requests for rescheduling has been handled quite promptly and without issue. The most recent one being helping a fellow mom take advantage of the "bring a friend to class" promotion the studio was running last month. The studio admin, Sydney, was great and handled everything! We've participated in one recital so far. Sign ups for recitals are optional, so I did not know what to expect, but I certainly didn't think that my daughter was the only one from her class that signed up. My other guess is that not many other girls from that age group signed up either, as she had to perform with just one other student who she didn't know. It was not a long performance, which was to be expected. We're unsure as to why the littlest ones went first, as they set the tone for the rest of their peers, giving the impression that going up on stage has to be a daunting and traumatizing experience. It was my daughter's first time on stage, so I can't say it went fantastically, but I also can't put too much blame on anyone else for that. If anything, it just means she needs to have more classes so she can get better! I can't seem to find out if there are any offers to provide discounts for sibling sign ups, so I hope you guys consider doing something like that in the future!

My background is in education and I have worked at elementary, middle, and high school levels as well as a kid's soccer coach so I have some context for how easy/tough it is to teach classes. Our ballet teacher was Ms. Natalie and my wife and I both thought she had a very caring demeanor for working with children. That is something you don't teach. Even though a 1.5 year old can't listen to direction the way a 3, 4, or 5 year old can Ms. Natalie adapted well and tried different things to get our daughter's attention. The studio is nice and well decorated. Parking is easy in the shopping center. We definitely intend on going back. We had a great experience.

When I was looking for a space to rent in the Sherman Oaks area for a dance comprised of 11 adult contemporary dancers, I knew I needed a space that offered plenty of room, a sprung wood or Marley floor, a good sound system, availability and some flexibility with scheduling. After contacting nearly many studios between Encino and North Hollywood, I remembered that I had once worked with a friend who had brought me into the studio years ago. I called the number online and the owner picked up. Anisa offered to meet me right away since I was close by. She gave me a tour and I was incredibly impressed. She has two spacious studios, one with a sprung wood floor and another with a Marley floor, I opted for the larger studio with the sprung wood floor. It reminded me of the studios I've seen in New York. Equipped with a professional sprung floor, high ceilings, about 2000 sq. ft. of space, a viewing room, a prop/costume room within the studio itself, an entire wall of mirrors, and a great sound system, I was certain the rental rate would be out of my budget. After we talked for a bit about the time and dates I'd need to rent out the studio to complete my dance, she quoted me a rate that was not only competitive with nearly every other studio I had looked into renting, she also let me know about the easy payment options she offered. I have choreographed five more dances since that time and whenever I need a rehearsal studio, I contact Anisa. She is kind and considerate and all around a lovely person. I enjoy working with her and can't wait to start work on my next dance! If you are a choreographer looking for a space where you can create your next dance, I recommend Anisa's School of Dance without the slightest hesitation. And, when I have a chance, I'm definitely going to give her Belly Dance classes a try as I've heard her students rave about them. Thank you Anisa! You gave me the space and time I needed to create some great dances without added stress and the kind of professional customer service that is becoming harder and harder to find these days. I can't wait to get back into your studio!

*I hope Yelp won't delete my review, as they are known to delete bad reviews*…read more The owner tried to convince us that our child needed more than just one lesson per week (ideally 3x according to him) because they claimed to be a professional institution. So, I enrolled my daughter in two lessons per week. Instead of learning proper foundations or techniques, she would spend the first hour doing conditioning exercises, and during the second hour, the theater program kids would join the class. That second hour was mainly used to rehearse choreography for their theater productions. Your child would receive even less attention, especially during the weeks leading up to the opening of a show. I honestly felt scammed. On top of that, the main roles in their theater productions seem to be dominated by the theater director's siblings. In case you don't know, when auditioning for a theater company, the casting directors usually want to hear you sing first, once you pass the singing audition, they want to see how well you can dance and then evaluate your acting last. But that didn't seem to be the case with their theater program. This is why their theater program is not growing! The heart of musical theather is singing. At $400 per month and four months to complete the production, you can find a much more affordable and better production, and most importantly, a FAIR opportunity for every child. I took my daughter out of this school and enrolled her in a different one. I was surprised by how different the approach was at the new school compared to The Grand Academy of Ballet. Yes, parking is terrible!
