I had a great experience with Dr. Alikhani... until my dental insurance changed and she charged both my previous dental insurance and my new dental insurance for the same procedures! Now I have my previous dental insurance company asking for money that they were charged when they were no longer my provider and Dr. Alikhani is telling me to ignore them, and that they will go away, but I'm starting to get calls from collections... and so I'm sure that's gonna have an effect on my credit! I wish I could give her a NO STAR rating. Dr. Alikahi is a sweet lady in person. She did a good job with my filling. However, she has horrible business and customer service. She is in the First Dental Health network, and when it came to insurance and payment she began to quote prices when we are 100% covered. She told me to call my insurance and that she would call too, etc. etc. and she never got back to me. I had to pursue her. And when does a hang up phone call count as leaving a message??? hmm? so unprofessional! Her office assistants/ baby sitters (they watch her kid in office too) are completely clueless and basically don't take initiative for anything. They seem to need a lot of coaching from Dr. Alikhani when it came to holding instruments too.... Cheap labor I guess.. She gave me numerous procedure codes for me to call and check on. Since when was that patients responsibility? Total double talker, telling me should would check too, and never did... No common sense at all. Lazy. Waste of air. She also cancelled an appointment without any reason. Hello? Simple business answer would be " there was a conflict in schedule and I am unable to see you as scheduled" yeah.... write it down..keep it by your phone...DENTAL OFFICE! not "um...your appointment has been canceled....yeah..it's been canceled, and I'm calling to let you know it's been canceled" damn.... After being fed up with the constant back and forth about insurance, and Dr. Alikhani unable to give me clear answers, I finally requested for my x-rays and then she gave me a loop-dee-loop answer once again. First I explained that I would be willing to pay for the copies of the x-rays, then she said "it depends how many copies you need, if i can even make copies.." then i said "well I want the whole family's" Dr: " well I can't do that...I'm getting ready to see a patient right now, we're going to have continue this conversation another time..." me: so are you going to call me back? Dr.: "regarding what?" I couldn't help but laugh in discontent. I'm filing a complain to the Dental Board of California, and I encourage everyone who has a bad experience with her to file a complaint too. First Dental Health said they can only tell her to be nicer, and have better customer service but as long as they file their claims in correctly she will continue to be part of their network. However, if there are enough complains about this Dentist, perhaps the Board will investigate her practice. Do not go here.. OR if you do....Know every single detail of your insurance and do not pay her "quotes" that one minute are solid quotes and next minute they are just "estimates". Tell her you'll wait to see what your insurance pays and then see what your patient obligation is through your own insurance instead of taking her word for it. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Alikhani's for almost 10 years. I've always hated going to the dentist, but Dr. Alikhani has been so sweet to me from the first day. She is very knowledgeable, and patiently answers all the questions I have for her. She was recommended to me by my father, who is still her patient at present. Her office staff are very good at following up, and keeping track of when cleaning is needed. I appreciate the reminders the day before the appointment. I'm currently trying to introduce more people to her, so that they can receive great care as well. read more

I had a similar bad experience like the other reviewers. Dr. Akikhani never went over x-rays with me and told me how many cavities I had. I've never had a dentist who didnt review x-rays. She just said there were multiple problem areas and rushed off to her next patient. The receptionist told me I had eight cavities. I got two second opinions. Both other dentists told me that I had no cavities. Dr. Alikhani's office called about eight times (no exaggeration) to schedule fillings. i will never go back. read more

I lost my dental insurance and had to change to a new dentist so I tried Dr. Alikhani. It started out bad at the beginning. The receptionist wanted cash for my co-pay and never gave me a receipt. It's the first time any medical office has refused a check. After filling out much paperwork they took me back to a room and Dr. Alikhani came in and started looking at my teeth. She didn't introduce herself or say anything to me. At first I thought she was the hygenist. There was no explanation of what she found, she only explained how to brush teeth correctly like every dentist does. Then she just walked out. An aide came to let me out of the chair and I wasn't even sure I was done but the aide said I could go. As I started to walk out the front door, the receptionist said I neede to make another appointment. I asked why and she said I had cavities. Turned out they said I had 8 cavities. That was a real surprise since my old dentist had checked me 6 months earlier and found nothing and I don't have a history of cavities. I told her I'd make the appointment later since I knew I wasn't coming back and as I turned to go she stopped me and gave me a slip of paper showing they would credit my account for $50 for every referral and explained that that would help pay for all my cavities. Before I start, I did no have dental insurance 2years ago. She offered a membership plan for $150 (more or less) that covered one x-ray and one cleaning. I did 4-5 fillings with her. The secretary was insanely pushy, kept calling a few times a day, leaving voicemails for me to go finish my work. (Ok- I appreciate one or two calls, but there's a limit to everything). The last appointment, I don't remember exactly if it was my fault or what, but I called about an hour ahead to say I couldn't make it. I had already spent over $600 there. The secretary said she would charge me $50 for no show. I laughed and I didn't go back for the rest. Fast forward 2 years later, my filling FELL OFF. Luckily, my cousin has opened his own practice and I went to see him. The cavity was so had that it borderline required root-canal. Fariba had not bothered to carefully clean the cavity before putting the filling... My new xray showed same thing has happened on two other teeth she had previously filled. How sad... She's nice, sweet and all. But her work as a dentist is not good. read more

She is very knowledgeable and educates her patients about their health which is important. The appointment was on time and the waiting area nice and clean. So glad to see other HORRIBLE reviews for this dentist! She should not be allowed to practice. Honestly, I'm surprised she hasn't been shut down from malpractice. I really hope she never sets a tool in anyone's mouth ever again. I created a Yelp account for the sole purpose of warning the world against this dentist. She is a scammer! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! Here's my story: I went in for a normal checkup. At 19ish years old, I had never had my wisdom teeth out and had never had a conversation with any dentist about getting them out. I asked her at the checkup if I would need them out. She immediately and emphatically answered "Oh No. You are fine." I was surprised that she could be so sure without taking additional x-rays or even so much as a glance inside my mouth, but I was relieved! I figured that she must have just remembered me from before. She was pretty good about remembering little details about me and my family which made it easy to believe she actually CARED about me as a human being. (WRONG!) So at the end of the checkup she informed me casually that I had two small cavities that needed filling. I would have to schedule another appointment with the receptionist to get them filled. Fine. I didn't have my calendar with me so I said I'd call later to schedule it. Upon calling, the receptionist told me "So you have four cavities. When would you like to schedule your first appointment?" I said, "Umm, she told me I had two cavities." "Oh.... well maybe she meant you'd need two appointments? Because we only fill two cavities per appointment." I went in to get my cavities filled and the receptionist, while signing me in said, "So this is one of three?" "Well, I was told I have four cavities." "No, one of three appointments. You have 6 cavities and we can fill two cavities in one appointment." "I was told I had two cavities, and then I was told four. Where is six coming from?" At this point the receptionist looked extremely uncomfortable and said something about looking over the x-rays after my appointment and seeing more cavities. Thoroughly distrusting of this entire office, I still went and sat in the chair (Stupid of me. I should have walked out then and there.) Before starting on the cavities the dentist said, "Have you had your wisdom teeth out?" "...um. Nooo..." I said, thinking "We talked about this just last week and you said I'd be fine." "OH!" (As if she wasn't able to tell from my x-rays?) "Well you definitely have to get that done then! We can refer you to a blah blah blah blah... and you should get this special test done to map out the nerve endings in your face. It only costs SEVERAL HUNDRED dollars, but it's worth it because you could have your whole face paralyzed if they accidently hit the nerve." The "cavities" were filled very poorly. One of them left a sharp point on my tooth that cut my tongue a few times before it got worn down after a year or so of use. It's still unnaturally pointy. The second filling left almost no gap between two of my teeth. She told me that in order to floss those teeth now, I'd have to pull the floss out sideways instead of pulling it straight down. "You might pull out the cavity." When I asked her if she couldn't just shave it down a bit so I could floss normally she said, "Oh no. Actually this is better because there's less room for bacteria to grow." .... riiiight.... When checking out and paying for my "fillings", if that's what they were, the receptionist said I should schedule three more appointments as I had originally had 8 cavities. I said "not now" and never picked up the phone (despite their MANY calls!) or talked to them again. Someone who wants to make good money on a lawsuit should seriously sue this lady. read more

I have always been anxious about going to the dentist but Dr. Alikhani has really helped me feel better about taking care of my teeth. She really listens to the problems I have and explains what she is doing so I feel calmer and more relaxed. I now look forward to getting my cleanings and seeing improvement in how my mouth feels. No more pain because I'm getting everything taken care of. She also makes mouth guards so if you grind your teeth at night like I do she can help with that jaw pain. We are all very stressed out in the valley so you should consider getting one if you also have jaw pain. She is very knowledgeable and her receptionist provides great customer service. The office is very clean and nice. I never have issues parking. I think she is planning to start online scheduling which is exciting. She is also starting a newsletter on interesting topics in dental care. Very informative if you haven't always taken care of your teeth or if you are starting to teach your kids about taking care of their teeth.
