It's hard to find a good dentist. We really like Dr. Steve and Dr. Connie. I have my work done with Dr. Connie, and she is really good. I have an extreme gag reflex that often interferes with routine X-rays as well as some procedures. She stays patient, works with me, and finds ways to get the work done. Sometimes she will allow me to sit upright more, even though it makes her access to my mouth more challenging and forces her to stand instead of sit. I often need to have the suction placed differently to avoid the back of my tongue, but she still patiently tries to accommodate me, sometimes waiting until my gag reflex attack subsides a bit. The office also works with us with our dental insurance and tries to make things as easy for us as possible, even though the dental insurance companies are always trying to make things harder for patients and providers. read more

Have gone to Dr. Steve and Dr. Connie for three cleanings + one cavity filling. Would recommend them. They are meticulous with cleaning, yet minimize pain/discomfort with the gums. Dr. Connie discovered the cause of my tooth pain that two other dentists in the past few years never found: partially chipped filling. Ever since it was filled, I've been able to chew without pain. Seeing a dentist sounds scary enough to me that I didn't even dare to walk in a dentist office until I knew Dr. Chen. I had three cavities, which were serious enough that swept my fear away and pushed me to see him. It turned out all of my worries were unnecessary at all, he and his daughters are so nice and had comforted me throughout the entire procedure while I was there. I have been visiting Dr. Connie Chen, one of Dr. Steve Chen's daughters for more than 3 years. I have calvity issues and used to be scared to go to dentists' :) It feels so good to find someone who is nice and trustworthy to take care of you. It's not just their skills are great, but also they are super nice and optimistic that makes you relax. Luckily, I found Dr. Steve Chen. I started with Dr. Steve Chen when he was at his prior location on Scott Boulevard. He has now moved over to Homestead Road. The new office is completely brand new with the most high end technology for all your dental needs. Dr. Steve Chen is a very intelligent (Ivy Leaguer) and kind dentist who loves what he does. He always has a smile on his face and he's very talkative, which is GREAT since he puts you at ease. Dr. Steven Chen is HONEST, which is difficult to find in a dentist. He will try to limit the amount of money that comes out of your pocket. If there is dental work that is necessary, he will let you know and give you your options. If you do require dental work, his kind assistant will tell you how much you will have to spend "out of pocket" and there will be no surprises. Let's talk about his work. His dental work is amazing. He removed all my silver fillings and replaced them with ceramic ones and my teeth are now beautiful! He is gentle and very aware of any pain that I feel. Dr. Chen is one of my favorite people in the world, hands-down. I've simply never met anyone as cheerful and affable as he is. I'm not a fan of having foreign objects poked around in my mouth, yet I'm always really excited for my dental appointments, because Dr. Chen is such a delightful person. He is also extremely gentle and sensitive; I recently got my wisdom teeth extracted, and he constantly reassured me and asked me if everything was ok and if I was in pain or discomfort. The procedure went extremely well, and it only took 5 minutes to take out the stitches a week later, because he was very smart about the way stitched my gums up in the first place. Dr. Chen is the best dentist I've known. He's very experienced and have decades and decades of experiences. Very comforting and kind person. I had my wisdom teeth bothering me for years but I haven't had the courage to pull it out, Dr. Chen educated me about the consequences and took out the wisdom teeth with only local anesthesia. It left very small wounds and I only took some over the counter pain killer to manage the pain. In contrast my husband (and some of my friends) went to a dental surgeon and got put down during the extraction, have to take Vicodin to manage the pain from tissue damage. Mine's performed one side of the mouth at a time, so I can still eat after each procedure. I'm glad I didn't have to go through a lot of pain thanks to Dr. Chen. read more

Dr. Chen is very genuine. He is not pushy and will not try to get you to do any unnecessary procedures for money. He is very thorough in his explanation, whether to answer your questions, or for any procedures. His treatment plans are conservative; he will try to save your tooth as much as possible and do the least invasive procedures necessary. He cares about the patient as a person, not just as a name in a stack of files. Personality aside, he has sure, steady hands. Dr. Chen is, in fact, awesome. * He's the first dentist I've been to where the dentist actually cleans your teeth. * I've always had issues with my gums, Dr. Chen is the first dentist not to immediately tell me to get a deep cleaning on the first visit. Instead, he gave me some homework, and he'll check back in with my gums in 6 months. * He is very friendly, he really does put you at ease. * He is the first dentist who took some time to interact with me as a person before the appointment. I was a bit late, but we talked for about 5 minutes before he started working, and continued to talk through most of the appointment. Most places, you see the dentist for 5 minutes only at the end of the appointment. If you're looking for a new dentist, go see Dr. Chen! Dr. Chen is very personable. He is thorough in his work and does all work by himself as pointed out by other reviewers. Dr. Chen has more than 30 years of experience. He does not use any of the marketing techniques as used by other dentists. The last thing he spends on is the marketing. Which is probably one of the reasons he can be honest with you and does not charge you for any unnecessary treatments. It is hard to find a good dentist! Each time that I have visited Dr. Chen he put me at ease with his positive and cheerful attitude, his clear communication about his procedures, and his professional ability puts me ease, knowing that he has good skills and will make me comfortable. Also, his assistant Anna is a warm and friendly person who, like Dr. Chen, cares about you and made me feel like a family member, not just a patient. Recently, I had to undergo a root canal treatment and was very uptight about the pain I expected. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as bad as I thought, largely because Dr. Chen explained fully what the problem was, how he would fix it and helped me relax during the procedure. A few days before the procedure, I had severe pain due to infection. I was able to reach Dr. Chen on short notice before a major holiday who prescribed the medication needed to clear the infection that also eliminated the pain. I am going to repeat what all the other posters said - Dr. Chen is an excellent dentist. Having your teeth done is a scary experience, but Dr. Chen puts you at ease. I originally went to get my wisdom tooth examined, but I was sure that I had other problems too. He fixed two cavities (which now make it so much better) and has now got rid of the wisdom tooth.
