The refinished cabinets look like new. They do high quality work. He made his best effort to get things done within the time frame discussed but, as with any renovation, there were some unexpected issues that led to minor delays and affected cost. I really appreciated how his main concern was that I was happy with the end result. He drafted several design concepts based on our input and refined them until we were happy. After the basics had been locked down, it was much easier for us to choose specific tiles, colors and fixtures. The lifelike 3D renderings provided a clear vision of what the finished bathroom would look like, and removed all the guesswork and stress from this project. Shawn provided us with an extremely detailed list of every item and exact cost for the project including scheduling, permits, demo, construction, inspections and every material and fixture. It was clear that we were in experienced and competent hands. We chose to have Shawn and his team handle the project and complete all of the work period his crew was incredible. Each craftsman who worked on different parts of the remodeling was clearly a skilled professional with attention to detail and pride in their workmanship. They accommodated small changes and dealt with unforeseen issues as they occurred. Despite the scale and duration of this total remodel, they kept the work area much cleaner and more organized than we had expected. The finshed result is truly amazing. We now have a totally new bathroom which is the highlight of the entire house. Kanika is an extremely talented designer, and I can't recommend her enough!…read more We bought a house in March 2020 - signed the contract days before covid stay at home orders. My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. The project involved tearing down an old, dilapidated screened-in porch that had never really worked for us -- too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer -- and transforming it into a usable interior room. We wanted to keep the light and airy feel of a porch while gaining insulation, comfort, and year-round usability. We also wanted ideas for built-ins: maybe a window seat, maybe bookshelves -- we weren't quite sure. If it weren't for Erin, I'm pretty sure I would have just about given up on my home remodel by now…read more I am in the process of completely revamping a one-story 3 bedroom house. While I have always loved looking at home design stores and shopping for cool vintage pieces, I've never been able to tie entire spaces together in a cohesive way and thought hiring a designer would make sense. The thing I soon realized after talking to multiple design firms is that most of them only seem to care about two things: 1) your design budget and 2) your willingness to let them control construction work. And here's the thing, I get it. If I were an interior designer, I'd want someone to give me $10,000+ just for design and all the keys to the kingdom. It'd be easier for me. But I am not. I am just your average thirty-something who is finally establishing their first real entire house of their own, does not have an endless design budget, and actually wants to be actively involved in the process of remodeling. I wanted someone who I could bring a bunch of ideas to and guide me on what fits together and what doesn't, and teach me how to make a place feel like a beautifully tailored home as opposed to a hodgepodge of stuff that looks cool. Someone who could help keep me on track, troubleshoot problems, and weigh in on decisions. Enter Erin. Erin is like that one really kind and patient friend you always go to when you need someone to honestly and thoughtfully tell you what is gonna look good or not look good on you, or in this case, your home. She will never make you feel inferior for how much you are able to spend, or dumb for suggesting certain ideas. She is just gonna calmly talk you through figuring out all the thousands of small and large decisions that come along with a remodel so it's not quite so daunting and overwhelming. It is truly so much easier and so much more fun to have her on your team. She is currently based in Brooklyn and we are able to get a ton of work done through weekly virtual meetings. She offers different design hour packages that are flexible enough to meet whatever needs, budget, and degree of desire to be actively involved in the process you may have. I am using her for everything from interior design to exterior paint colors to weighing in on landscaping. So, please do not book up all her hours because I plan on using a lot of them. Once we finish each phase of the remodel, I'll update this review with pictures of the before and after.
