She did a great job and explained every step of the way, which is important to me as a patient considering that I'm deathly afraid of dental drills due to experiencing sensitivity. It turns out that I metabolize the anesthetic more quickly than most people, which Dr. Fishman pointed out-- her solution was simply applying more anesthetic, and this made the procedure a breeze! The team and the service here is exceptional. Appointments run on time, what a crazy concept, and the staff is very friendly. Surprisingly, they have some pretty fancy chairs while your teeth are worked on and they're very comfortable. The rooms are clean and modern with large displays that show not only the work being done but your actual costs! In a world where providers are pushing costs as low as possible, Bay Star's dentists do the actual work themselves. Dr. Tai cleaned my teeth and spent time just getting to know me as a new patient. I needed to come back for a filing to be repaired and to say that Dr. Tai is a perfectionist might be an understatement. I have never had a dentist take the time to discuss his plan, what my desired outcomes were, and then to spend as much time as was required to get it perfect by his standards (mine are clearly lower and it's my teeth!). Dr. Maggie is one of those rare doctors who combines absolute perfectionism in her work with genuine compassion for people. She never made me feel rushed, judged, or like "just another patient". She honestly cares. And she is so amazingly sweet. She always took the time and explained everything, calmed every fear, and somehow made a very intimidating process feel manageable. She answered all questions kindly, and in plain English, so you could understand. Honestly Dr. Maggie has the patience of a saint and the precision of a neurosurgeon working on a brain. And her staff? They are absolute angels from above. They cared about me, remembered me, and supported me throughout the whole long process. But here is the real truth; they didn't just fix my teeth. THEY GAVE ME MY SMILE BACK! AND MY SELF ESTEEM! Now I smile without thinking about it. I am no longer the person slinking around the back of the group, not wanting my picture taken. Now, I am happy to be right up front, grinning as wide as I can for the photo. That kind of confidence restoration is hard to explain unless you've lived without it for a long time. My journey began in 2015 when I fell down some stairs and broke my front tooth. You don't realize how self-conscious you become, not wanting to talk to strangers because of the gaping hole in your smile. I think I was the only person in the world who was HAPPY to wear a mask when COVID hit. It was truly awful, and even though it took a long time for the whole process, it was soooooo worth the wait. The next day she calls me and tells me she could fit me in at the end of the day. So I show up to the appt and was running approx 5 min late. It was a 5 pm appt and I appreciated them squeezing me in. As I go to check out , the lady at the desk tells me they no longer take my insurance and that I need to pay for the visit that day. It would have been very helpful if she had told me that when I made the appt. I didn't think to ask about insurance because I had been going there under a different dentist for many years. Then the receptionist tells me that as a courtesy to me, they would bill my insurance and the insurance would cut me a check. Well I got the check from my insurance but was reimbursed only a fraction of what the visit cost.

My husband and I have continued with the Levines ever since. What keeps me coming here even though I now live 100 miles away is the fact that Dr. Levine is what I want in a dentist. He is precise in his work and is technically outstanding. He makes you feel comfortable, it's easy to ask questions, and he communicates well so that I can understand. He is respectful and has extensive training and knowledge. He continues to improve the practice by staying current on all dentistry practices. He now makes his own crowns in the office so no need for a temporary. He is able to make adjustments to this crown in-house if necessary to prevent an additional trip into the office. Dr. Levine showed me how the crown is customized and it is pretty amazing! And most importantly, Dr. Levine is gentle and will warn you in advance if you will be feeling anything. The hygienist I see is Darlene and she is accommodating and works hard to keep your pearly whites in excellent condition. I have gone through a few other hygienists here but she has worked out the best for me. She is warm, friendly and I always feel like my teeth are incredibly clean as I leave the office. I love getting my teeth cleaned by Darlene as I feel like I'm getting a reset and clean slate for the next six months. The front desk is responsive and kind too. Everyone here helps to ensure you receive compassionate care and you feel welcomed and at ease. I had some dental work done during this last appointment where I was given a heads up that I needed to be in the office for two hours.
