I've used Alison Relocations for 2 moves - 1 local and 1 to the lower 48. I got great service both times. The real test was the move to the lower 48. I got 2 other estimates before calling Alison. I had a very small move, but the estimates I got from the other movers were about $8000. They came to our small apartment and we showed them what we were moving, which was only about half of our household belongings. But their estimates seemed to include everything in the house without any regard for what we had pointed out. We had a "moving budget" of about half that. Ben came over from Alison Relocations and we explained our budget and that we needed an accurate (as close as possible) estimate with no big surprises after the moving company weighed it. He did a walk through making detailed notes of the things we pointed out that we were actually moving and gave us an estimate based on that. It was within our budget, as we had expected. When we got the final amount after the shipment was weighed, it was actually a few hundred dollars less than his estimate. I had read reviews on the other moving companies and saw horror stories about their shipments being held and the client being made to pay several thousand more than the estimate to get their goods delivered. Ben was personable, professional, and we felt like he cared about us, the client, as a family with a budget, not wanting any surprises with the final bill. He explained how things were estimated and the law related to moving companies and how it all worked. We could tell that he was honest and cared about our move, because he cares about his company's reputation in the community. The 2 men who picked up our stuff did a great job. Once our stuff was picked up, the office at Alison's called on a regular basis to let us know the status of our shipment right up to the delivery. Alisons Relocation was used to move our furniture from Anchorage, AK and to store our household items in Anchorage, AK until we found a house in Tennessee. The furniture was picked up March 10, 2023. The movers did a good job of packing the furniture. The furniture was moved by truck and restaged two times in different states, each time unloaded and stored in a storage facility. The furniture was delivered to our home in Gallatin, TN October 17, 2023. My Ethan Allen bedroom dresser was missing! How do you loose a dresser? Three of my dining room chairs are damaged, (one leg completely broken off), two leaves of my cherry dining room table parts are broken, table top glass on an end table broken, my Stiffel lamp damaged and brass bed dented, plus other damages. Three lost boxes of household goods. The quilt throws were off the sofa and chair when delivered. They were fully wrapped in Anchorage at our home. We paid for full replacement insurance. I mailed the insurance claim priority mail, November 20th, 2023. We have been contacted by the insurance company, Unirisc. Beware, full replacement does not apply over a specified dollar amount! I purchased all furniture new and have the original receipts. I also documented the damages with pictures, before and after damage. To date we are waiting for a representative from the insurance company to examine damages to the furniture. Talk about stress And hardship. We need the extended dining room table and chairs for daily living. We have family and six grandkids who are visiting often. We are sitting on odd chairs and make do tables. That included 12 for Christmas dinner. Others may Have had better luck. I would not recommend Alison Relocation or the insurance company, Unirisc. read more

From the beginning we knew we needed a moving company that could and would be flexible for various reasons. Our representative was Ben M., husband of the owner Alison. Everything he promised and sold to us was honored without hesitation. Bens estimate of the weight of our household goods was within 50#'s and we had over 25,000#'s; very impressive! The services we received were Outstanding!! Our move was from Eagle River, AK to Kona, HI. The transit time for our shipment to arrive was to the day, on time and just as we were estimated. One tall pole lamp had been bent but otherwise no other damage. No surprises in cost like we hear happens with other moving companies. We paid what we were quoted. The crew in Alaska represented the company with professionalism and pride in their work. We found it refreshing that they spoke very highly of the owner Alison, almost like she was there mom. They cared and they did an absolutely awesome job packing and loading. We have a special needs teenager and she was treated with respect and care during their 5 days in our home-thank you crew! On the Hawaii side the crew was just as good and they really appreciated the special notes, pictures and professionalism that the Alaskan crew sent with our shipment. Office staff-kudos to you and thank you for always answering our many questions. You are all well trained, experienced and knowledgeable professionals. We moved with Alisons Relocations from southern California to Wasilla, AK. Yesterday we received all of our household goods into our new home. Here is a bit about our experience. My initial call was taken by Ben McDaniel. He spent well over 30 minutes with me on that call whereas other moving companies we called either didn't have someone for us to speak with or we didn't get a call back. Ben arranged for our survey to be done a few days later and the following day I had my quote emailed to me by Ben. We then scheduled our move and within hours received an email with all of the move documents and contract necessary to secure our move dates. Three weeks later the movers in California arrived and packed all of our boxes with care and professionalism. Furniture was padded and protected and everything was loaded into the trailer that was parked outside our home. 17,240#'s! Valerie from Alisons stayed in touch with us to keep us informed as to the time of arrival into AK. It did take the full 6 weeks but we were pre-advised that during the peak season this may happen so we were prepared. Delivery crew was exceptional; everything is in place, put together and almost all unpacked. Not one item damaged! A nice touch; Alisons gifted us a James Michener novel on Alaska and an Alaska Milepost! Thank you for the warm welcome and for the impeccable service from start to finish. I just completed my 20th move! Alisons Relocations did an incredible job. Starting with Ben helping us decide on the parameters for our move and we deciding to pack ourselves anything that could go in a box, with Alisons packing the rest. 104 apple boxes later and 178 other boxes, Alisons showed up and in two days packed our 403 total items into their 52' trailer. They are excellent packers and loaders. Our trailer went down the ALCAN to Montana. We got word that it arrived in MT and was awaiting drivers to bring the trailer to Colorado. Because of truck driver shortages, it took a bit of time but our trailer arrived within the timeframe initially quoted by Alisons. The unpacking movers arrived at 8am, started unpacking at 9am and they were done by 3pm. Strong, professional, and friendly, the packers put furniture where we wanted it, boxes in numerous rooms and they sure moved quickly. All 403 items were accounted for. A few items had some minor damage and we found a few more once we got everything unpacked. In my opinion after 20 moves, the damage was minimal. Sorry it has taken me so long to touch base with you after my move. I did FINALLY get all unpacked and wanted to give you a report. ALL of my fragile china made it without any breakage! When my uncle passed away he left behind a baby grand piano that was gifted to us. The piano was an hour away and my aunt was in the process of moving out of state. I contacted Alison and was able to schedule a move the same week. Even on the coldest day(-36°), the piano was successfully delivered. They packed and protected it for its journey to its new home. On arrival they were careful with bringing it into the house, used moving blankets, protected my floors, set it up and made sure it was where I wanted it. Customer service and time was great. Alison's Relocations was great to work with! Our move from central Washington to Juneau, Alaska, presented us with some logistical challenges. It's not easy to move all your stuff to a place you can't drive to -- there are no roads to Juneau. Alison's took care of all the logistics, and what seemed impossible became possible.
