I had the unpleasant experience of working with Todd from Ace Drywall from Manhattan, KS. I had a list of items that were discussed and verbally agreed upon over the phone. This is the practice I would do with my local contractors from my small community..... That was the problem. A local contractor from a small community is going to have to perform or word of mouth will make or break their success in the small community. When it was all said and done the sub contractors that Todd utilized, Alex Sosa from Junction City, KS and Rafa Zalva from Salina, KS said they just assumed this job was the "usual". FYI Rafa had to have Alex translate for him in court even though some of Todd's testimony under oath was Rafa, Todd and I had a conversation....I do not speak Espanol, and I do not think Todd does either. NOTE: Enforceability: Verbal agreements are legally binding if they include an offer, acceptance, mutual intent, and consideration (exchange of value). However, they are significantly harder to prove than written contracts. WHY A POTENTIAL CLIENT SHOULD HAVE A WRITTEN CONTRACT WITH SIGNATURES! Advice for Homeowners: 1. Document Everything: Send an email, text and post a Google review the moment a problem arises. 2. Verify Material Payments: Check with suppliers to ensure the contractor has paid them. If they haven't, pay the supplier directly and deduct it from the contractor's final bill. 3. Beware of Liens: Some contractors use liens to force full payment for poor or incomplete work. 4. No Contract, No Job: If a contractor refuses a written, signed contract, find someone else.

The cops found all of our clearly labeled items in the back of his vehicle. Loved the work, didn't love that he felt it was ok to violate our trust or steal. I paid Travis $80 total (plus I bought him lunch) for him to pick up 2 loads of furniture from the house I was moving out of, take them to my storage unit, and help unload them. He took one load and never showed up to get the second despite the fact he'd already been paid for it. When I called him out on it, he said that I had made him "wait for hours on me" and that Id "terribly" inconvenienced him because he had to keep my stuff. (He did keep my stuff in his truck for a few hours overnight the first night- there was a mixup with my storage unit which I resolved as soon as they opened the next day.) Then, he sent me an angry, vicious, expletive-laden text message telling me I owed him even more money and he wasn't going to haul the load I'd already paid him for. Then, to add insult to injury, he stole several things of mine and refused to give them back. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

Above all the doors there were slice marks in the drywall like they cut the taped paper off. The wooden rafters in the living room had paint all over the ends. Sloppy job. He did do a nice job of patching over an outlet box for a no longer existing light switch and fixed a patch of mold under one window. But I spent the following week fixing everything. I do not recommend for painting.
