All of the teachers (including assistant teachers and outdoor teacher) are trained with AMI (Association Montessori Internationale), which is hard to find. Teachers are supportive and caring. They offer parent workshops and provide handouts to families in order for us to understand Montessori and children's needs. I hope other families could experience what our children gained from SJMS. Thank you to all of the staff for taking great care of our children. We will never forget this experience.

We looked at many preschools, but none of them felt quite right until we toured SJMS. The staff is extremely conscientious, engaged, and dedicated to the children. While many schools claim to be Montessori, many don't actually adhere to the principles very closely. SJMS is a true Montessori school, taking the time to not only practice the Montessori method but also to educate parents about the method. The school is small, just two classrooms with two dedicated teachers in each classroom, so the student-teacher ratio is quite good. If you're looking for a Montessori school that prioritizes the experience of your child, look no further.

I really like Ms. Jackie since she is warm towards the kids and is open to giving them a nurturing presence. Ms. Saideh seems a bit colder. I remember during the tour, before my son attended, I asked Ms. Saideh her favorite part of her job , and she looked at me and said that her favorite part was when the students were not crying and instead, were behaving. She didn't smile or laugh, which to me, indicated that she wasn't joking. Her communication wasn't the best either. When there was a glitch in the sign in/out system or if I had forgotten to sign in, she would wave towards me and say "you didn't sign in! You forgot. You need to remember to sign in." I get her point, but saying it in that tone doesn't build good relationships with parents. Positive: I will say that in the midst of our time here, Ms. Biridiana was incredible. She was so kind and loving towards my son and I always felt relief whenever I saw her in the morning, because I knew my son would be in a loving environment under her care (she does the early morning care before 8:30 AM). She would ask me questions and show care for the parents. She and Ms. Jackie were the teachers and staff that really stood out to me. Tone at the top: there is no question that this school is structured quite well and organized quite well. Their calendar is meticulous and they are quick to send parents notifications of upcoming events as well. That said, the verbal communication style is different from ones I've had in the past. There is a certain amount of formality and professionalism, which can be helpful, but also there is an overall lack of warmth. For example, when I ask the Director, Ms. Svetlana how her vacation was, her response was curt, "Good. Yours?" She was responsive, yes. However, that sort of a curt response doesn't generate a feeling of community nor does it build relationships. Unfortunately, MAC does not emphasize social emotional learning, and it is very obvious on the playground next door. I actually have to hover over my child (2 year-old), because at least a handful of times, several students at MAC have pushed him on the playground (both intentionally and unintentionally). The other parents, instead of prompting them to apologize or leave the playground, instead, threaten their kids to leave and get upset with them, but end up staying at the playground. If you care at all about social emotional learning, this is definitely not the school for you or your child. Also: if your kiddo needs diaper cream or has sensitive skin, you will need a doctor's note for even aquaphor to be applied 1x. I asked the reason for their no diaper cream policy and their reason was that if they let us have aquaphor then it would be unfair to others. I still am baffled by this policy. They did cooperate by not giving my son citrus that may irritate his skin, but c'mon now - how harmful is aquaphor? I know other centers that have a one-time physician form that parents fill out that can include aquaphor or desitin, etc. When I was touring this place, Svetlana made it seem as though the waitlist was quite long. I asked if putting in a nonrefundable deposit and paying for the entire month of September when his start date would be September 23rd would help. She said it would. I made that choice because per the reviews it seemed as though this place was worth paying for the entire month of September when he started so late that month. I regret that choice now.

Miss Jerri, the Director, is incredible. She truly cares about each kid that walks into that school. She honestly transforms this place every single holiday. When you are working parent, you don't have the time to decorate your house, so the magic is not really as alive as it could be. At Little Tree, it almost feels magical. For Thanksgiving, for instance, they host a feast for the kids. They also take photos of your kiddos, and send them to the parents during holidays. We had a couple of behavioral issues coming up, probably because the ratio of adult to kid isn't the best, but they were addressed immediately and with good communication. Our daughter does not speak Mandarin at home, but other people think that she is bilingual, based on how well she has learned Mandarin. She even did a solo during the performance! I highly recommend this place. We wish they could offer a pick up service from Oster, but they do offer a pick up service if your school is in the Campbell area. We are moving away, so are devastated that we won't continue at Little Tree, but highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mandarin afterschool program!

Throughout our years there we have been able to work closely with a majority of the primary teachers -and they are all amazing. Attentive, warm, thoughtful, patient, kind-they encompass all of the traits that I believe are important for teachers to possess. Both of my children have different personalities, and they were both able to thrive in the primary programs. The school provides a safe and loving environment where they are able to explore their interests, develop friendships, and master early childhood skills (like reading, writing and mathematics). The school fosters and promotes new interests, and they do a wonderful job of teaching the children so much more than just academic subjects. My children have learned about and been exposed to different cultures (their holidays and foods for example), countries, plants and animals and how to take care of their belongings. The school also has a wonderful sense of community-they offer multiple events throughout the year where all the families can come together, they host singalong events biweekly where the parents can join, and they make it very easy to be involved with the school as much (or as little) as you like. If I ever have a question or concern the teachers/head of the school/staff in general have always made me feel heard, and like my opinion is important. My entire family has benefited from our time at Casa (in more ways than one), if you are considering a Montessori education or looking for a primary program then I highly recommend visiting this school.

From the moment we toured the facility while pregnant with our first child, we knew this was the right place for us. Our child has attended Nelly's since they were 10 months old, in the infant classroom and is now 2.5 years old in the preschool classroom. I was nervous to send my child at what I felt was such a young age, but now I know I would truly feel comfortable sending my child there at any age. The staff at Nelly's is the absolute best! I cannot speak highly enough of the director, or of the maestras and support staff. They are all equally amazing! My child loves all the maestras and knows each one by name. The way they love all of the students and treat them with kindness, respect, and excitement everyday is such a special thing to see. You can tell how much they care for their students and their wellbeing. I can comfortably go to work each day knowing my child is safe and well cared for, and that's everything you could want for your child when they are being taken care of elsewhere. The classrooms, play areas, meals, artwork, activities - it is all really fantastic. Our child has food allergies and some other health related situations and they have been so safe and cautious. The communication between the staff and parents is really wonderful too. They really have our child's best interest in mind at all times and it shows every day. My child has grown so much in every aspect - physically, mentally, emotionally. And although this is a bilingual daycare primarily focused on Spanish, our child's speech in both English and Spanish has improved immensely. The staff at Nelly's make each day so fun for the kids and they are always learning about new subjects. The staff plan wonderful outings to involve the families and students throughout the year and it's really nice as a working parent to have those moments with your child. The staff at Nelly's also made us feel so prepared and supported through the potty training process and now we are past that initial stage and our child is doing great. I will be so sad for the day we have to move on from Nelly's, but I'm so thankful that is still a ways out. I highly recommend this daycare/preschool in every way and would rate them a 10 out of 5 if I could.

They work very hard to provide play-based education in a mixed age setting which has been ideal for both of my children to learn appropriate social, emotional and life skills. They support parents in mny ways as well with their years of experience, patience, and understanding. There have been situations where I didn't know how to handle something with my kids ' developments and they have been a source of wisdom and reassurance. The healthy home cooked meals are a big plus and all the wonderful traditions they teach the kids like celebrating each other's birthdays and graduations and it really is like a little family. Our son has been going to Sunshine Family Daycare part-time for almost a year now. He chants Niki name with excitement every morning, and is eating, laughing, or running around when I pick him up. This provided me with a lot of reassurance that he's well fed and is treated with love and care.

My child was with Alka Montessori for almost 2 years, spanning pre and post Covid times. Our experience with the school has been very good. My child was in Ms Maria's class for a few months and later in Ms Nadeema's. The teachers were kind and caring and my child always looked forward to going to school. The activities in school were enriching and my child learned a lot of basic skills along the way that were not only useful in day to day life (montessori way) but also skills that were useful when going to elementary school. The teachers insisted on some things (for ex: sending a lunch bag that kids could easily open/close) which might seem imposing in the beginning but it ensured that kids became independent and ready for bigger school. My child spent about 7 hours in school everyday and a big credit to learning patience, discipline, turn taking etc, goes to the curriculum and culture at the school. Sharing day at school was such a great opportunity for kids to learn public speaking, as much as you can expect from a 3-5 year old group. The summer program in school was also tons of fun for the kids - bouncy castle, bubble fun, puppet show, outdoor picnic etc. With the limitations of covid, there were less opportunities for organic interaction with the teachers, however through the year Ms Nadeema personally setup time to chat with us on phone about our child's progress and to answer our questions. The school is safe and clean and Ms Alka and the teachers enforce the school's sick child policy seriously. My child loves Ms Nadeema and Ms Maria (used to stop by to say Hi to the younger class teachers on the way out often!). Our 3 year old daughter has been going to Alka Montessori for the past 8 months- we are absolutely delighted with her academic and social progress while at Alka Montessori. She loves her classmates and teachers- as parents you want your child to go to a school where they are excited to start their day and not cry; the teachers at Alka Montessori are very warm and welcoming in the morning and our child loves her time there. When my wife goes to pick her up in the evenings she finds our daughter smiling and playing with her friends/classmates- we get the entire day's report and Alka has regular meetings with us to discuss our child's progress- this is a big deal for us! The other thing we really like about Alka Montessori is that they have a very structured schedule for the kids- plenty of time for Montessori curriculum/jobs, physical activities, quiet/nap time, group programs, individual activities, snacks and play time. TV and videos play little or no part (only on rainy or extremely hot days) - in addition to the Montessori curriculum our daughter loves her music and Spanish classes as well. The school is clean, safe, welcoming and has plenty of space for the kids to run and play- we are very much happy with our decision to choose Alka Montessori for our child and feel very secure when she is there. Academically our child is making great progress and her social skills have also greatly improved- I would surely recommend this school to any parent/friend. read more

I first toured Alka Montessori in April 2023, and right away the place had such a positive and welcoming vibe. Alka herself greeted me with such warmth, and as we walked through, everything felt clean, inviting, and full of care. What stood out most to me was their teaching approach--truly centered on understanding each child's needs. As a single, full-time working parent, I was especially grateful for how they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and supported. My son quickly connected with his teachers--Ms. Qui, Ms. Janet, Ms. Martha, and later on Ms. Mary. Each one showed genuine love and care, and you could feel it in the way the kids were treated every day. I also want to give a sincere thank you to Ms. Shikha, who kept everything so well organized and ran the operations with such grace. We had countless requests and accommodations during our time at Alka, and she always met them with leadership, kindness, and genuine care for both the children and the staff. Her presence truly made a difference for us. The school radiates love, flexibility, and a deep respect for the children. My daughter started attending Alka Montessori at 4 yrs old this summer. She was in the summer program that had arts, crafts, in house field trips, outside time, story time, etc. that went with a weekly theme. Teachers were great in summer. Now in fall, my daughter started Pre K. The nurturing environment makes for a wonderful experience for students. My daughter loves her new school and is learning Spanish (twice a week), Science, Math, Writing practice, Music, Art and Yoga (she loves going to school on Fridays since its Yoga day)! They have an educational theme every month and this allows kids to focus and learn about one topic at a time. I also love the fact they have additional program to teach sports for pre-schoolers. The staff is supportive, positive and enthusiastic about what they do and teach. It is a great feeling to know that your child is in good hands when you are not around. Also, the administration is very organized. Curriculum is structured. They have a good system. The teachers are also very professional. This is THE school to go if you want your child to do well all rounded but still get the 1:1 and nurturing environment rather than being pressured like in several private schools I know. ! My daughter has been going to Alka Montessori for the past two years. She loves going to school in the mornings and is reluctant to leave when I arrive to pick her up in the evenings. That is a clear demonstration of how much children love and thrive in the loving discipline and montessori style education that Alka provides. Alka and her teachers closely observe each child's development and offer the right kind of support to develop physically, socially, cognitively and emotionally. The Montessori's new facility in Campell has an inviting environment, with colorful, spacious classrooms and a great play area, so the children get to spend time both outdoors and indoors during the day. I like it that in addition to learning the alphabet, colors and numbers as 3 year olds should, my daughter has begun to learn values, such as sharing with others, teamwork and picking up her toys after playtime. I believe that the time she is spending at Alka Montessori will give her the skills she needs to prepare for kindergarten later. read more

We love Alka Montessori and the Staff! When we drop off our 3.5 year old, we have no worries that he is being well taken care of. The team is incredibly friendly, well trained, the culture is phenomenal! His teacher Ms. Nadeema is patient with our son. Since, this is all new to him, he is adjusted to the structure but he loves it! His teacher gives me details on his day when I ask and he is learning a lot. I feel at peace when I'm at work which is what we "Mom's"want to feel. My oldest is 10 now and he still remembers his experience here. He was two when he started. He still wishes he can return. I think he will forever look back and remember how great it was to attend at this school. He also created many friendships that to the day he still keeps in touch and we as parents did too. I have to give a big shout out to Ms. Alka and Ms.Nadeema, they are wonderful! Helpful, caring, and understanding. Look no further! This is the right place for your family. read more

My older daughter went to Alka Montessori for about 3 years she started at about 2 years old in Ms Maria's class and then moved on into Ms Nadeema's class and we had a wonderful experience. We were very happy with the Montessori curriculum and the growth we saw in our child both academically and emotionally. Now my younger daughter has started her preschool journey at Alka Montessori; the summer program was so much fun for the kids with the puppet show, the bubble show and the jumpy house week. Already she is totally acclimated in her new environment, and this is her first preschool so the way the teachers handled her and made her comfortable was very reassuring as a parent. Our boy has been going to Alka Montessori for more than 3 years now - he started as a 5 months old baby and has grown up to be a preschooler there. It is like his second home. He loves Alka and all other teachers over there. Alka provides a unique blend of affectionate and disciplined environment. I am very happy with my kid's academic growth in the school. Besides he has progressively picked up good food habits as well as social skills there. He loves his new dolphin room with lots of new activities and spacious outdoors with play structures. As any parents would be, we were nervous in chossing first pre-school for our kid and we shared our concerns with Alka. Alka, with her calm and understanding approach, expained us the assimilating practices of Montessori and how creative learning is encouraged at the school to keep the kid engaged. After meeting with her and considering the location of the school, we decided it was the best option. We are glad about our decision. The stress of transitioning your child from one school to another can be very unsettling. When we moved to Cupertino , I called almost all preschools in the area and didn't feel at ease until I spoke to Ms.Alka at Alka Montessori. We enrolled our 2 year old daughter in October of 2021 after a difficult experience at another day care. It has now been 10 months since she has started and my wife and I have seen a world of a difference in our daughter's speech, motor skills and social development. Her current teacher is Ms. Maria in the Turtle classroom and we owe a great deal of our daughter's growth to her. She has made this transition extremely easy and comforting for our family. Truly cannot say enough great things about this school. I recently visited this school and to my delight, this was one of the most organized , tidy and well kept Montessori. They have a complete different section for infants which assured me of the safety. After hearing horror stories of day care, I was little skeptical for my 3 month old daughter. But I am so glad I found this place. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. This is a fantastic pre-school. I am sure my baby will thrive here. read more

My grand daughter went to Alka Montessori for approximately one year; its a great environment and follows the montessori school of teaching. The staff are qualified and extremely knowledgeable. Alka is a great teacher who is very fond of childern and is an organized leader. There are two toddler classrooms with 24 students each with 2 primary teachers and one floating teacher per classroom. Coming from a home-based daycare, the transition was challenging and it took him around two months to adjust. During that period, I had hoped for a little more support from the teachers to make drop-offs smoother. Communication & Feedback: One of my biggest concerns was the limited communication. Updates through the Procare app were infrequent, and direct feedback from teachers was minimal. I wasn't expecting daily notes, but even a short weekly summary about how he was doing--both socially and academically--would have been very valuable. Since the program follows a Montessori style, children are encouraged to choose their own work, which can be great for independent learners. However, for my son, who is quieter and sometimes needs encouragement, I felt he did not receive as much of a gentle nudge as he could have. Many teachers seemed overextended, which may have contributed to this. Safety & Care: There were two instances where my son returned hurt. In one of the instances it was a teacher's direct oversight. What concerned me most was the lack of proactive communication--we only learned about it after asking. For me, this was a significant gap in accountability and transparency. What We Appreciated: - Hot lunch everyday. - Very bright and clean classrooms. I liked the way all the montessori jobs are arranged around the classroom - Multi age group class - Ms Joyce is very friendly and truly has the best intentions for the kids in mind. Overall, this daycare may work better for independent children who thrive in a Montessori environment, but for quieter kids who need extra encouragement, it might not be the best fit. The lack of consistent communication and limited encouragement for less assertive kids were ongoing challenges for us.

This is a review of the infant room. It seems like people had better experiences in the older…read morerooms. My daughter attended for 4 months. Here is why we left: -I felt like the quality of care in the infant room was really lacking. Nearly every time that I would pick up my daughter, other babies would be screaming and crying on the floor, all being ignored. It was very upsetting to see and it made me wonder what the staff would do when parents weren't present if they were OK with me seeing that. -DeLor is closed every year for a week between August and September, that is very challenging with a two parent work schedule. -I felt like there were unsafe sleep practices in the infant room (blankets in cribs, babies left unattended, they do have two Type A citations for this which you can look up online here: https://secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFacilitySearch/ -general lack of communication. There were sometimes new teachers with no mention of names, slow to communicate about illnesses in the room. Back in the day my family loved this place, but it is no longer the same. All that being said, the owners are both very friendly and nice and were open to hearing my feedback when I withdrew my daughter.
