I've been seeing Alka religiously for 7-8 years. She is the only person I trust my face with. Irene gives amazing massages! I have had a couple of knots in my back that have been bothering me for years. I've had massages in the past to try to loosen them up, but the knots stubbornly stayed. Irene knew exactly how to work them out, and I felt so much better when I left. She understands how the muscles work together and has good suggestions for maintaining the results at home. I've been going to Alka for years. She understands skin and has customized a skin regimen for me for any phase I'm in. Fast forward to now, she is treating my teen's skin. At the first sign of a breakout I took him to see her. His skin looked great after the first treatment so we set up a regimen to see her regularly...then had to stop. Pandemic. Mandates. His skin got worse - puberty combined with having to wear a mask every day, all day in school. The sweat just stayed on his face under the mask and created that perfect environment for breakouts. I had my first appointment with Betty last week for a 60 min clinical facial and was very impressed!! I've tried a lot of products over the years, but can't ever seem to get the smooth clear skin that I want. I don't have acne, but I do tend to get blackheads/whiteheads easily, even though I regularly use AHAs/BHAs and retinol. I realized that maybe I needed to see a professional to really tackle my issues, and decided to go to Alka Skin Therapy after reading the reviews! During the appointment, Betty made me feel very comfortable and cared for. She started off by examining my skin carefully, and from there she customized the facial to fit my needs. I will say that the whole experience was very relaxing and enjoyable (up until the extraction part - that HURT SO BAD!! But honestly I expected that). Betty gave me recommendations during the process and let me know what she was doing as she was doing it, but never talked so much that it took away from the relaxing experience. My skin was pretty red after my appointment, and stayed that way for the next 24 hours. It's been 4 days now and my skin honestly looks so good! Betty is awesome! My appointment was a few weeks ago and on top of having oily skin, it was very congested. Betty recommended a clinical facial as well as microdermabrasion. Even though my pores are small, she took her time and was very gentle during the extractions. I experienced very little pain. I've been going to Alka Skin Therapy since Alka started her business. I cannot express enough how phenomenal this beautiful woman is. When I go to Alka she makes me feel and look so good I don't want to leave. I usually call and ask for an appointment, but this time I went to the website to book an appointment. I was completely blown away to peruse the abundant services Alka offers. I chose the customized treatment which offered 2 hours of service and the back treatment which offered 45 minutes. Alka performed the back treatment first, which sent me to seventh heaven. Afterwards, Alka worked her magic on my face with the most beautiful high tech tools. Each tool sent me to another level and I could feel my skin dancing and tingling. My favorites were the micro needling treatment, the non surgical facelift, the light therapy and the oxygen therapy. I asked Alka why she did not promote her other services and she replied that she did not want her clients to feel like she was trying to push services on them. Alka has the arsenal to take my skin to the next level and I want to take advantage of everything she has to offer. I'm over 60 and I look great. I made an appointment with Betty for a clinical facial and I have seen amazing results! I have always struggled with oily and acne-prone skin growing up and I've tried numerous amounts of over the counter products that never seemed to consistently work. I don't understand why my experience was so different than all the other reviewers--maybe I caught her on an "off" day? I went in with a Groupon for the Clinical Facial. I was about 7 minutes late, which I know is very bad form on my part, I called ahead to tell her I was on my way and she mentioned she had an appointment right after me. I totally understand how scheduling works in a salon/spa (I used to work in one), so I apologized and told her I didn't expect her to go past my end-time. When I arrived she said 'hello' and showed me the room, told me to take my top off and get under the covers. She came in a minute or two later and started the facial. Here's what I didn't like: She didn't speak to me at all, the entire time. + She didn't ask me about my skin care routine, my concerns or desires for the facial, etc. Maybe this was because I was late? + She used an electronic machine with different head attachments and didn't explain what it was for or why she was using it. + She started extractions without asking (I'm used to this being an optional thing--maybe that's unique?) and spent at least half the time of the facial doing painful extractions. (Which, let me ramble here for a minute, didn't do much help because they were all blackheads. Blackheads come right back after you extract them if you don't moisturize the skin. Which she didn't.) I'm used to the esthetician's hands touching my face more, applying lotions and cleansers and moisturizers until my face is baby soft. I left with my face feeling very tight, burning slightly and looking incredibly red. The weirdest thing was when we were done. She told me we were finished and then left the room. I dressed myself and went out into the waiting area and she was half-way into the next room starting her next appointment. I had to walk over and give her my groupon. In the end, I felt like she was annoyed to have me there and my skin didn't feel or look any better than if I had stayed home. read more

First let me saw that Alka does do amazing facials. I felt very relaxed and liked the pace of the facial: it was thorough yet you still feel pampered. I have not been for a while so I cannot remember everything, but I do remember lots of steaming, good spa music, massaging, treatments that flow one into the other, and then extractions. My skin type is acne prone, and though I appreciate deep extractions and can bear 30 minutes of pore-popping, I did not personally care for the metal tools that she uses to accomplish this in. Not wanting to mess up her routine since I've only been twice, I'm not sure if it was an option to mention that I only like hand extractions, but I thought it was worth mentioning because those lancets hurt! She has good prices, but may suggest a chemical peel if necessary, which will add on about $15. Even then, for under $100, you're getting a spa service that will have benefits for at least several days. She is not pushy with products but I don't really mind when aestheticians are since I'm the type to try out whatever is recommended :) I would definitely go back. read more

I decided to give Alka a try since there was a Groupon deal. My first visit with her was great. She made me feel very comfortable and was very personable and easy going.
