    Paris Painting

If you need something painted ASAP, they will get the job done, but if you want it done well I'd recommend finding one of the other well-rated painting businesses in town (they often have waitlists in the 1-3 year length!). We had purchased a home that was overdue for painting, so we had to get it done in 2022, and they did an adequate job at the time. Like other reviews have mentioned, Paris isn't a very detail-oriented company. The workers who were sent out to prep our house didn't know it had lead paint, so had to be reminded to take precautions with laying dropcloths, wearing masks, etc. (This happened essentially every time we had someone out to work on the house over the three years we've worked with them.) People have repeatedly come into our yard without warning to look at the site, one time leaving our gate open so our dog escaped. During the main work, the project manager was rarely on site. Hardware was put back on our house upside down (house numbers and shutter hardware). Workers often didn't know which colors went where. Once the paint was "finished" we had to call them back once if not twice to have someone come out and catch places that were not fully painted. But by the time they were finished in 2022 the house looked good! In 2023 the house still looked okay, but by 2024 the paint had begun to bubble and peel, mostly because the prep had not been done sufficiently. We had Paris out to look at the house in 2024 and they did a little bit of touch-up, but only in the very specific places I pointed out, and even missing a few of those. The places I pointed out were supposed to be examples of the overall issues. In 2025, with our warranty running out, we had them back out to do the touchups. Again the first time workers came out, they only addressed a few of the specific places I had highlighted, even though the majority of every exterior wall was peeling and needed work. Eventually I took 20+ photos of the most egregious issues and those were addressed. I can't remember how many times we've had someone out this season. We weren't fully satisfied by the final visit, but decided we'd had enough of dealing with them. I'm sure we'll continue finding issues-- we recently discovered that workers caulked our garage attic access door shut (?!) without us asking them to, so that had to be cut open again and damaged the paint once again. Basically, if you hire Paris, be prepared to serve as your own project manager. Without our repeated follow-ups the work would have been a 1-star or 2-star quality. As it is, I'd rate the experience as "okay."

We required both exterior wooden trim, soffit, and fascia repair & repainting on our stucco garage,…read moreand wooden trim window and awning repair & repainting on our stucco house. Our painting crew and crew chief Tony, and our carpenter Toby, were helpful and meticulous in ensuring everything was repaired, primed, and repainted to our satisfaction. Toby even showed us how to internally disassemble the exterior sliding-door storm windows we have on a back sunroom, so that in the future I can better monitor and touch-up the external windowsill and vertical frame paint to prevent the need for window replacements over the next decade. The painting team's semi-gloss paint brand was matched well to our metal trim color and designed to guard against the Minnesota elements, while Toby's cedar woodwork was solid and precise -- so we're optimistic that Paris' 3-year work-quality warranty won't be needed to call them back into action. We appreciated the comprehensive and detailed estimate they provided for their carpentry-repair and painting, and their willingness to ensure their work was good quality and capable of indefinitely maintaining our house windows' and garage trims' structural integrity.

This would be a five star review if not for the total cost to me. While I found AtheH to be…read morecompetitive, my late wife and I were pretty good painters and MUCH less expensive. However I have to admit that the final results (including prep time and cleanup) are far better and considerably more meticulous than anything we could have done. I had a need for both exterior (+lead abatement) and interior work. While supply chain shortage of matching paint colors stretched out the overall project, AtheH (Randy in particular) kept me regularly informed and made sure that I didn't fall through the cracks during the prolonged process. In the end I am happy with the interior work. The exterior appears greatly improved as well. Alas, both required repeat visits but all was done at no extra cost and throughout reps were gracious and professional. As icing on the cake, my final fees were lower than the amount owed on the original invoice. I do remain a bit unclear as to exactly what the exterior lead removal (adhering to rigorous protocols) really did (other than add considerably to the price). Cost aside (and when I blanched I may well have been living in the past) all things considered I'm happy and satisfied. Oh what the heck, five stars it is.To my eyes Admire the Hue did great work. It's often been said: "You get what you pay for." In my experience a high price is no guarantee of high quality. However high quality almost always carries a higher price tag. When it comes down to brass tacks, I'm grateful that I chose AtheH.

Given the comment from the company making it seem as though I somehow failed to take the right…read moresteps to address their issues, I am updating my review. I will clarify that I did raise these issues in an email to Randy well in advance of leaving a review. I received no response. It was only after I posted my review that a representative from the company left a message wanting to "discuss" how to improve their process. Other than stating it in a review, I do not believe they did offer to do anything to address the issues or provide a partial refund for the supposed prep work that was never completed. That said, when a Company has failed to supervise their workers such that your home is damaged every time they enter--I'm not sure why they believe we would want them to continue coming back to do the work they failed to do during the first 2 rounds of touch-ups. As time has gone on I have only become more unhappy with the work that was done. We have a lot of cracking, which should not happen in paint that's only a few months old if the area was prepped right. And in doing touchups I've found tape from prior paint jobs that they simply painted over, which is about as lazy as you can get.

Now, the walls have a smooth finish and look wonderful. He even painted a couple of doors for me at no charge and cleaned up after himself when he finished working. Bourbon is friendly, honest, reliable, organized, and very meticulous in his work. I can't say enough good things about all the work he did to make my bathroom look brand new. I highly recommend calling him if you need someone to paint your apartment.

Originally…read morehe wrote an apology which I accepted, but now he's saying that I've somehow confused his business with someone elses. Just because 6 months have passed, it doesn't mean you can rewrite history. There is no confusion about what happened; you, Bourbon Zeigler, were totally unprofessional and blew off or forgot our appointment. Trying to make it seem like I didn't know I was dealing with is just insulting. Original Review 6/6/11 - After discussing a painting and plastering job on the phone, I set up an initial walk through appointment a week in advance. Unfortunately, on the day of the appointment, Mr. Zeigler was a no show. When I called to find out where he was, he didn't remember the appointment and said that I should have reconfirmed with him. He never mentioned this requirement during our conversation; I simply thought making a appointment was making an appointment. If it was so crucial for him to reconfirm he could have called or texted, but he didn't. He just forgot we existed as soon as the phone disconnected. When I asked him if he could still show up, he said he was too far to make it and was already involved in another project. So despite our prearranged appointment, he probably had no intention of showing up and honoring his commitment. Or he just forgot. Either way, really lame. I found the entire experience to be very unprofessional. We're talking about a job (potentially) for thousands of dollars, not odds and ends. Seems to me that he just didn't take the whole thing seriously, which, if you ask me, is not a trait you want in a contractor.

He was wonderful, communicated very well (text, cell phone and email, fast to respond, obviously also met in person), worked independently, did an excellent job, stayed exactly within a tight time frame (because I had to replace carpets and move in) and was very well priced. I think he should be one of the first people you contact, and the only thing I regret is that I did not have him also paint my basement (which I painted myself), because I know he would have done a better job at a very reasonable price - and I say this, being very handy myself! He is excellent and I wish I had another project for him to do! On a more technical note, the paint job was done early November of 2018 and included both floors of my two-storey house: Two bedrooms, three closets,1.5 bathrooms, two hallways, stairs, a living-room and dining area, walls and ceiling.
