I was nervous for my first class, but they took me and treated me no differently than the girls who had been dancing since they could walk. I was hooked. I danced here all through middle school and high school. I was well prepared for college level dance classes. I all but lived here from ages 16 to 18. Their niche is definitely school age from kindergarten through 12th grade. Since I was diagnosed with epilepsy and officially off the roads for 6 months, I find myself back in the neighborhood for the next 6 weeks. I stopped in today asking about adult classes. There were only 3 and none of which were at convenient times. I explained my situation and was offered the opportunity to take class with the older teens. I'm the exception, not the rule. The fact they were willing to accommodate me reminded me why I loved this place so much. I hadn't set foot in there for a decade and it was like I had just taken class yesterday. Maybe it's my nostalgia talking, but I would whole heartedly recommend this studio to anyone with kids looking for a solid studio. It's small, so the attention isn't spread out. Jonnie, the owner, is wonderful and always happy to help where she can. There's a performance company for the more serious students. There's a relatively small group of teachers so it's easy to get to know them and get used to their style of teaching. Should I have children and find myself living here, I'd send them to this studio without a second thought.

My daughter started in the recreation…read moreprogram and within a year joined the competitive team, Footnotes has amazing teachers that really get to know the dancers. Dancing is such a huge part of my daughters life. She has grown so much in her dance technique and confidence. Every year she improves and is challenged! The atmosphere is warm and supportive. My daughter has made lifelong friends with the dancers and the teachers. We are looking forward to another year with Footnotes!

I will admit the annoying part here was paying 20 a person, per class, and coming with my own partner, but having to dance half the time with another partner. For that reason I'll probably do a private session. Though I get the intent to help everyone that comes, that super annoying. But the instructors are patient and easy to understand and in each class you learn 4-6 moves. Also, it's a bit weird when they have two classes going on in one studio. Makes it hard with limited space but big classes. Parking is fine. Once you leave the parking lot, you walk through a hallway, and the studio is around the back(or you can just park in the back and walk up the stairs).

Dancefx is a not-for-profit so they really rely on and commit to the community. Plus, they are SO AFFORDABLE! They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. If you've ever even thought about taking a dance lesson this is the place to go. All the instructors were amazing in showing us how to merengue! (Sp?) They teach all ages from 2.5 years and up, so there's no reason to be shy. They even have babysitting events so mom & dad can go out while the little ones get some energy out!

I'm not going to lie, I was pretty intimidated myself when we attended a Yelp Elite event at this place and our instructor, Emi, told us we would be learning how to do the merengue(I thought that was pie?). Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). In just two sessions, she choreographed a classy, elegant routine that perfectly suited us. She had an intuitive sense of the tone we were going for and worked with us to create a dance floor routine that felt natural. On the day of the wedding, we received many compliments on how polished and sophisticated the dance looked. We couldn't have done it without her, and I would recommend her wholeheartedly.

My friend and I never took a hip-hop dance class before, but we were able to pick up the moves because the instructor was clear and confident. He took everything step by step, and kindly re-explained things we didn't pick up the first time. At the end, the whole class ran through the choreo together several times to make sure we got the moves down. Everyone is super supportive and I loved the energy in the room. Overall, great experience and I can't wait to come back for more!
