Lori was referred to me by a friend and I was able to schedule a consult with her the very next day. She came to my home, which was very convenient with a newborn! I had needed to supplement with formula and was still trying to breastfeed as much as possible but it was so hard knowing if my baby was getting enough milk and on one side it didn't seem like he was latching very well. Lori showed me correct positioning for me and the baby in order to get a better latch. I can definitely tell a difference in how my baby is feeding and he seems much more content during and after the feedings. Lori is wonderful! She came to my home just a few days after I brought home my baby boy. I was experiencing soreness, and wasn't sure how to get a good latch. I'm also recovering from a significant tear, so finding the right positions for breastfeeding was difficult. I was propping multiple pillows and was overwhelmed with the process. My baby had lost 5oz at the hospital and had lost a few more by the time she arrived. Lori immediately started working with me to simplify my process. She showed me a position where baby could easily rest on my chest and I could lean back and take a lot of the pressure off my stitches. She also showed me what a good latch is supposed to feel like. I teared up feeling so comforted by her kind and insightful presence. When she left, I felt so much more confident, and it was just a matter of continuing to practice what she taught me. If you're on the fence about Lori - don't be. I saw Lori on day 4 of my second child's life when I was at my wits end about our feeds. She is technically the 4th LC I've seen since I really struggled with my first (ended up exclusively pumping) but by far the most helpful/informative. She is so caring and compassionate that as a new mom, you feel relief just talking to her. And she doesn't pressure you at all. She truly wants the best thing for you and your little one and that is hard to come by. There's no guilt or grief from her if you can't seem to "get it" as I say. Lori was an answer to so many prayers! My husband and I were at the end of our rope with breast feeding and were going to give it up to just feed our daughter through the bottle. Calling Lori was our last straw and we are so happy we were gave breast feeding one more try. A week after having my first baby I knew I needed to look into a lactation consultant due to painful breastfeeding. In the hospital I had met with one a couple times and I really thought that I had the whole breastfeeding thing down. After looking more into it I realized that what I was experiencing wasn't normal. After reading many reviews and comparing prices I chose to go with Lori and it was the best decision I ever made!! The fact that she was able to come to my home to see how/where I feed my daughter made a huge difference! Not only that but she includes 2 weeks of follow up where you can email or call with any questions that arise because let's be honest, new moms don't always remember or think of everything that needs to be asked right away. Lori asked if she could latch my daughter for me after seeing how I usually got her on and even though I had cracked and very raw nipples there was little to no pain when Lori latched her vs. unimaginable pain I would experience when I latched her. I could not believe how much of a difference it made to have her latched and positioned properly!! I cannot recommend Lori highly enough to any mamas who are struggling in their breastfeeding relationship. Lori is knowledgeable, skilled, wise, and compassionate. Knowledge and skills are something that a lot of IBCLCs have, but Lori's wisdom and compassion are what make her a cut above the rest. To "know" something is one thing, but to recognize how to apply that knowledge in different situations is another. Lori is able to do this time and time again. I came to Lori first when I was struggling with my second baby. She was severely tongue tied and lip tied and was unable to latch. We managed the first 9 days of her life by hand expression and syringe feeding, but I was so ready to be feeding at the breast. I saw Lori after the revision and she helped tremendously with positioning, adjusting my latch and reassuring me of my baby's ability to transfer milk post-revision. Since we had so much time left in our consult, Lori took the time to show me how to breastfeed laying down and reclined, which is a game changer when you're a tired new mom. Lori's extra care and attention made me feel confident and empowered as a mother. Secondly, I am a doula in the local birth community. I refer many of my clients to Lori for both in-office and in-home visits. Over and over again, the feedback I get from clients is that "Lori is amazing", and they're spot on! She truly is! I had a baby in July and was determined to breastfeed (hey breast is best right)?! I figured it was going to be a piece of cake, as in this is the natural way things go, and my baby will jump on board. Um, I was wrong. I needed help in the worst way. After 2 weeks of pain and torture, and my baby screaming bloody murder, my pediatrician referred me to Lori Isenstadt at All about Breastfeeding. You can either go to her home for a consultation, or for an additional fee, she can come to YOUR home. How cool is that??!! I opted for the in-home consultation. I figured I feed my baby here, this is where I want to learn. She brought her equipment, and patiently sat with me, and explained how this whole feeding thing was supposed to work. After our consultation, she gave me handouts, websites, and tools to further educate myself. She also provides classes, rents out hospital grade pumps, and other accessories for pumping. Lori changed my life! When I met her I was a mess of frustration, anxiety and worry. My son was 3 weeks old and crying incessantly. As a Physician Assistant myself and the mother of a then 2 and 1/2 year old (that I nursed for 17 months), I thought I knew everything that I needed to know. Well, my son had other plans. I met Lori at her office. She was kind, clear, and informative. She weighed my son before and after feeding to see how much milk he was getting. She listened actively and was engaged when I shared my story (often through tears). She did a very thorough exam, and shared that it appeared that my son had a significant tongue tie. SAVE your MONEY she is a complete waste. When she attempted to help me and realized she couldn't figure out a proper position or a latch she left it up to me to figure it out. She left me hopeless and broken with my breastfeeding journey. She then proceeded to say " bad habits might be hard to break". She took her money and left me without a single solution. I was on the verge of quitting when I thought let me see one more specialist who actually cares before I do. I went to AZ breastfeeding Medicine and saw Beyauna and Dr Cara. Turns out my daughter had a lip and tounge tie and she had failed to diagnose either. When she attempted to look for it she gave up in seconds and said "I don't want to work her up before a feeding ". She was lazy and inefficient. Beyauna showed all the obvious signs that Lori missed. Since we fixed her lip and tounge tie she has been the best little breastfeeds. In addition to Lori's horrible service, when I asked her for a refund for what I felt was robbery given the service she provide, I got radio silence. She is a lactation crook and you will waste ur money and time. If I could give her less stars I would. She also lacks warmth and not the person you want helping you at such a difficult time. read more

I was referred to Lori by my baby's specialist after my baby had a tongue tie correction at 1.5 weeks of age and I needed assistance with breastfeeding. To say I was struggling is an understatement. When Lori came to my home, she was about 10 mins late (okay, there could've been traffic so no big deal). However, when she arrived, she was not friendly at the door. She did not say hello and immediately told us to put our dog away in an unpleasant manner. (I understand not wanting dogs out but the manner in which it was expressed was distasteful). When she came upstairs, it was immediately down to business. There was no friendly conversation to get comfortable with her whatsoever. Albeit, she was knowledgeable about breastfeeding and did have good recommendations but I felt information overload instantly. It did not feel like a comfortable setting and there was no personality to her services which made it difficult. After she left, she emailed a "care plan" that appeared generic except a few inserts specific to my breastfeeding. The plan did not feel personalized whatsoever. I emailed Lori back instantly as I continued having some issues and had several questions but never received a response after TEN DAYS. Her email and website indicate I should've got a response within 12 hours. Throughout the whole experience, I was deeply dissatisfied and wished I would have went elsewhere. I did not feel supported or assisted in the process. Thank goodness I received help elsewhere or my child's health could've been in jeopardy. The money was not worth it either. read more

I highly recommend Lori! She has a ton of experience and it really shows. If you are needing any kind of help I recommend you go see her or do a home visit. If it is early enough on I recommend the home visit just from my experience. You are too tired and it is too stressful to get out of the house in the beginning and it is nice that she can travel all over the valley and come to you with no worries. Then she can see you in your own environment and the way you breast feed day to day and where. I've seen Lori with both of my babies and she was a tremendous help! I learned so much from her. She was able to help me identify my issues and fix them. She also continued to be supportive through emails, which is a huge help since I seem to have a million questions all the time. What I was most impressed with was her ability to help me realize I was placing some of my personal baggage onto my breastfeeding expectations (that is besides the physical things I was doing). Once I identified that, I was able to relax and that helped solve some of my worrying which in turn allowed me to breastfeed. She is an invaluable resource. Although I think she is a little expensive it is well worth it. Just think of your baby and his health. What you pay Lori will pay a million times over for the health of your baby for the rest of his/her life. I cannot repay her enough for giving me the gift of being able to breastfeed my child. It was the one thing I prayed the most about while pregnant. read more

The LC is good in person but fails to follow up. I was referred to Lori by Babymoon Birthing Center, and it was my last-ditch effort to try breastfeeding after 7 weeks of little success. Lori was very helpful during our session, got my daughter to latch, and gave me simple steps to follow if I wanted to see progress. She told me any phone/email follow up was free and that she actually expected to hear from me with questions. I after a few days, I emailed Lori because my daughter began refusing to nurse and I needed her advice. I never heard back and eventually decided to just pump exclusively, rather than pay for another personal session. EDIT: After this review, Lori contacted me to apologize for never following up. She said she generally hears from clients within the first few days and prides herself on her ability to follow up. It sounds like my situation was the exception and not the rule, so I have added a star to this review. read more

The nurses at the hospital encouraged me to breastfeed her but had me convinced because of her size and premature birth she could not exclusively breastfeed right away, so we were supplementing with some formula. The day we left the hospital we went straight to Lori. She helped get Lilly latched on and reassured us that she was a strong enough nurser that she could in fact be breastfeed exclusively!!! We left her office that day and never looked back at the bottle! Lilly was able to nurse until a little over 13 months! Lori was so great to work with. I was referred to Lori by my son's pediatrician after I left the office in tears because he was losing too much weight. She is AMAZING. I was able to see her the next morning and she was actually the one to discover his tongue tie. Her advice is sound. She has a ton of experience with mothers and is a mother herself. You can also pay a little more and she'll come to your home, which I appreciated very much as a brand new mom who was overly tired, frustrated, and couldn't fathom leaving my house. I had a consultation with Lori after my son got out of the NICU. She came highly recommended by the lactation consultant at Banner Thunderbird and Agave Pediatrics. I am a wheelchair user and needed help positioning my son when breastfeeding. Lori was extremely patient and helpful with recommending different positions I could use.
