I am not downtown everyday anymore, but any time I am I try to stop by Mellon Square Park. It's such a nice place to sit and relax and has a great view of all the really old architecture from nearby buildings. When it's not busy on the weekdays there can be some interesting characters, so I try to only sit down when there are other people around. I have been loving the Summer block parties that Talia puts on. They have live music, cocktails, and Italian food for a couple hours once or twice a month. It is really fun, especially when the weather is nice. There is a parking garage on Oliver underneath the park and the Omni William Penn is right across the street. This is a great place to take photos at too! I feel like a lot of local people don't even know about this serene little square in the middle of the city.

The park was originally known as Cliffside Park. Great views of downtown and the skyline. Don't let it's urban setting fool you: The park has a playground, picnic areas, and green space. When living in Bloomfield, this was a pretty decent walk for us to get exercise and enjoy the city. Peaceful, clean, and welcoming. Of course, if visiting the park, you'll want to check out the home of August as well because it's literally a one-minute walk.

Located near the entrance of the park it's usually always the first ride of the day we enjoy. The first dip really gets the heart racing. The main downhill dip is a double dip that feels like you left the rails! Very exciting! That's where a camera is placed to capture the thrill of the ride that can be purchased for years of a great memory! One of our favorite attractions in the park, so much so that we usually ride it a few times throughout our visit to Kennywood. A must ride for the roller coaster enthusiasts! Tons of nostalgia throughout the line and entire ride. You feel like you are stepping into history when you ride it. It has some thrilling turns and dips and one of the great things is that it can be an awesome first coaster for kids to experience but also can be loved and enjoyed by even seasoned coaster enthusiasts. It is the first major attraction you come to when entering the park, so often the lines are crazy right at the beginning of the day. Don't skip this one just because it is old or wooden.
