Eagle Remodel & Construction - New Seattle Master Bathroom Renovation

    Eagle Remodel & Construction

We hired Doru and his team at Eagle Remodel and Construction for a complete, down-to-the-studs…read moreremodel of our master bathroom, and we couldn't be happier with the result. This was my first time hiring a contractor. I had previously acted as the general contractor for our other two bathrooms, and my husband and I did those remodels ourselves, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted--and also plenty of lessons to learn along the way! One of the biggest advantages of working with Doru was his pricing. His quote was extremely competitive compared with other contractors in the area, some of whom quoted us 2-3 times more. We did have to manage purchasing our own cabinets, tub, tile, lighting, fixtures, etc., but that gave us the flexibility to shop at our preferred stores and save money. **A couple of lessons I learned:** Make sure you have all of your materials onsite before construction starts. There were a few times we were waiting for items I had ordered, which slowed things down. Had I used some of Doru's preferred suppliers, that probably wouldn't have happened. Also, if possible, I recommend having someone home during construction. I couldn't be home because of work, but my husband was, and that worked out well. Doru was consistently on time--sometimes even early--which is rare in the construction industry. He's also incredibly versatile and was able to handle a variety of jobs himself, including light electrical work such as changing light types and wiring and installing/replacing electrical outlets. The only time he brought in an electrician was for our heated floors because they required additional breakers in our electrical panel. And by the way, **I highly recommend heated bathroom floors!** They aren't hot; they're just comfortably warm/room temperature, which means no more freezing feet first thing in the morning. The project started with demolition, which Doru completed in just **one day**. From there, he handled the framing and coordinated his regular team of skilled subcontractors. One thing I appreciated about Doru is that he genuinely wants you to be happy with the final product. He doesn't try to push his own design preferences on you. When I asked for his opinion, he would explain the pros and cons of different options, but ultimately left the decision to me. I changed my mind a couple of times during the project--including the ceiling lighting and tub surround--and even though those changes created additional work, he made the requested changes without charging us extra. His team was excellent as well. Emmanuel, his tile professional, did an incredible job and really made the bathroom come together. He also installed our cabinets and crown molding, and his attention to detail was impressive. The drywall professional was extremely fast and efficient using Quick Set 5. We did need a second trip because of some ceiling corrections, but overall the work moved along quickly. Our project took about six weeks from start to finish, although some of that time was due to delays with materials I had selected and our family vacations. Realistically, I think the actual construction could have been completed in around four weeks if everything had been onsite and we hadn't had scheduling interruptions. What really stood out to me was Doru's follow-through. He has checked in with us multiple times since the project was completed to make sure we're still happy with everything. We are! I actually made one poor choice myself when selecting our tub faucet--it takes about 20 minutes to fill our large tub. Doru even offered to come back and replace it once I find a better faucet, which says a lot about the kind of contractor he is. **If you're looking for a highly skilled, dependable contractor at a competitive price, I would absolutely recommend Eagle Remodel and Construction.** I think they're an especially great choice if you're comfortable purchasing your own tile, cabinets, fixtures, lighting, tub, etc. and want more control over your budget and selections. If you're looking for a completely hands-off experience where you walk into a showroom, select everything through the contractor, and have them handle every purchase, a larger remodeling company may be a better fit--but you'll likely pay significantly more for that convenience. For us, Eagle Remodel and Construction was absolutely the right choice. We love our new bathroom and would hire Doru again without hesitation!

The team worked efficiently, skillfully, and ahead of schedule! It seems like Eagle Construction can build anything you ask them to. Doru is someone I can trust. He stayed in close communication throughout the entire process, always taking the time to answer our questions. As someone who pays close attention to detail, I especially appreciated his precision and craftsmanship. I am so glad we went with him, and his pricing was fair. What stood out most was his honesty and thorough approach. We had reached out to several contractors for quotes, but Doru was the only one who took the time to measure our space accurately and fully understand what we wanted. He never pressured us into additional work and instead offered thoughtful guidance and expert recommendations. Despite working quickly, the final result was of quality and what we envisioned. I would absolutely hire Eagle Remodel again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, detail-oriented work, and people you can trust.

Headache and Heartache! One of the items we all worry about…read morewhen we are remodeling is turning over money to the contractor prior to any work being performed. Receiving an accurate estimate along with the details of said work, including labor and materials for each room, proved to be extremely difficult with contractor, Josh Yonkoske, owner of NW 1st Contracting. Many emails and texts and phone calls were made to try to get this accomplished, to no avail. With the clock ticking away, we decided to at least get the demo part done while we waited for an accurate estimate and eventually hopefully a contract we could sign. He insisted on 50% ($23000+) of one of his many estimates, before he would even come out to the property to finish the demo and before he had an accurate contract to sign. Most of the demo had been done prior to that day by family. Shortly after his arrival on March 11, 2023, unfortunately Black Mold was discovered in the home and the project had to be put on pause for further investigation. He and his crew had worked about 1/2 day. Eventually, one month later, we had to make the decision to demo the entire home and replace it with a new model, so the remodel project was cancelled. This began the arduous process of trying to get most of our deposit back from this contractor agreeing to reimburse him for materials he may have purchased and for the 1/2 day work he and his crew had performed. No materials were ever delivered to the home. We used the amount on one of his estimates for the demo completion of $1685 as payment for him and his crew. Many promises of checks in the mail, never materialized, and finally in late August we received part of the money back. We have continued to work on getting the remainder, less his estimate of the kitchen demo. In October he sent another portion of the deposit, now including charges he had now manufactured on an invoice, to justify his keeping $5587.01 for his half day work. We are still trying to get him to do the right thing and take a fair payment for a 1/2 day of work and return the remaining $3902.01 I would just want to add that I heard from another source later that he had done this during this same time period to two other clients that were referred to him. My warning to you is that while he may do good work, his handling of the money end of the transaction is less than desirable. I would advise you to make sure you have a detailed description of what he plans to do prior to giving him one dime and then make sure you have a signed contract for what happens to that money if the work is not performed or not able to be performed. Good luck working with this contractor.

Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. The images show the before and after work, minus the exterior wall board nailed up. I decided to repair the drywall and brickwork myself. Thanks for a wonderful job and experience Mike.
