Find a sporting goods or hardware store, and harmlessly cruise the aisles, stopping every once in a to pick up an item, scrutinize it, shake one's head, and put it back, maybe even in the right place that it came from. ş So, I plodded along until I was standing in front of the fishing reel counter. I saw it then. A small micro-sized spinning reel with a large yellow sticker that declared "Clearance! $35". I tried various angles to see what information I could obtain visually, but some evil genius had positioned it in such a way as to make it impossible to develop a buying interest without paging a sales clerk to the area. I reflexively glanced at the time on my cellphone: 3:44pm. So, I67 began my search for an associate to help me. 3:50. Nary a soul in sight..Then, I spotted a Press For Service button beside the live bait cooler so I pressed it: 3:57. While I was waiting I thought about all the times I had found items of interest to me in their flyers, only to discover that store and internet sales were both out of stock. In fact, I had never scored a single item from their ads, out of dozens of attempts. Finally a young woman bustled up. No key to open the display counter. 4:06m. She located a manager, who opened the display and handed me my reel. I liked it so off to checkout. Time:4:28pm. Time to purchase a little fishing reel came to 31 minutes. But, hey, that's better than it might've been at Wally World.

Stopped by the shop for the first time yesterday. We've been to the square in Roswell many times…read more(we live in Johns Creek, so we're really close) but I've never been in the shop before. I didn't even know it was there, its pretty far off the square but we parked so far away yesterday that we walked by it. They had a gorgeous June Cleaver looking dress outside so I wandered up to look at it. I kept moving after seeing the $169 price tag. It wasn't $169 pretty, trust me. On the way back to the car later we walked by and they had put a rack of dresses outside with a sign that said "Buy 2, get 1 free". So I'm thinking great! I might not pay $169 for simple, non-brand dresses but I'll pay $100-$200 for 3 of them. The prices marked on the dresses were ok, still a little on the high side but not horrible, $70-$90 each. I pick out 3 and head to the teeny fitting room that doesn't even have a mirror and try them on. The salesperson was pretty close the whole time (a little suffocating) and as I was trying to discuss the dresses with my partner, after discovering that only one fit, she told me that we would get 1/2 off if we just got the one dress. Great! The dress was marked $85 so I'm totally good with $42.50 for the dress. I still thought it was a fuzz high, serioulsy you could get a similar dress at the mall for ~$30. Just kind of a plain, boatneck cotton tank dress, nothing outstanding about it. I do like to support small business in the area so I'm willing to pay a little more. I am NOT, however, willing to be fleeced. At the register we were charged NINETY dollars. I reminded the associate that the dress was suposed to be half price (this was the same associate that had told me this originally). She proceeds to tell us that its half off the ORIGINAL price of $169!!!! Wait a darn minute, that's not what you said and that's not what the sign said!! We did buy the dress, my partner knew I was on the verge of creating a scene arguing with the sales person so he forked his credit card over before I could refuse. He can certainly afford the cost, I can afford the cost but it was SOOOO not worth $90, how could it have even been $169 to start with? These are not designer or even name brand dresses!! In my closet there are $10 dresses, $20 dresses and even $100 and $200 dresses. But you better believe that if it costs $100-$200 some brand name is going to be on it. I'm now saddled with (no returns) a no-name $90 tank dress. I DO NOT appreciate being fleeced nor do I appreciate deceptive advertising, it just makes for a bad business model. You may have gotten a sale off of me, Bilt house but you lost a woman that could've been a good customer. Seeing your limited selection of clothing at horribly inflated prices you can't afford to be alienating customers that way, I suggest you rethink your methods.

Orvis positions itself as an outdoorsy retailer and - at least in their catalog - they do have…read moreitems that fit that category. After visiting this retail location a few times, it seems to me that their real expertise is in selling overpriced sweaters to city dwellers who want to look like Paul Bunyan but who would die from internet-withdrawal in the woods. Their clothing has a hefty pricetag and, in my opinion, doesn't hold up as well as other retailers' items. Why would I spent $140 on a half zip sweater to wear for any sort of outdoor activity? I'm not going camping in a $140 merino wool sweater - nor fishing - nor hunting - nor cutting wood...nor working in the yard...if you want to position yourself as an outdoors/outfitter then give me options that I can take seriously. I grew up outdoors. I still have a farm. I have to do things like clear brush regularly... Beyond the prices, I can't give this location any kudos for service. You can literally wander the whole store for 40 minutes without an associate ever greeting you.
