Burton did a fantastic work helping me find the binding and shoes I needed . He's very detailed in making sure everything fits perfectly. BEWARE THE GUARANTEE: bought ski boots. after first ski trip boots causing pain. after return came by shop and had adjustment. went on second ski trip. same issue. owner guaranteed satisfaction or put in another boot. after requesting new boot or refund or store credit, owner stated that his guarantee did not work that way. lesson: if you are willing to risk this dissatisfaction when spending 600$ on boots, not to mention your time and travel invested in the vacation, then this is a good place to take that chance. read more

Today I had the BEST experience with Joel at Rocky Mountain. He helped me with poles and boots. In both cases he gave me great guidance that didn't amount to me buying new equipment. Terrible. Proof of purchase but won't let you return items because " you don't have the tag". Bought a pair of gloves took the tag off so I can try them on and unfortunately tossed the tag. Went back for a refund 5 days later and they wouldn't take them because I don't have the tag. The one employee tried making me feel terrible by saying you can't do that anywhere but I can recall a lot of places that allow you to do that. He was very disrespect and kept saying things when I was having a one on one convo with the owner of the store. My husband and I have been coming here 5+ years now. Each year, we add to our collection (he snowboards and I ski) - either buying clothes, gear, boots, snowboard, cases, etc. as well as use of their services (waxing, sharpening). Customer Service - The staff is consistently helpful (we've talked to over 8+ people), and we usually see the same faces each year. Recently I got custom-fit for ski boots and the guy spent 2 hours with me addressing each of my concerns (bunions, wide feet, cold feet, etc.) - it turns out he's retired and he comes in during ski season to help out. Once, I was even able to return a pair of socks I bought last year because it had a hole (and they were trying to sell me some again this year). They were really surprised because they had never heard it happening to that brand before, told me to bring it in, and exchanged it just like that. I like that they stand behind their products. If you buy custom-fit boots from them, they stamp it with a Rocky Mtn logo and you can get it adjusted for life. How have they helped? For example, they advised that airlines don't normally credit back soft cases, but if you get a hard case and have a itemized receipt of the gear you bought, your reimbursement claim is more likely to be taken seriously. They're chatty to the right amount and I always walk away learning more. I trust the people there a lot. Pricing - I do agree the prices are MSRP/not discounted, but if I wanted to find something on sale and out-of-season, I would just go online. I come here to get people's experience for what works on the slopes - their website says combined they have over 200 years experience. Parking - Can be tight, I'd say around 15 spaces (I want to say they share with another shop, but I've never seen anyone park there), but I've always been able to find a spot. We were immediately profiled as people who couldn't afford anything in the store..he then asked us if we planned on buying anything before he even tried to help us! The jerk wouldn't even try to help us understand what we were looking for due to us being new to the sport..we were so mad we walked out. My wife then decided to go back in and report him to a manager but he walked back over and told us to get out and don't let the door hit you in the ass!!! He then looked at me and said "I feel sorry for you because you're stuck with that the rest of your life" referring to my wife. Had a really bad experience with Rocky Mountain Snow Ski Shop. Gave in my skis and boots for tuning, came to pick them up after 4 days (yeah, they take that long even for basic tuning), and wasn't happy with the results. Pointed that out to the guy behind the ski repair counter, and he started arguing with me, cutting me off to point out that their guy, Jeff has been doing this for 35 years, and he knows more about the ski and boots setting than yours truly who actually skis in that gear. He refused to even call Jeff, and instead just kept on cutting me off to tell me I was wrong, and I had no idea how my gear should feel like. Seems like someone skipped the customer relations 101 class for sure. One of the worst experiences ever, and trust me, you're better off taking your business elsewhere. read more

The first question they asked was if she is buying today; when she said no, the owner started yelling at her that she is stealing, ripping him off, cheating, and wasting his time, and pointed to the door for her to leave. I'm very impressed by Rocky Mountain and all of the employees that work there. Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice. I went in looking for a new boot bag, possibly a new pair of boots and to get my board sharpened. The man working in repairs was thorough when explaining what he would do to my board and did exactly that! Keith over in boots is super knowledgeable and knew exactly what I needed to help my current boot situation. He seemed to know exactly what I was looking for and talked me through a few different options. I'm really happy he was able to work with me when I came in! It's clear that this shop cares about their customers. After going to a few ski shops in the area about an issue with my boots, I was told that there was nothing I could do to repair my boots and would have to resort to buying a new pair. I decided I would try Rocky Mountain as the last resort and boy was I pleasantly surprised. Joel at the ski shop repaired my boots in 15 minutes and they fit comfortably. I wanted to wait till I returned from my ski trip to make sure my boots were fitted properly. From now on, I know to go see Joel at RockyMountain for all my skiing needs. My wife and I went here to shop, thinking in part we'd end up ordering items off Amazon for cheaper. But the service of their staff was so exceptional and knowledgeable we ended up buying every article we needed from them. Their quality and selection is great; prices very reasonable; and, again, their staff are all super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly (without being pushy). Given ski gear runs in so many different sizes/cuts, I had to try on numerous different options, but they have so many brands they'll have whatever you need to your fitting. Ohhh boy, was I ready to go when I found out the about nearest slopes' opening! I scrambled to get my stuff together-- I'd been dying to get out there! Alas, my boyfriend got new skis that needed to be mounted, which usually takes about a week, sometimes up to 2 weeks when it's busy... so we thought we might have to push back our trip... But! Rock Mountain saved the day and got it done it in 3 days! And they even didn't even give us crap for the short notice :) Beyond the expedited service, the staff was incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. I love outdoors stores where the staff is passionate about the sports, have extensive experience, great stories, and advice. The store itself is fantastic. It's huge inside, 2 stories, but the layout makes it easy to find stuff. It also has a nice decorative touch-- with wooden benches and a Christmas tree on one side, old school skis mounted on the walls, and a GONDOLA on the upper level-- so it doesn't feel like you're at a ski depot. The ski/snowboard equipments, men's wear, and furniture (?) are downstairs. The whole upstairs is for ladies and children. When I first walked up the stairs, I was a little intimidated. It was very boutique-like, with fashionable, dainty ski jackets and accessories. But beyond that section, they had a whole parade of snow wear. I like that they carry such a variety, from furrr-trendy to plain, reliable black pants. Even if you aren't into skiing/shredding specifically, this is a good place to shop for winter clothes and accessories. Some of the items were overpriced ($80 for a hat...?), but they had a lot of sale going on too. Yay for ski season!! read more

I'm done with this place... what awful customer service. I'd been coming to Rocky Mountain Ski shop for the last 15 years, I even bought my first snowboard here. But, after my last experience, I'm finding somewhere else to go. I recently dropped my board off to be waxed for an upcoming trip, something I'd been doing for years here. In the past, I'd shrugged off less than par customer service figuring it was someone having a bad day or whatever. But, this last time was the straw that broke the camels back. I walked in and no one could care less. There was a very tall man standing by the entrance way who looked bothered that I even walked in. I asked him several questions about my snowboard and he just looked at me like I was an alien. Finally, a younger man with longer hair came up and he at least acted like he had a personality. I then needed to purchase some new goggles and the women upstairs were rude and didn't even bother to help me or talk to me. They just pointed to a shelf a goggles and continued their oh so very important conversation between themselves.... did I mention I was the ONLY person in the store?!?! The only nice part of this experience was the dog laying by the doorway, and that dog was more interested and had more personality than anyone that worked there that day. When I picked up my snowboard that same young man with the longer hair was there, thank goodness and I appreciate him because he seems to be the only halfway decent person that gives a damn in that store. I ended up going to REI to purchase the rest of my accessories for my trip and I have to say that I'm finding a new place to tune and wax my board as well as shop for any kind of ski/showboard accessories in the future. It's a shame after so long of shopping here that this place has become what it has and I'm frustrated I ever spent so much money and time here in the past just to be treated like an annoying fly on the wall and get more attention from the dog in the front than any employee in that store. read more

My bf and I went here to get him some gear for our upcoming snowboarding trip. We were helped by Tony, who was extremely friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. At first glance, the prices appear to be higher than Sun and Ski Sports (Discover Mills), but Tony gave Mike a discount on his boots - for no reason. They're not last year's model or anything. So it ended up being cheaper than Sun and Ski. However, without a discount of some sort, it IS more expensive - I'm relatively certain. But Tony's expertise might be worth the difference. He even steered us away from Cataloochee Ski Area, which was where we were planning on trying. He said Sugar Mountain's worth the little bit of extra distance and expense, so we're gonna try it! I wish I had talked to him before I went off half-cocked and bought half of my shit online. Sometimes being impulsive will bite you in the ass. Live and learn! read more

I have yet to actually buy anything myself, but being a deal hunter and snowboard enthusiast this is one of the other ski shops ITP that I direct people to. Granted some of the normal prices stuff is a bit expensive and can be found online for a better deal. I have been here two occasions as the other two attempts, they were already closed before the actual time listed. On one visit, I came with my best friend trying to find something for her boyfriend for christmas back in '11. Since we going on a trip to Denver later in January, the sales person ( A skier) showed us the snowboarding luggage they had in stock. Though we didn't get a deal, she chose the black and white plaid with red accent burton wheel snowboard travel bag. We then later went back to Peter Glen Ski shop up the road to return the same snowboard bag but in all black back. I'm glad she did, cause when we arrived in Denver, their snowboard bag was easy to spot out at the baggage claim, while my other friend was still trying to decipher if his all back burton bag was his after the third time it circled back to us. Lesson learn, tie a various colored handkerchief so it's easy to spot. My 2nd visit was with another friend when they had their annual sale. The parking lot was so packed, that they opened the side lot. Even with all the people there, each sales person was helpful on helping my friend. An elderly woman who worked the women's and kids outerwear section was able to find a waterproof bib in here petite size granted it was in the kids section. Next was the salesmen in the snowboard and snowboard boots section. He was very helpful and brought out so many snowboard boots to see what size and model fitted her properly. I think he brought out at least 5-6 different boxes and boots. Also since they do lease snowboards and bindings, I recommended my cousin to stop so that he could pick up a good board with out spending the same on rent. Of course he was impatient to wait for me to go with him, but I'm glad that they didn't sucker him into getting a board beyond his current skill level. We also learned that though you only pay half the cost of the total that season and the next the season after, you actually have to return it to the store after the season is done. Still, it's not a bad deal as most Atlantan's aren't snowboarding year round. I think I might be tempted to pick up a new '13 never summer board next season from here. read more

Very Disappointing! I went to Rocky Mountain while visiting Atlanta from South Carolina. I had looked at the website to see that they had a few 27.5 ski boots I could look at and try on. They were busy and there was a salesman being very helpful with another customer so I was hopeful. But as I waited this sales man called for another guy to help me. It was clear from the get go that he had no desire to spend any time with me. He said the fitting process would take an hour to an hour and a half and very obvious from his attitude that he did not want to spend that much time with me. He measured my foot and pronounced that I needed a 26.5. I have a size 12 foot and have been wearing 27.5. All other stores I have been in have measured me to be a 27 or 28. Even the 27.5s I have tried on in other stores have been a tight fit. He brought out 26.5 ski boots that were extremely uncomfortable. I have a few issues with my feet that he was not willing to address. I asked for the 27.5 boots and he refused to bring them out. He said he could not put me in a 27.5 and that if if that was what I wanted he could not help me. He suggested I go to Peter Glenn down the road. read more

This past weekend, we went in looking for ski clothes and we came across a huge selection of ski-wear from all different brands of jackets, pants, gloves, etc with a very good price range! All of the staff throughout the entire store were so helpful and really took the time to talk with us and see what we were looking for. They were so knowledgable in all things skiing and snowboarding, and you could really tell each of them had a passion for what they do.
