I had tarped the roof and consulted with the project manager who advised emergency remediation, and they came quickly to "double-check" and reinforce my tarp work so that water would not pour in. So far so good. Given the Thanksgiving holiday, they were not able to begin work until a couple weeks out, and I was accommodating. Then in early December we had a snap of VERY cold weather, and ProTech advised it was too cold to work. Again, I was accommodating. Then it was the Christmas holidays... then it was New Years... then it was "too cold" again... Soon it was approaching March of 2017 and little progress had been made on repairing my roof. Contact with the project manager became more sporadic. Ultimately it was well into spring before work was underway, and then it was very slow. One day, they came and FINALLY undertook the work - though I was not at home and had little notice (which was fine enough). However, the project manager said there was more damage, roof trusses had to be replaced, etc. and increased the damage estimate substantially. I didn't have issue with this per se, but I asked the project manager to share pictures and a details list of the additional work so that I had this documentation for my records. I never received any of this information. While the bulk of the work was completed (the roofing and "truss repair") almost a YEAR LATER, the additional work to replace the rainspouts and fascia trim and finish painting went uncompleted for months. My project manager was MIA. Several months later, the finish tasks were "completed" but sloppily. When they painted, they had used the wrong colour paint. This was partly my fault, as I had left the leftover paint for them from the original homeowner; however, when they painted, then splashed broad swaths of the wrong colour paint on the siding - work that was not even part of the repair - and I couldn't fathom why they felt compelled to do this. Eventually we got the right colour paint and this part of the task was completed. But the rainspouts were replaced with substandard quality workmanship, and after a few conversations with the new project manager (apparently my original PM had been terminated for failing to keep up with projects), I felt so tired of dealing with them that I just wanted them gone. It had been over a year at this point. I received an invoice that included several hundred dollars for "debris removal", and I questioned this charge because I still have a pile of roofing and boards with nails sticking out on the side of my house. I wrote a letter to the project manager asking for an adjustment to the invoice in good faith. This request was not acknowledged and they happily charged the full amount for what I felt was substandard and incomplete work. I strongly recommended to my insurance company to never recommend them again (and they took them off of their providers list), and I will do the same to advise against ProTech to anyone who asks.

At final insurance review, the claim adjuster said they did things they didn't have to and the sale guy said it was required and would send the information to the insurance guy. He never sent the information to the insurance guy and the deadline for the claim came and neither I or the insurance adjuster heard from Protech. I thought about suing them when I found out I had a right to Aluminium siding but didn't at the time. Almost 6 months AFTER the claim was paid and closed, they sent me an invoice, Do NOT use this company. If you have had siding installed from Elk River Exteriors beware. You may have been told there is…read morea warranty on it. They do not warranty due to their faulty installation. This is a complaint for siding issue that I filed with the installer July 28th of 2022 for what are called nail pops on my siding. They are visible on three sides of the house. East, West, and South. No nail pops on the North side of the house. When I contacted the installer, they told me that I needed to file a warranty claim against the maker of the siding. (I also sent Elk River exterior photos of the siding.) Elk River Exterior claimed it was a problem with the siding. So I filled out a warranty form and sent pictures to the manufacturer (PLY GEM). Also the owner of Elk River Exterior came and took pictures of the problem and sent to Ply Gem. After much time of going back and forth with the manufacture (Ply Gem) and the Installer (Elk River Exteriors), the manufacture of the siding (Ply Gem) finally sent a Technical Service Representative to inspect the siding in April. His response to the (Nail Pops) was found to be the direct result of improper installation techniques or practices. Some of the discrepancies noted but not limited to include *Nailing at end of nail slots *Nails protruding * Nails from nail hem causing heat buildup/water retention between the panel and fastener. * Nailed to tight, nails at opposite ends of nails, and /or panels that were not given proper clearance to expand as temperatures varied. Ply Gem encouraged us to contact the company that installed siding. But Elk River Exteriors still insist that it is a manufacturing issue with the siding and as of June 19th, 2023 I received a voicemail from the Owner of Elk River Exterior that they will not be correcting the issue.

We'd taken care of the demo and landscaping to prep the site. Chad and his crew took it from there and did a really fabulous job. We have a challenging site because of heavy clay soil and large tree roots. They carefully set the posts and quickly got to work - late in the fall - on putting up the structure. The deck went up quickly and they did everything - including the horizontal privacy cladding, a custom bumpout to integrate the new deck into the 70s house, a custom double swing door to access the storage space, and a custom railing using wire panel - exactly to spec and with a high degree of craftsmanship. Chad and his crew were always timely, courteous, and did a great job cleaning up the worksite each day. We really appreciate the great work they did and have already been so thankful to finally be able to store some unsightly items out of the way and can't wait until spring when we paint the house and stain the deck. Finally, as a female homeowner, I really appreciated that they recognized that I was the person in the equation who cared most about the outcome of the project, who had the strongest viewpoints on the design decisions, and who needed to be consulted as the project went along. This is not always the case and it's refreshing to work with a crew who doesn't ignore "the wife."
