I called to schedule an estimate and was greeted warmly by the receptionist upon arrival. My appraiser, Erika, met me right away. I pointed out the damaged areas, and she quickly inspected the truck, taking notes for a few minutes before stepping back inside. About five minutes later, she returned with a clear, detailed estimate. Since I was paying out of pocket (self-pay), I needed to cover a deposit--essentially the cost of the parts--before they could order them. Erika explained that once the parts arrived, I could drop the truck off, and the repair would take about four days. A few days later, I called to make the deposit over the phone using Zelle to avoid the credit card surcharge. The next day, Erika followed up to confirm the parts were ordered and expected to arrive by Friday or, at the latest, the following Monday. We scheduled the drop-off for that Monday, and true to their word, I had the truck back by Friday--fully repaired and looking great. Throughout the entire process, Erika kept me updated with a quick status call every few days, which made everything feel organized and stress-free. This was at one of only two Toyota Certified Collision Centers in the area, and the difference really showed. The process was great through and through with this Gerber location. They got my truck in quick and walked me through the process. I had to get a rental, and they asked if I needed a ride there (which I didn't, but I thought that was great service). Lew was incredible, and told me what he predicted they would have to do. Before doing the work, Lew gave me a call to tell me exactly what work they were going to do and got the green light from insurance. When I picked up my truck, it looked like it hadn't been hit at all. They had to replace a door, and everything was in working order. Some of the spots they had to paint, I couldn't even tell it had been hit before. Not only that, but my truck looked better than when I dropped it off. They washed it and made it shine. As for pricing, the insurance company paid for everything, but I'd definitely go back there for how great of a job they did. I was quoted a 10-day turnaround after paying a little over $600 upfront. After taking my deposit, Rick told me my vehicle was somehow unique and that he had ordered the wrong parts--even though he had my VIN from the beginning. This delayed the repair, and ultimately he stopped following through on the job altogether. I tried to be patient and even offered to work with him on a revised plan. He assured me he would "take care of me" and possibly help with some smaller repairs instead, but after making those promises he effectively stopped responding and missed deadlines. It's now been nearly two months, the work was never completed, and I am out over $600. I've filed a chargeback with my credit card company because I was unable to resolve the issue directly. Based on my experience, the pricing may seem attractive, but the follow-through was not there. I would recommend being cautious before paying a deposit with this vendor.
