Michette was short of amazing in helping my family during this time. Efficient, warm, professional are just a few words to describe our experience with Michette. A Community Funeral Home & Sunset Cremations is a beautiful place for your loved one to be viewed. Along with Michette, the staff was a team in coordinating the services. At no point did we feel neglected in any of our needs. We appreciated the amenities such as the kitchen area where my family was able to take a quick break for a coffee. The kid's room is perfect for when your little one becomes restless. Can't forget the spacious and clean bathrooms. Michette, Thank you is not enough for holding our hand through this process. Your attention to detail, with not only funeral arrangements but with our culture, will forever hold a place in my heart. Going above and beyond in honor of my aunt gave a comfort feeling as if you were aligned to be in that position. Titi Angie would have loved everything. No cambies nunca! Cuídate, prima!

I cannot stress enough how fortunate we were to have A Community Funeral Home recommended by a friend. We've required their services twice in the last five years. This is a difficult time for anyone who experiences the death of a loved one. Both times we've employed their services they were exceptional.

Greenwood Cemetery is a historic cemetery just east of the downtown Orlando, Florida area. The…read morecemetery was established in 1880. Prior to 1880, the people who resided in the Orlando, Florida area had no permanent burial location. Eight residents of the area purchased twenty-six acres of land for a cost of $1,800. Greenwood Cemetery has since grown to over eighty acres. The cemetery has many of Orlando's past prominent citizens buried there, including multiple Orlando mayors. One area of Greenwood Cemetery is the heartbreaking section known as Babyland and is the resting spot of children who passed away under the age of five. Greenwood Cemetery offers tours usually around Halloween and there are plenty of ghost stories. One humorous story is that of Fred Weeks. Mr. Weeks was a northern businessman who was swindled by three men who sold him useless swamp land and billed it as prime real estate. Weeks responded by buying a piece of land close to Greenwood Cemetery and erected a tombstone with the three men's name on it and the biblical verse, "A certain man went down from Jeruand fell among thieves." The men bought the land back from Weeks. But Weeks was not done with these less than honorable men. Upon his mausoleum in Greenwood Cemetery, he had the men's names inscribed along with the biblical verse again. It is said that Weeks haunts the graveyard, as do countless other restless spirits. Greenwood Cemetery is an important part of the history of Orlando and definitely worth a trip.

I immediately thought of Porta Coeli, and so glad that I did. Upon my grandma's passing at her nursing facility, Porta Coeli sent in to have her picked up. As we could see through the window, we could immediately see the compassion, care and diligence in the way they handled her. It was as if it was their relative, and it gave us lots of comfort. Both staff members wore formal suits, had an extremely clean and professional demeanor, and were solemn and respectful to our suffering. Once outside, they reminded us that - due to funeral protocols - we could not see her, however they stopped to speak with us and let us know that she is well taken care of and will be taken immediately to the funeral home. We were assured I would get a phone call later in the morning from the funeral director to proceed further. That's when Ludmila de Oliveiros (Mila) called. She was an angel. Her soothing voice and human compassion is simply worthy of recognition. She made an appointment with me to finalize paperwork and else, and from that point forward, all expectations exceeded. There was no pressure at all in sales of any kind. She cared more about our wishes and needs, yet found the perfect time to suggest some memory items that our family would appreciate in due time. We had my grandma's fingerprint taken, in case we wanted to have on a piece of jewelry in the future. Glad we did. Unfortunately, and due to COVID 19 (and not of any fault of Porta Coeli), it took over a month to have all finalized. The system is so backed up, that getting ashes and a certificate seemed like an eternity. Nonetheless, Mila made the time to arrange the pick up of ashes in a ceremonial and most dignified experience I could have imagined. She gave me a place to mourn and take pictures, and feel at peace. For that, we are very grateful.
