I can't believe I hadn't visited this place before! As far as I am aware, this place opened up this year (I did walk past it before a couple of months ago) and is located on Pinfold Street, just up from the New Street Station entrance. It's very smart looking building with large glass windows and a nice logo on the signage, but (as with most shops) you wouldn't really know the extent of the products stocked unless you head inside.
I popped in to have a mooch and get some present ideas for forthcoming birthdays. The shop isn't large, but has a really interesting selection of stuff that you would find hard to find elsewhere.
The collection of balsamic vinegar's and oils was astounding (and really well priced for first press top quality produce). All of the bottles are really pretty too; so perfect as a gift for the cook in your life. I was particularly drawn to the infused oils (rosemary, mint and a few others), which were only £6.50 for really premium stuff! They also had some nice looking pasta, a great selection of cooking oils and bags of dark olives which looked delicious.
After having a chat with the lovely owners, I settled on some greek dark roast coffee (a bargain at £1.50 for the bag) and picked up a coconut bar with cranberries (for a quick sugar boost) for £1.20.
The shop is being refitted this month to allow for more fridge space (so more fresh olives, dips and meats) and will start stocking other interesting products following this change. If you love your oils, vinegars, greek coffee or are just in the market for an interesting snack - pop in! Feel free to ask the owners any questions as well, they were super helpful on my visit and I have got a wishlist of delicious cooking items to grab next time I'm around from it. read more
