He started the work within the following 10 days, and he completed it to my satisfaction and in a timely manner, even during a rainy day. My impression is that this company's tactic is to wait long enough that the client forgets what was discussed and then up-sells without discussing. I asked about a coloring and he said that it doesn't do well. Then he said it would turn white. After they took out the old concrete they found what they thought was a good base material in place. They we're supposed to remove it and put in gravel. They left the old in. When I asked what the discount would be he said he would give me $150 off for the gravel. Nothing for the labor they didn't have to do. After the pour they started making the contraction lines. One of the guys who seemed most experienced said there should be lines where the concrete turned. The Forman agreed but said it would be too hard. Well sure enough a week later cracks appeared at those locations. When they where done the Forman said they used too much water. A couple weeks later I call Travis to come see the cracks. He said concrete cracks. Then I told him that the Forman said they used too much water and it would take longer to cure. Travis said you can't use too much water. This of coarse is the leading cause of concrete failure and he said it might take a year to cure. Then as the concrete started to to cure black blotches started showing up. These I learned later were from slopping on a drying agent instead of spraying. Then the crazing a the brown broom marks because the broom was in the mud. In my opinion these guys didn't do a good job and all Travis could say is sorry you didn't like the job we did. $16600. And it might not last long.

And once the rains started we accrued significant damage and cost to both the outside and the inside of our home including mold damage and total inside ceiling needing repair now (Pix included). The owner told us yesterday in person that they would fix it. Now today he writes saying that he won't. Sadly this is just really bad business and very costly mistakes on their part that is left for us to pick up their improper work. I warn anyone to look around for other options and businesses before moving ahead with Rougue Valley Roofing. They do not stand behind their work and they do not behave professionally. What a mess. One of the things Steve promised was to keep us regularly statused with clear communication. THAT was a false promise on his part. He seldom communicated clearly and did not keep us statused. As the project continued over the next 7 months to the present day, it became apparent that Steve is not planful and does not understand project management. The first -- and best -- thing that happened was he hired Joe McKuen (arguably the best tile guy in the Rogue Valley) to install the radiant heat and Spanish tiles that we had already purchased. Joe did a flawless job in the first two weeks. Very impressive. Understandably, the custom-made French doors and glass panels took overlong to be fabricated due to supply chain and Covid issues. When we asked, we got an update from Steve but he certainly didn't keep us in the loop. Finally, in the middle of winter Steve said he was going to take out the back wall and install the French doors and sliding screens. That occurred over about a week or so in late February. He, his father (a very experienced framer), and the owner of the door fabrication company with two of his employees finally installed the doors EXCEPT for the screen doors. It turned out Steve had never placed the order for the screened doors. According to Steve, the price of the screened doors had doubled in the intervening months. He decided he wanted to find a different vendor although I said we'd pick up the cost difference. We're still waiting for the screened doors and for the paint stains to be power-washed off the brick patio. Steve hasn't returned our calls in over a month. We have no idea if he finally placed an order for screened doors -- or if he intends to finish the job. It appears that after he got his last check from us, he just walked off the job and doesn't intend to complete it. Steve projected that this job would be completed by late December at the latest. It is almost the beginning of May and has not been completed so far. Based on this behavior on his part, we do NOT recommend him or the company he owns, Rivercross Construction.
