I came on this placed strictly based on the 4 star rating but my god this is lucky to be getting one star from me. Maybe, I will give them the benefit of doubt and assume that the take out or a la carte might taste better but the buffet...lets say a one star rating is very generous. If you want tasteless Indian buffet this is the place you need to come. It has a nice, beautiful interior, friendly staff, but then a go serve urself with napkins/cutlery from The side table service. $18.99 for a buffet is not bad as long as the food is decent but I found it very velow average and defiantly will not be coming back. read more

This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in town. Unfortunately it's quite far away for me so I almost never go anymore. We were in the area on the weekend so we decided to check it out for dinner. They have renovated and expanded their restaurant from the little take-out counter that they used to be to include a sit-down section. They now offer a very reasonable dinner buffet for $14, which includes lots of choices such as fish marsala, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo (fall-off-the-bone meaty chunks marbled with fat), tandoori chicken (which includes dark meat chunks), a bunch of vegetarian options such as paneer and eggplant (don't know the names), delicious soft fresh naan and basmati rice, a small salad bar and a small fruit/desert bar. Service is excellent - a man who I assume to be the owner came around to greet every table, and the waitress was on the ball and refilled our water as necessary, got me more napkins, and brought us more naan. Partway through my meal I ordered a lamb curry to go (for lunch the next day), and it showed up right on time at the end of dinner. It's not as cheap as it used to be (it's now $10 for the curry with a choice of either 2 naans or a serving of basmati - I chose the 2 naans and still ordered a side of basmati, which was $4), but it was still plenty of food for two lunch servings. The only thing that is different is they don't seem to cook their basmati rice with the fragrant whole spices in it - you used to find big chunks of it mixed in the rice, to which I thought added great flavour. All in all a reasonably-priced, tasty, casual-but-classy Indian restaurant. Would definitely recommend it and will be back whenever I'm in the area! read more

I happen to be going to a potluck and needed a quick dish that would be tasty and reasonably priced. Service was quick and the server was helpful. You can walk in and order for take away or have a seat and enjoy a sit down meal. Menu is on the wall or via paper. Service is reasonable. One person taking the orders for both in restaurant and for takeout. Two servers. I waited 10 min for my take out but considering the food came out fresh, that's pretty reasonable. I ordered a pound of fish pakora and 15 samoosa's and one pound of sweets. Needless to say that was more than enough for a group of 15 to 20, especially for a potluck. Have been to other restaurants and the prices here are reasonable. Sit in area is not too bad, booths and tables. Decor- a little bland but when you walk in you get hit with the aroma of pure Indian cuisine. They cater which is great. Parking is alll around and way to get in and out is tight off of 34th so be careful! Enjoy! Side note: funny thing, one of the guys from the North came to this place in the South and ordered the same thing for the party we both ended up in! One of the staff (waitress) came in and used the bathroom but never washed her hands. Then she went straight to the kitchen. That really put me off. I cannot comment on the male staff, but a couple of the female staff were extremely rude and probably racist! Visited the store with a friend on Friday (November 13th, 2020) and I understand that it was a very busy day, but that doesn't justify the service we received. Firstly, the staff were hesitant to assist us (probably because we are not from North India), and they were calling people who were behind me in the queue to assist them. We patiently waited for over 10 minutes in front of the counter as they completely ignored us, which is totally unacceptable. And when they finally decided to assist us, I noticed how they were packing our order in a regular box and plastic cover instead of the special boxes and cover that they are using for everyone else around us! During our 45 minute wait in the store (over 30 minutes in the queue and 10 minutes in front of the counter) we have not seen any other customer walking out with a regular box and plastic bag! It's very frustrating how they assume that since we are not from North India, we don't celebrate the festival or we don't deserve the same level of service as the others. They have completely ruined our festive mood for me to sit and write such a long rant on the day of the festival! read more

If you like three day old food, I would recommend this place. The buffet was salty and had a few things empty which took 30 minutes to fill. It was all salty at best. Even the salad in the buffet was wilted and old. The food is just horrible. The service was slow and they weren't busy. We got the buffet and they brought out the naan towards the end of the meal. Even the washroom was horrible...they only have boiling hot water to wash your hands in the washroom. On top of everything, we had to pay the 15% gratuity for a party of 8 or more and the service was horrible. They also charged us for an extra buffet. We realized after we paid so the server gave us a refund in cash but without refunding the GST or even the gratuity paid on that. Talk about scamming your customers!! Seriously, worst Indian restaurant in the city. I would never go back here....EVER!! read more

I think this is the best Indian restuarant in Edm now. They don't add excessive salt or fat. The buffet is fresh and the prices are reasonable. Good selection too. Sometimes (depending on choices on the particular day) the buffet is amazing! read more

Hands down the best Indian buffet I've ever had, and certainly the best in Edmonton. Fresh food, attentive service, and very affordable. I like to go when I'm ravenous so I have plenty of room to try everything. I went in there because I love Vegetarian Samosas. They have a special of $0.75 each so I gave the sales lady $5 and asked for $5 worth of samosas. She punched in something in the cash register, I didn't pay attention but it never gave out a receipt. When I got home I ate them with my room mate there were exactly 6 Samosas Which equals to $4.50 She must have miscalculated or is bad in Arithmetic. I should have gotten $0.50 cents change (I did order in English since I am not Punjabi, like most of their customers, staff, cooks and probably the owner). I mentioned it another fellow East Indian also not Punjabi, he called me two weeks later and told me the exact same thing happened to him the previous weekend, and he also ordered it in English. He didn't complain to the supervisor for 50 cents is not worth it. Even if there is GST = 5% which is 22.5 Cents on $4.50 In my friends case she also punched something in the cash register and no receipt came out. Next time I will wait for the sales lady to put my $5 into the cash drawer, close the cash drawer and then I will ask for a receipt. |If she inputs the transaction correctly the second time in order to produce a receipt. That would mean it is their policy and training to scam customers who pay in cash, or don't order in Punjabi. Also there would be a strong possibility that the C.R.A. has lost tens of Thousands of G.S.T. dollars that were never reported from this Business? I will get a RECEIPT next time and Report to the C.R.A. fraud department. It is not fair that everyone is supposed to obey the tax laws of the Federal Government but a few do what is only in their best financial interest SHAME ON ALL INDIA SWEETS Owners and Management. Also the cooks to get a City of Edmonton "FOOD HANDLING PERMIT" all chefs are supposed to wear hair nets? and where was the sign in the Men's bathroom, that "ALL EMPLOYEES MUST WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE RETURNING TO WORK" I didn't this was optional? maybe it is Punjab INDIA, not here you losers. Love Punjabi sweets! in my opinion they have the Best Butter Chicken in Edmonton! it has a unique flavour here that i havent been able to compare anywhere else! I love that they cater and have great big tasty samosas! Their yellow rice is also delicious with a sweet after taste love love love. The service could be a lil better and staff a lil friendlier. I love the Indian food here. You can't go wrong with ordering anything here. I suggest the daal fry, butter chicken, chicken curry, veggie spring rolls, and if you see "hakkan noodles" in the buffet, get it! The owner goes around and makes sure everything is okay with the customers. The atmosphere is nice and they have several large TVs! This place is perfect for those hearty appetites, the food was excellect apparently the location caters to the industrial crowd however I was delighted to notice that the buffet was clean and well set out with a collection of authentic Punjabi treats. The butter chicken melted in your mouth and basically I went back for seconds. This type of fare really should be located in downtown Edmonton not in the industrial area. Without a doubt, my favourite Indian food restaurant in Edmonton. Prices are incredibly reasonable, which is different from a lot of other Indian restaurants in Edmonton. This also happens to be my wife's favourite Indian food - she loves the channa masala, whereas my favourites are the fish pakora and the aloo gobi. The staff are always very welcoming and attentive, even if you're just coming in for take-out. Definitely worth your time to check it out. read more

The food is mediocre, but what you have to look out for is how workers tend to try to rip you off whenever they get a chance. They will also scrap the receipt before you can ask for one, it's mind blowing that this happens. Beware, These guys are the biggest suckers I have ever seen in my life. I went there about 4 times and every time they charged me almost Double the amount I was suppose to pay. Every Cashier will charge you super Extra, i was served by the owner, indian woman and a Philippino woman. To my surprise They all over charged me.
