Luckily, he gave us contact information for McGlade Fine Finish, a recent transplant from the east coast, as a possible alternative. Michael (McGlade) did not disappoint. From the moment he promptly returned our phone call, Michael impressed us with his experience and attention to detail. He was meticulous in measuring and remeasuring a room that lacked one straight wall or floor to create a beautiful vanity and two closet insets that gave us much needed storage with many custom features. He sweated the details and it shows. He submitted an estimate that he adhered to strictly, even supplying a higher end interior finish at no extra cost, met every deadline and always called or messaged to let us know he was on his way. All the business surrounding the product was a welcome change from the Santa Fe normal of slipping deadlines and sudden emergencies. But the real payoff was the quality of the finished cabinetry. It is a joy to walk into the new space and open and close the beautiful doors and drawers that look as if they grew organically from that challenging space. We're already thinking of new projects and, best of all, Michael won't be retiring anytime soon.

My wife and I absolutely love it. The craftsmanship is first rate. Michael was professional throughout the design and installation process. The design and installation were meticulous. He did most of the work at his shop, so we were not really ever inconvenienced by the process. Being that he did this work for us a couple of years ago, I can also testify that the bench has held up wonderfully. Despite our dog and a robo-vacuum, the finish has held up great. The bench is sturdy and provides us with a lot of storage (more than appears in the photos on his website). I also looks great in our kitchen and provides us with additional seating. I would not hesitate to use Michael again nor would I hesitate to recommend him to anyone else.

Design Solutions may do an acceptable job of renovating a structure, but it does it at the cost of…read moresafety and goodwill. It sends sub-contractors who do not have proper safety equipment, such as ladders. These subcontractors set up ladders and then 'leap' on and off a roof at the risk of their well-being. These subs also regularly steal the electricity and water of contiguous residences. When that conduct is reported to Design Solutions, they like to say their subcontractors are only "borrowing" your electricity and water without ever explaining how it will be repaid. Design Solutions also does a very poor job of supervising its subs, who throw trash and other refuse onto adjoining property. It is done with such regularity that it suggests this is an ingrained custom and habit of this company. So, if work is being done close to your residence, mount your Ring cameras so you can rebut Design Solutions' customary denials that the quality of their supervision is sub-standard.

(I've been involved in 9 remodeling projects in 5 towns.) At several junctures of the project - beginning with my original idea to expand a small porch and later when we were working on details such as cabinetry and lighting - he offered suggestions that achieved my goals but were more cost-effective and better aesthetically. In addition to improving the functionality of the small porch, he designed and built a cover for a large irregularly shaped portal/patio that neither felt cozy nor provided any protection from the New Mexico sun. The finished result adds about 400 sq. feet of what feels like another room to the house. He also managed various updates to the interior that fulfilled the potential of its already excellent "bones." The house's previous owners had used him for a complicated drainage/foundation project, and he came to the real estate inspection on a Saturday afternoon just so that he could answer any questions I had and facilitate the sale for his clients. His crew and sub-contractors were top-notch: skilled, respectful of the property and beyond patient with my dogs. Tim truly is a Designer/Builder in the largest sense of the words, and I really envy anyone that hires him to build a house from scratch since I'm sure that would be an even more impressive display of his vision and competence.

Lack of follow for correction of a cabinet drawer that is not even or even secure to the main cabinets. The cabinets were not painted in certain areas properly. Hector did not show up on time to make a correction as promised, and then he called me while I was driving to work. I understand if you're going to be late so communication is key. I have taken videos and sent them to his manager Antonio and Hector with no response. Hector came once to make the paint adjustments and to realign the drawer. The paint was fine, however the adjustment of the drawer was subpar. Other than that cabinets are well-made and beautiful. I still want the drawer repaired because it is not mounted properly and uneven. My general contractor, who is doing other things to my bathroom, pointed these imperfections out to me. Please see videos and pictures. Again my intent is not to ruin someone's business, but there's a lack of communication lack of follow up and some areas of lack of quality.
