I brought my cat with fever and I was told that they don't know what exactly is the problem. They took a blood sample and prescribed a strong pain killer. ( opioids). 8 syringes!! Long story short I got hit with almost $500 bill. I came back the next day and wanted to return the opioids since I haven't used and never planned to use it. Of course, they won't accept. What I learned and I advise anyone is to not be afraid to ask questions! Why do I need that or the other one! Is it really necessary? If we knew that that pain killer is for cats that had surgery or strong pain we would've refused. read more

I always take my Shiba Inu here since the day we got her a few months back and Dr. Lapin has been there with us every step of the way. The place we got her from said to go to their vets if I didn't want to pay for her having some goup in her eyes and to me, it was about who I trusted and who was able to help me understand my pets health. I paid what I needed to with Dr. Lapin because she is always understanding and tries new methods before jumping to conclusions. She is always knowledgeable and can thoroughly answer any question I have. My dog loves going to her office and truly loves being handled by them. They're sweet and caring and love her like one of their own. I feel confident with this group of professionals and couldn't be more thankful that I found someone who cares about my dog as much as I do. read more

Our 15 year old senior cat was wheezing and having a difficult time breathing so we brought him to All Paws. He's getting older and has never had issues before so we were really worried. They took an x-ray to make sure there was no fluid in his lungs (which thankfully there wasn't!). His blood work came back normal (again- thankfully!), so Dr. Lapin was able to give him an injectable antibiotic that was good for two weeks. It was so much better and less stressful than having to give him antibiotics by mouth. Within a couple of days he was his old self again! We were so relieved and would definitely trust the doctors and staff at All Paws to take care of our fur kids. read more

I live in Chicago and have a regular vet; however, my dog needed specialized treatment and a friend recommended All Paws and Dr. Lapin. Wow! I was welcomed as a new client, treated like I have been a customer for years. My dog was treated so well by all involved and we received valuable insight to his condition, his ongoing care and treatment plan. This clinic is well worth the hour drive each way for his treatment. My current vet is great, but they just don't have the specialized equipment needed. The expense of other Chicago vets was much higher than All Paws. All of this came as a huge relief because as an animal lover, the worst feeling is not being able to remove the pain your pet is suffering. I am a huge animal lover therefore have had many animals of all different kinds... resulting in countless vet visits. This place is by far the best I have ever been to. Dr. Linda Lapin saw both our cat and our dog for ear issues. We adopted our cat and when he was found he had a chronic ear infection. Our cat always had your problems and we could never get them fixed, having taken him to countless vets and giving him medication his ear infections always came back and we're always dirty. When we moved to this area we decided to take him in and check this vet out. One main distinct difference that I am noticing about this vet is that they are not only about finding out what's wrong with your animal but then educating you to be a better pet owner. They do not rush you and you are welcome to ask them any kind of question you have even if it doesn't have to do with what you're in there for. Dr. Lapin is so knowledgeable and is realistic. She treated our cat with his ear infection and gave us distinct instructions on how to take care of him during the process of putting the medication in his ears. Since then his ears have been completely perfect, a complete 180. I mean perfectly clean no smell no aching no you're tilting no infections nothing... he is completely healed. We also took our dog in who we recently adopted and had the exact same experience. I'm very impressed. Vets are always going to be expensive, it sucks but it's just what it is. I can say though that their prices are for sure decent and acceptable. I highly recommend them.... and they have availability 24 hours a day for emergencies which gives me peace of mind. read more

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Linda Lapin for the past 15 years. She was recommended to me by a veterinary specialist shortly after I moved into the area. She is not only a wonderful veterinarian, but a wonderful person. She is an excellent diagnostician; she has wonderful follow-through with her patients; she is very caring; she is an excellent general surgeon; and her rates are very reasonable. I wish I could find a doctor for myself that I thought as highly of as I do of Dr. Lapin. I have several dogs and cats because I do rescue work. My pets are my family and their health is extremely important to me. Dr. Lapin has made it possible for me to provide the quality of care that I feel my pets deserve. I have friends in Chicago and along the north shore who bring their pets to Dr. Lapin when they need second opinions in diagnosing illnesses with their pets. My husband and I had a great experience meeting Dr. Lapin for the first time. We brought our very difficult cat in for an exam prior to scheduling a dental cleaning appointment. We were greated by very friendly office staff, and taken in for our exam immediately after filling out the necessary paperwork. Dr. Lapin was kind and very understanding of our cats very hostile behavior. She spent nearly an hour with us, answering our various questions and giving our cat time to settle down. She was able to determine that he did not need a cleaning, but was in need of a change in his diet. She recommended we start him on a new food to help him shed a few pounds and gave us detailed instructions on how to feed him and track his weight. Dr. Lapin made suggestions on how we can reduce our pet's anxiety for future visits, and explained what she can do on our next visit in order to perform a thorough exam and obtain a blood sample. We were very relieved, as taking him to the vet is a stressful experience for everyone involved! We left her office feeling confident that we had found a vet who is concerned more about our pets health than in scheduling costly procedures. read more

Took our newly adopted pup here a few weeks back as a recommendation from the shelter we adopted from. The initial visit went as expected, nothing special to note. My concern about this place stems from a follow-up phone call we made, regarding the condition of our dog. We found out some new information regarding a possible health concern from the person who had fostered him the previous few weeks. This information would have been pertinent for the doctor to know, so that he could be treated properly. A phone call was made and a message left with the receptionist, who stated the doctor would call back later that day. Guess what...no call back. In fact, we never received a call back from this place, not the following day or day after that. My wife called approximately 4 days later to cancel the follow-up appointment that was scheduled after the initial visit. The receptionist happily asked how our new dog was doing. When my wife mentioned we went to see a different doctor, who actually treated his condition, the receptionist gave an unpleasant "OK" and hung up. Talk about a complete 180... Of all places I would expect this to happen, a vetrinary clinic is probably one of the last. read more
