Very impressive customer service. The work was immaculate and the follow up was equally impressive. Jack (owner) communicated with me at first in person, on my property, followed by a quote the next day and then a couple of days before the job was to commence and once during wrap up. The final call was to collect a balance and he waited two weeks before doing that. There were several texts send by me; ie these guys are great etc. He did not appear to be bottom line driven but with his focus on my satisfaction. Of course all business owner want to get paid but that never felt like his priority. It's an art to make a client feel the way I did upon completion. Well done! For the reviews that discuss quotes and didn't select them, the cheap comes out expensive. I would expect most painters to have similar quotes and recommend getting 2 or 3 but paying a bit more for a great job done quickly, that's a no brainer to me. fyi; NEVER accept the cheapest quote and there's a subtle art to a contract negotiation. Don't play games and say what your budget is up front. It makes things go smoothly from the start and the business owner will appreciate your forthrightness. The company will say yes, no or counter. My house looks amazing and that was my #1 goal. It's important to mention that I took a bit too long responding as I am a very busy guy who travels a ton. Glad I chose this team and I'm looking forward to the next project!

I AM SO SORRY FOR THIS LATE & LONG OVER DUE REVIEW I HOPE IT'S NOT TOO LATE!…read more I booked Hornet Moving fairly late in my moving process - barely 48 hrs prior - due to the incredibly convenient, straightforward upfront pricing and direct booking, all on their website (way less of a hassle and much faster than filling out a form and waiting to receive an estimate back, like most others). This was my 8th move in 6.5 yrs and my 7 previous moving experiences were painful for a number of reasons, several of those being due to the moving company/movers booked. I was anticipating this move to match the pain of the previous at minimum, possibly worse, due to other circumstances regarding my moving situation (completely unrelated to my confidence in Hornet Moving or any moving company in general). HOWEVER, to my surprise and relief, this was my best experience with a moving company/movers to date!!!! BIG BIG HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO MY MOVING CREW - JARRETT, ARTHUR, and GUSTAVO!!!! My scheduled moving time was in the afternoon (~1 PM) which Hornet Moving makes it clear that afternoon apts are not guaranteed to start right at 1 PM on the dot and could arrive anytime between 1-4 PM (makes sense and is fair enough considering that the crew is likely coming from another moving job booked for that morning). So I was aware of this and did not expect for them to be on time given that there's only so much within their control there. But they WERE on time!!! By the time they got parked where they needed to, unloaded their supplies, and started the moving for my apt unit belongings on the 4th floor and also my remaining storage unit items on the 1st floor, commuted to my new place (about a ~4-5.5 mile trip depending on route, typically between ~10-20 mins depending on traffic/time) and unloaded everything (while also having to rearrange boxes and misc. furniture I had already brought over that were in the way of unloading everything else), they were 100% finished and had already left the driveway before 4:30 PM!!! They also boxed my 65" TV and my 75" TV (which I had saved the original boxes for). I found Hornet Moving from using Google's "AI Mode" to search for movers that handled TVs, including TV mounting service, and options with upfront pricing and/or direct booking entirely online. Hornet Moving came up as a result checking all those boxes!! I found out once the movers arrived that TV mounting is not a service Hornet Moving directly provides as part of the moving job, however, that ended up working out fine since I wasn't able to have my TV mounted at that time anyway due to some electrician work that was not yet complete. Several large and heavy pieces of my furniture are considered "particle board" / -related material items, which are easily damaged during moves due to durability (my previous move before this resulted in almost all of my stuff getting damaged, chipped, scratched, dented, etc. in one way or another due to the movers not wrapping these items well, or at all, and that was during a move within the same apartment building from one unit to another - so none of these items were loaded into a moving truck and/or commuted, yet they still got damaged due to carelessness ). I worried about those items this time around, but Hornet Moving wrapped my furniture properly with TLC and handled everything with the utmost care!!!! All of my belongings made the move safe, sound, and undamaged‼‼‼ Again, best moving experience I've had!!!!! The crew and company was great and easy to work with from start to finish. The online booking process is wonderfully easy and convenient, and they were incredibly prompt and responsive with their communication. 0 complaints to be found, even if I wanted to look for something to nitpick!!! Eric diagnosed the problem and had to climb straight up the side of my building on a metal fire escape-type ladder to locate my air conditioner and replace the damaged part. He could not possibly have been more polite and personable, explaining the process every step of the way, showing me the damaged part as well as a new part so I could see the difference. The units on the rooftop were not marked, so he had to work extra hard to locate mine. He wisely took a video of the location of my unit and also noted every identifying detail to put in my records. He checked the age and warranty of the part and found that there was a partial warranty, which saved me some money. I would highly recommend this company. Great customer service at a fair price.

What they did for me were roof repairs on about a 10 year home. The real reason Southern Star should be a must call for homeowners is I have solar panels. There was some roof damage, caused by squirrels, that precipitated us needing roof repairs. Well, if you have a solar array on your home just getting someone to just look at it has its challenges. Southern Star was the only company I got a response. The only one out of 5. Sure there are logistics to work through when you have solar panels. At the end of the day, the quote given was very reasonable and they were able to do the necessary repairs ASAP. Just surprises all around. If you need repairs on your roof, you should not hesitate to put Southern Star at the top. They are truly super stars in a business that may not have the best of reputations. Thanks to you all.

When I texted Rhett to tell him we had gone with a roofing company whose estimate was more budget friendly for us, within moments I received a hard sell text telling me how the brand of shingles they used were far superior to any other brand of shingles out there and that I needed to consider that in making my decision. Believe me since this was the first new roof on my house in 25+ years I did my research on shingle brands and didn't choose a roofing company using some bargain basement brand of shingles! That $2,000 we saved is now more money that we are able to spend on other needed house projects.
