UPDATE: The very pleasant GM Trystan reached out and addressed each and every one of my concerns. Faith restored in Hornet Moving. Although there was some hiccups and disagreements during the move the management team at Hornet went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Thank you Alex, Jay, and Trystan's for your empathy, kindness, and openness, when identifying a problem and addressing it with the urgency it deserved! Thank you! ---- We had a very great start and end to our move. That was the only great part about the experience. They were initially incredibly efficient and polite and only took 67 minutes to load 90% of our 2 bedroom apartment. It wasn't until trying to packs normal flatscreen TV where problems arose. They will say the TV was too thin or a specialty TV, but it is an ordinary 15mm thickness screen with a 60mm depth. According to Mover Jakobi, this is not a TV. This resulted in a 3 hour delay (that was charged $180/hr for), this was due to the need for a part time manager Jay to drive to Home Depot and pick up TV box (because the one they had is "meant for TVs") according to Mover Jakobi, who also loved walking away from you mid conversation. The very helpful Alex Degrassi attempted to pull him off the job but Jakobi decided to hang out in my doorway for some reason. I was then told I needed to hire a 4th person to help move at a rate of an additional $50 an hour to help pack the "sacred" (according to the movers exact words) TV in a universal box. Called back Alex, Alex tried fixing as much as he could, including getting Jakobi out of there, finally. All in all, I spent 138 minutes just TALKING/Arguing with the various team members of Hornet (that time was at a 'discounted' rate, but really shouldn't have been charged because it included 41 minutes of waiting for a box to show up). They state they stopped the clock during that time but my surveillance footage, time stamped documentation, and periodic check-ins at the truck revealed the gentlemen just hanging out waiting for a box or calming Jakobi down and not working. After 67 minutes of packing, followed by 2.5 hours of arguing about what a TV is and removing an unprofessional employee from the job, talking back and forth with Alex and Team, and waiting for a box to show up for 41 minutes, we finally hit the road! 28 minutes of driving later we arrive at my new home where we unload everything in 40 minutes. The new gentlemen who came to help (Quan, and another Driver Supervisor) along with Cage and Marv were all very sweet and professional! All in all my move ACTUALLY took 135 minutes I made sure to have them just dump everything into 1 room of my home because I didn't want to keep being charged excessively and I'd just finish moving boxes and furniture to appropriate rooms myself... which kinda defeats half the purpose of a moving company. Understandably, they have a 180 minute minimum on Fridays, so I'd expected to pay the contracted $220 for 3 hours for 3 workers plus $50 for a super special non-TV, TV box. That total should be $710 plus tax. Instead we were charged over $1000. I know what you're thinking, they probably wanted tip included? Nope I tipped the guys $160 via Venmo before wrapping up with paperwork because they said if tip is included in the final amount then that would also be taxed and they wouldn't get to keep as much of it. Totally understand, so I tipped the guys quite well because they were very sweet. Although it was stressful, they did do right by me in the end. I appreciated GM Trystan being very helpful and creating an environment of open dialogue where we could understand each other's needs clearly. Thank you! read more

Second Move: October 23, 2016 We hired Hornet Moving a 2nd time to load everything from our storage unit and move to our new house. They were scheduled to meet meat at the storage Unit @ 9:00 . They promptly called about 30 minutes before to let me know they we would be leaving the facility soon and would meet me at 9. They showed up right on time at 9am . We had such a great experience with the last crew that we requested the same guys for this job. Blake happily oblidged and sent Carlo and Garret to this job. As usual they both were super professional, super respectful of our stuff, and took extra care if packing things that I noted to them were very old or very fragile... They knocked out loading the 10 x 20 storage unit in under an hour, drove to my house and had everything unloaded in another hour. All in all 2 hours of work and man they knocked it out. I again recommend anyone needing a mover in Charlotte to use Hornet Moving. I have moved 20+ time in my adult life and never have dealt with a better moving company then Hornet Moving. We scheduled 3 movers to come this past Saturday. They were scheduled to come between 1-4 as we were their 2nd move of the day. I was told they would contact me 30 minutes before coming. The guys called me and let us know they were on their lunch break and would be at the house by 2pm. They arrived right on time. They were extremely polite and took great care with all of our stuff. I would also like to note that while they were moving our guest room bed they found some cash that must have fallen out of my pocket or one of our friends. Neither my wife nor I were in the room at the time and they could have easily just taken the money and I would never have known the difference. These guys however immediately brought it out to us and handed it back . That really told me something about their character and that of the companies. I have never been a fan of letting moving companies move my TV's, computer, things like that. These guys however wrapped everything, strapped it down in the truck, and delivered without a scratch. They moved our 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in about 2 1/2 hours. I mean they knocked it out beyond fast but not at the expensive of poor packing or lack of care for our stuff. They just did it right. I hired Hornet Moving to transfer my belongings from a POD container to a public storage unit. When I booked them, the last thing I expected was an ice storm in NC! My move was January 17, the day after all the freezing rain. Despite the weather, Mike C and Stephan showed up (only slightly delayed) and quickly emptied my POD. They then hauled everything to a storage unit for me. The only slight damper to an otherwise easy move was an accident. An antique chair that used to be my grandmother's was dropped and a leg broke! I tried to be sanguine about the whole thing, especially when Mike C assured me I should contact Hornet Moving and they would take care of it. Since I had signed up for the minimum moving insurance, I didn't expect much, but what I got was AMAZING! In response to my email and photos, I received an email from Daniel Faler, the General Manager of Hornet Moving. He offered me a choice-they would set up an appointment to have my chair fixed, or if I preferred he'd send me a most generous payment to get my chair fixed. Well, since I'm rather new to the area, I asked Mr. Faler to schedule the repair. My chair was fixed yesterday. It looks great! I have the highest compliments for Hornet Moving's crew, Mike C and Stephan were great-hard working, personable, and respectful. I am deeply impressed and grateful for the professionalism and "above and beyond" philosophy of their general manager, Daniel Faler. The job wasn't a total disaster--but it definitely wasn't a 5-star experience. Christian, Aderian, and Nyheim were friendly, polite, and worked quickly. They loaded and unloaded the truck efficiently, which we appreciated, especially on a busy moving day. However, there were several issues that can't be overlooked. Before we even had a chance to fully inspect our furniture, the team asked us to leave a 5-star review. That felt premature, and unfortunately, once they left, we discovered why. There was significant damage to my son's furniture, including pieces that clearly weren't wrapped properly. That was really disappointing to see after trusting our belongings would be handled with care. Additionally, two beds were not put back together, which we were expecting would be part of the service. It would have been helpful if that had been clearly communicated ahead of time so we could plan accordingly. Another frustrating moment--one of the movers left behind two bar stools in our driveway that he had apparently gotten from a previous job and no longer wanted. We were then stuck dealing with disposing of them ourselves, which felt unprofessional. Overall, while Christian, Aderian, and Nyheim were kind and worked fast, the lack of care with certain items, poor communication, and the push for a 5-star review before the job was truly complete left us disappointed. We had Hornet Moving complete a move for us this past Friday, 9/17/21 to move us from a 3BR/2BA house in Rock Hill to a three-story townhome in Charlotte. The team we had of Tyler Dalle, Jasavion, and Fred were outstanding. Our appointment was at 9 am, and I received a call from Tyler at 8:45 to let me know they were running just a few minutes behind and would arrive at 9:20, which is exactly when they parked in front of our house. I expected our move would take somewhere around 5-6 hours, and they had it completed in three. When we had to unexpectedly disassemble our dining table and I made the mistake of already packing and moving my tools, they immediately produced a set of Allen wrenches to use. They were extremely polite and friendly, which is a quality hard to come by at times in this industry. We also had a king sized mattress and bed frame that I asked for them to just drag to the curb for us to arrange for disposal, and they even loaded it up and told us they could take care of the disposal for us. After using another local moving company in the past and experiencing movers that try to milk the clock or actively complain, it was so refreshing to have these guys take care of a task that most of us don't want to do. As long as we're in the Charlotte area we'll never use anyone but Hornet Moving again, and will only recommend this company to our friends and family! read more

We can not believe how well our move went with Hornet Moving! It was NIGHT and DAY in comparison to our awful experience with All My Sons. Anthony C, Jessie and Deishawn all get 100 out of 10 stars for their professionalism, work ethic and how quick they got our move done. They thanked us several times for having cold drinks ready for them but that's the bare minimum for the hard work they did! I used these guys for a small scale move (10 minute drive, moving a 1BR apartment worth of stuff) last June and they were great. I can't remember their names, I think one was named Zay and the other was named Chris, but they were nice and professional college age dudes who were efficient and moved with pace which I appreciated. They showed up exactly when my appointment started which I was a huge fan of. The office that coordinates appointments was great, and called me to confirm my appointment as well as remind me. Very nice and professional like the actual duo that moved me. The price was fantastic, but I will say, don't expect many bells and whistles from them because of that. I helped lift stuff as well to speed it along, which I prefer doing anyways versus sitting there. I didn't mind a "basic" moving service for the price trade off as long as they were quick, didn't damage my stuff, and there were no hidden fees on the back end. At first I was concerned it was too much of a good deal given the price and that a red flag would have to pop up eventually, but everything was great. Would def recommend to any people like me, living by themselves and bouncing apartments without a car big enough to haul big furniture. For bigger or more complicated moves I can't speak to that. read more

After an incredibly negative experience moving a few years back (with a different moving company), I was hesitant this go around. I called around and received several quotes, and found Hornet Moving to be the most affordable option- especially considering they don't tack an extra "travel" charge onto your move if you live within Charlotte. I thought the price was too good to be true, so read a few reviews.. Shortly after I scheduled my move with Hornet. The process, from the initial phone call to the guys pulling out of my drive way, could not have gone any better. They confirmed the appointment the night before, called ahead the morning of, showed up on time, and finished the entire move in 2.5 hours (the estimate was 2-4 hours). The guys were quick, efficient, and most importantly, they were careful with our things. We were throwing around jokes and having good conversation throughout the move, and that's just truly not what I expected; moving was actually fun, and I have Justin, Devin, and Jordon W to thank for it! My husband and I moved on Monday...we decided to use a different company this time...and are SO happy we did! Our move was only from apartment to apartment in the same building, but our furniture is very bulky and heavy. Though we did not have that much to move, we were also going from a second floor to a second floor...so a lot of stairs. BRANDON and RAEKWON were so amazing. They got everything we needed moved so quickly. When they finished, it was not a question of if they could leave (even though they finished way before their two hour minimum) they just started bringing other things and helping any way they could. There was a large chair that my mother came to take in her sedan, and they took the time to secure it in her car, be super friendly and wonderful, and make sure she was good driving it home. They were so friendly, polite, and extremely helpful. I seriously cannot say enough good things about these guys. They did the work of our three last movers in half the time, and were more awesome doing it. My husband and I are both from Charlotte and we will never use anyone else! Also, we had to move our appointment a few times, and the guys at the main office were always helpful and accommodating. read more

Bottom line: use this company, and ask for Tom and Corey. I had to do a last minute move. The quotes I was getting were ridiculous. After waiting on hold and going through an annoying automated system, one of the companies was literally charging me a fee for a "far walk" from the truck to the elevator. Fee upon fee upon fee. I called Hornet Moving and someone picked up immediately. No ridiculous fees like "mileage" fees or "walking" fees. In fact, Hornet Moving doesn't even round up time. They just charge you how long you use them. I was shocked to hear someone be reasonable so I immediately said yes and booked them. Everything was fantastic about the experience. Tom and Corey got there right on time. They immediately got to work and were quick. They're super friendly, and they also are respectful of your time and aren't going to go slow just to run up the charges. My apartment triple booked our freight elevator accidentally, and Tom and Corey used our regular elevator without a single complaint. That's all to say that they were awesome. It was a really pleasant experience and I'm really thankful that Tom and Corey were so helpful during a stressful time. read more

Extraordinary Service & PRICING!!! Over the past 10 years I've relocated to 13 different states - from NYC to Los Angeles - and a whole bunch of other places in between. And never, NEVER have I had such great service in regards to the physical and mental caliber of the four young gentlemen that helped my wife and I unload our two 26-ft moving trucks.One of the guys commented: "Usually homeowners have a few heavy pieces of furniture, but rarely do they have two entire trucks filled with heavy furniture." My point is: If you have high-quality furniture, and a lot of it, then Hornet Moving is the company you need to hire!! Not only were the guys cheerful and maintained great attitudes (which makes such a difference during a stressful move), but physically, they never stopped for nearly 6 hours! I can't comment enough on how fantastic the entire experience was. And, the hourly pricing was much lower than the other leading moving companies in the area with no surprise charges. AND, they don't start the clock the minute the guys arrive - rather when they begin with moving the first box. After having a moving company cancel on me at the last minute, I decided to use Hornet Moving to complete a local move in Charlotte a couple of weeks ago (6/16/18). Not only was Hornet Moving able to squeeze me in at the last minute, but they were also able to accommodate a change I had to make to my scheduled move date/time. George, Cayse, and Myles assisted with my move and they definitely exceeded my expectations!!! They were very professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with. They worked extremely hard the entire time and took great care of my belongings. Even though the job ended up being larger than expected, they worked to get everything moved, without ever complaining and ensured the furniture was arranged in my new home exactly how I wanted it. My mother was at my house visiting on the day of the move and was so impressed with these young men, that she called and requested to have these 3 also complete her upcoming move. I don't usually leave reviews, but I do believe in recognizing great service. They helped us move out of a three-story townhome (yes, with ALL the stairs) and somehow managed to do it with strength, speed, and smiles the entire time. From the moment they arrived, they were the perfect combo of professional and personable. Polite, organized, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. But what really stood out was their awesome sense of humor -- they kept the vibe light, fun, and stress-free, which is NOT something I ever thought I'd say about moving day! They worked like a well-oiled machine -- lifting heavy furniture like it weighed nothing, navigating tight corners like Tetris masters, and somehow still cracking jokes and keeping us laughing along the way. Just adding another perfect score for this company. Anyone moving is a little scared a disaster will happen with their movers. They never show up. They charge per hour for sitting around. They break stuff, are rude and raise the price in the middle and hold stuff hostage. Luckily, these guys break the stereotype. They called half an hour before and were very quick moving my stuff. I actually asked one of them to slow down so he wouldn't hurt himself, although I was relieved he was quick. They gave the utmost care to my stuff and were very courteous. I briefly talked with Chris, a local college student, who was friendly and conversational. I did my homework and the price was great. Would use them again in a second. If I had to give any negative, it might be the confirmation process. I submitted my time and day online and got email confirmation. For my own piece of mind, I called a few days later to actually speak to someone. A phone call to me would have been appreciated, as online reservations for anything can be hit or miss. That very small negative didn't take away the outstanding rating. Would definitely use them again. read more
