We hired 5 guys, only 4 showed up. Job wasn't completed even with the extra day we had to add. Crew was nice, polite, but estimate was so off and due to the long day the crew was rushing at the end, resulting in damaged walls, mismatched feet to furniture, beds being put together incorrectly etc. So much work was left for me and my husband to do once they left, something I've never experienced when hiring movers. Things were incredibly dusty from the truck, our things are so dirty. The cost did not reflect the work done whatsoever, I needed help and ended up with more than I can physically handle on my own. Oh, and they left so much of our furniture still wrapped in Saran Wrap, and disgusting moving blankets everywhere all over our house. Weeks later now, insurance company is missing, won't return our calls. I also have found more damage to furniture. Don't trust this business, no matter how nice they act. I AM SO SORRY FOR THIS LATE & LONG OVER DUE REVIEW I HOPE IT'S NOT TOO LATE! I booked Hornet Moving fairly late in my moving process - barely 48 hrs prior - due to the incredibly convenient, straightforward upfront pricing and direct booking, all on their website (way less of a hassle and much faster than filling out a form and waiting to receive an estimate back, like most others). This was my 8th move in 6.5 yrs and my 7 previous moving experiences were painful for a number of reasons, several of those being due to the moving company/movers booked. I was anticipating this move to match the pain of the previous at minimum, possibly worse, due to other circumstances regarding my moving situation (completely unrelated to my confidence in Hornet Moving or any moving company in general). HOWEVER, to my surprise and relief, this was my best experience with a moving company/movers to date!!!! BIG BIG HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO MY MOVING CREW - JARRETT, ARTHUR, and GUSTAVO!!!! My scheduled moving time was in the afternoon (~1 PM) which Hornet Moving makes it clear that afternoon apts are not guaranteed to start right at 1 PM on the dot and could arrive anytime between 1-4 PM (makes sense and is fair enough considering that the crew is likely coming from another moving job booked for that morning). So I was aware of this and did not expect for them to be on time given that there's only so much within their control there. But they WERE on time!!! By the time they got parked where they needed to, unloaded their supplies, and started the moving for my apt unit belongings on the 4th floor and also my remaining storage unit items on the 1st floor, commuted to my new place (about a ~4-5.5 mile trip depending on route, typically between ~10-20 mins depending on traffic/time) and unloaded everything (while also having to rearrange boxes and misc. furniture I had already brought over that were in the way of unloading everything else), they were 100% finished and had already left the driveway before 4:30 PM!!! They also boxed my 65" TV and my 75" TV (which I had saved the original boxes for). I found Hornet Moving from using Google's "AI Mode" to search for movers that handled TVs, including TV mounting service, and options with upfront pricing and/or direct booking entirely online. Hornet Moving came up as a result checking all those boxes!! I found out once the movers arrived that TV mounting is not a service Hornet Moving directly provides as part of the moving job, however, that ended up working out fine since I wasn't able to have my TV mounted at that time anyway due to some electrician work that was not yet complete. Several large and heavy pieces of my furniture are considered "particle board" / -related material items, which are easily damaged during moves due to durability (my previous move before this resulted in almost all of my stuff getting damaged, chipped, scratched, dented, etc. in one way or another due to the movers not wrapping these items well, or at all, and that was during a move within the same apartment building from one unit to another - so none of these items were loaded into a moving truck and/or commuted, yet they still got damaged due to carelessness ). I worried about those items this time around, but Hornet Moving wrapped my furniture properly with TLC and handled everything with the utmost care!!!! All of my belongings made the move safe, sound, and undamaged‼‼‼ Again, best moving experience I've had!!!!! The crew and company was great and easy to work with from start to finish. The online booking process is wonderfully easy and convenient, and they were incredibly prompt and responsive with their communication. 0 complaints to be found, even if I wanted to look for something to nitpick!!! Aubrey and his team are amazing! I had forgot the Charlotte Marathon was happening outside my building the morning of the move. All the roads were completely closed. I was freaking out and called Hornet trying to reschedule for later in the day. They assured me everything would be ok and that if the truck sat in traffic on the way to my new home they wouldn't charge me for the additional time. When Aubrey arrived he waited in traffic for about 15mins waiting for an opportunity to park the truck. He was calm cool and collected when we discussed the additional routes to my new home. They didn't put in the middle support beam of my bed but still screwed in some of the slats, they left the support beam against a wall and after being informed of their mistake they refused to rectify it. As well as several portions of my bed frame had been damaged / scratched. They also left furniture blankets and wrap at the old house. I paid for three movers $720. When the guys were finished at the old apartment while I was at the new apartment, he told me he only had a few bags left and I told him that would be good. I could get that. but when I got there, they had left three chairs outside of my apartment and a bunch of bags when I went in I could not believe I called the manager Tyler and he said that I should have been there, and I told him I could not be two places at one time and that his lead person told me left only a few bags . I do not recommend this place. It was really horrible. I am on a fixed budget and I had to get my nephew and two cousins who worked all day to finish moving me and also my son and they had to walk these boxes and bags across the walk way it took them almost 2 hours to three hours to get this done and they worked all day again please be careful when using this company. Hornet movers were perfect for my local move from an apartment to a condo! I called and spoke to a coordinator to set up my move with no issues. I received a confirmation email and a reminder email 48 hours before my move. On the day of my move, I received a call from one of the movers, St. Louis, who said they were about 30 minutes away. When the truck and two guys showed up at my apartment, they were very communicative, helpful, and focused on getting everything out and on the truck safely. I asked them to be extra careful with wearing masks and sanitizing because of Covid concerns with my being high risk and they had no problems following my request! I was quoted that the move from my one bedroom apartment would be between the minimum 2 hours to up to 4 hours, but we finished in just under 2 hour minimum. The rate is per hour and I didn't pay for the truck or any extra fees (I opted for the minimum insurance coverage which was free, since I didn't have anything too valuable). Being that it wasn't my first move, I knew to have all of the little things boxed up and moved over already so they had to only move the big things. St. Louis and Aderian were wonderful and I would highly recommend them and Hornet Movers to any of my family or friends! Thanks again! read more

Great deal since you pay by the hour. We had a bit of a complicated move where some furniture was moving between two local houses then everything from one house was going into a POD. They recommended four people so we would have enough for a few really heavy items then two people could split off to go to the other house - $250/hour. There was a bit of sitting around when people weren't sure what to do and there was a couple broken items. Overall the movers were friendly and thoughtful. I personally don't go into any move expecting nothing to be broken. They take cash and have a % extra charge if you pay with credit card. read more

Initially, & honestly throughout the move things went mostly great. They were very responsive when booking and made that a seemless process. I booked 3 movers for 10/1/21 at 10am. This was a 1bedroom 3rd floor to 3rd floor move about 4 miles in distance. I emailed requesting they wrap my furniture per the booking email. The day of they were on time but only showed up with 2 guys. We did a walk through where I explained what to take and what to wrap. I asked that everything except the living room furniture be wrapped. I also explained that everything should be taken except the washer/dryer, microwave & deep fryer(They also had signs on them) & the stuff in the sink. They were about to begin when I asked about the 3rd guy who they said wasn't booked due to a mixup. They made a call and in about 30 minutes or so the 3rd guy was here so I was pleased with how quickly that was resolved. They were friendly & moved extremely fast but I noticed some of the pieces that I requested be wrapped were not. I thought maybe they were wrapping downstairs but they brought the items into my new place still unwrapped. Once they were about halfway done I gave them the key to lock up and meet me at the new place. Unloading they were still moving fast & efficiently putting items in their labeled location. This ended up being a 5 1/2 hour job. I paid and signed some paperwork, which in hindsight, some of it I shouldn't have signed yet. Mainly the parts where I signed that there was no damage. How could I have known that yet when I signed? It did seem suspicious but I signed anyway since they SEEMED to have done a good job. About 30 minutes later I noticed a blanket in a corner in an extra bedroom. Initially I thought it was an extra blanket so I called then texted notifying them of this and received no response. They'd been very responsive up until then. The next day I returned to the old place to do some cleaning and noticed items were left behind. One was the lid to a large tub container that they actually moved to the new location. They put these items right beside the door so I know they saw them when locking up. A few items were moved to the kitchen somehow. It took me some time to move these myself which was disappointing because this is what i paid them to do! They were on their way to a 5 star review until things were checked when they left, so they get 4. I would recommend them with slight caution. read more

We needed to move a house full of furniture to a storage facility. With many antiques, heavy pieces, and delicate items we decided to hire a moving company to handle the move. We were immediately impressed when the movers arrived. The two gentlemen sent to handle the moving job arrived on-time and ready get started. You could tell that they knew what they were doing. The guys, Jessy and Khalif, were also very nice and professional. Jessy strategized a plan to maximize the space within the moving truck. They wrapped the delicate antique pieces in blankets and plastic and took extreme care to assure that nothing was damaged. It was obvious they cared! Even though the company charges by the hour they were quick and wasted no time in loading the contents of the house. Unloading: Once we arrived at the storage facility they once again used their moving experience to make the most of our storage unit space. Nothing was broken or damaged during our move. Dan was the consummate professional, keeping a bird's-eye view on things and ensuring all the alphabet had their proper marks (i.e., t's, i's, etc.)----he let us know what was going-on, what the next steps were, what we could expect, etc.-----they exceeded our expectations. I believe Donovan was the social-guy, chatting-us up and expressing an enthusiasm for ensuring we knew we were in good hands. He worked with lots of energy and seemed like their motivator. Terry was laid back----but don't take his stature for granted: he's strong, dependable and thorough. I don't even know where to begin. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Read on to know the specifics. TLDR - they pay you pennies for damaged and MISSING items. Be prepared to be out thousands of dollars in damages and losses if you proceed with Hornet Moving. I've moved many times, including within NC and across state lines into and out of NC. My experience with Hornet Moving was absolutely the worst moving experience I've ever had (and I previously had oil dumped on a white couch by another moving company). Hornet Moving was promising at first. The scheduling was a breeze and the movers arrived promptly and communicated beforehand. That's where any good stuff stops. The move was not that complicated. It was moving from one apartment in Charlotte to another apartment in Charlotte. I'm a single person with two pets. The movers damaged quite a few things, some of which was significant. - Four glass shelves in one overall five-shelf bookcase were chipped, with the final glass shelf being fully destroyed. Additionally, there is a chip on the metal frame of the bookcase. (Worth $599) - There are black scuff marks on my white metal desk that I haven't been able to get out. (Worth $499, limited edition) - There is a chunk of wood missing from my living room cabinet. (Worth $400) - There are many scratches and chunks of metal missing from my console table, which was in brand new condition before the move. (Worth $249, limited edition) I expect fragile items to be handled with care. I emailed Customer Care and received a response from Daniel, the General Manager. He pointed out that their policy pays the customer based on the WEIGHT of the item, not the actual VALUE of the item. Shame on me for agreeing to that and signing that - please read carefully and understand what you are signing (I know moving is intense and overwhelming, here's where they take advantage of that). They will try to tell you that these "rules" are "standard" across the industry and "governed by NC" but that's a load of garbage. As I stated, I've moved in NC many times, and any damages were always paid out based on a percentage of the original value of the item, not the weight. So based on Hornet's policy, something can be worth $800, but if it only weighs 1 lb, they will give you 60 cents. This is utterly criminal. So instead of offering me a percentage of the value of the items they carelessly damaged, I received $300 (they rounded up from $234.60, gee thanks). I wish my troubles had stopped there, but they just got WORSE. As I unpacked, I realized I was missing three large moving bags. After contacting the staff at my first apartment, I found out that they had been LEFT at the loading dock by the movers. Of course, the bags were not there anymore when I went back for them. So they lost three large moving bags containing at least $1,000 worth of clothing and other closet items (I pretty much have to start over on a work wardrobe). When I emailed Daniel at Customer Care, he offered me $100 for the items. I pushed back, stating that the amount didn't seem appropriate given the value of the items. And we are not talking about damages here, we are talking about total loss! I trusted the movers to get everything onto the truck that they brought down and put on the ground before leaving. Daniel responded to my push back with a firm offer for $100. Well, forget it. I don't want your $100. It's insulting that Hornet believes $100 will make everything right again when their negligence has cost me substantially more than that. Because of Hornet Moving and their team's pure negligence, I am out thousands of dollars between damages and losses. I have never in my life been so angry with a moving company. I hope you think REAL HARD about using Hornet Moving in the future, because this will happen to you too. And to Hornet Moving, I have shared this review far and wide on social media and with my friends and family and none of us will ever go near your business ever again. read more

We used Hornet for a Charlotte to Raleigh move. They were competitively priced with all of the big moving companies but were able to adapt to MY schedule - a lot of the big companies required me to live without my stuff for 1-2 weeks while they shuffled things around in their storage facilities, but Hornet took my stuff directly from my home in CLT to my home in RAL. Our crew (Alex D, Markale, Mo, Descan, David M, Devin T) was friendly and professional. They were capable of all of the things we asked them to do - carrying furniture and tons of boxes up and down stairs into our new 3-story home was no problem. It was a HOT day, and they did a good job of managing the weather without complaint. However, I think they could've used better tools - those under-furniture lower back straps to carry heavy stuff to assist with moving speed/care. They did scratch my hardwoods in my new home in a few places, which is a bummer. Two small things broke in the move, which is disappointing but not unexpected. Nothing went missing, which is a basic expectation of movers, but I still appreciated that they were trustworthy and reliable. I was also disappointed that, though I was very clear in my emails that I expected a fully masked crew when indoors (and the person confirming my request said that wasn't a problem), I had to keep reminding them to put on their masks and in some cases had to provide masks for the movers. I know the work they do is hard, and it's tough to wear a mask, but it was frustrating to have to keep reminding them to wear masks properly when my family was putting up with masking all day without problems. I think they could improve their communication by streamlining things, but I noticed that all of the moving companies I contacted had similar problems with simple/straightforward communication and easy-to-understand documentation, so I think this is a pretty small problem in the grand scheme of things. I'd definitely use them again, which means you probably should, too. read more

Biggest problem is that they left a lot of our furniture damaged, didn't properly protect it in the truck or moving it into our house. In addition they left some significant damage on our new house. A positive note was that they were at least somewhat initially flexible to some additional things we needed done. Overall though, I hired them based on the reviews we saw here and elsewhere online, but were very disappointed. A lot of people seemed to have good experienced, but with so much damage I wouldn't use this company again or recommend. them to anyone else. read more
