The workers failed to install a sufficient amount of concrete footing along a 30' section of our pool decking. This area collapsed before the rains. They also failed to properly compact an area over a trench for underground electrical, so the pavers have sunk. I communicated with Joshua directly.... he blamed me and the weather. We made arrangements for the deck collapse to be repaired. After making numerous commitments, and failing to show up, he called to and requested that I pay him $60 for cement. Joshua knows me well enough, (or should have) that had he stood by his work, shown up and made the repair, I would have paid, (more) for the work and cement. We have gone above-and-beyond for this young man, though never again. Read carefully! In Joshua's own reply, he admits that his work won't hold up for more than two years? Amazing! Had the house painted... 10 year guarantee. The crew has come back, (6-months later) twice to touch-up areas.... No blame. No issue. No charge. Had the house re-roofed. The roofing crew left a mess.... Called the owner, he sent his crew back, they cleaned up, apologized and left. Getting a sub to return to fix a mistake is always a process. When a problem surfaces, this is when you find out if you located a true professional. A quality sub doesn't blame the customer. A quality sub doesn't make excuses. A quality sub stands behind their work. A quality sub doesn't need $60 bucks to fix a mess he, or his crew made. Joshua failed on all on all four. I recently hired Rock Solid Concrete to pour an 8x12 concrete slab in my backyard for a shed, and…read moreworking with Charlie was one of the best contractor experiences I've had as a homeowner. Before finding Rock Solid, I actually hired another concrete contractor because their quote was a little cheaper and they had decent reviews. Unfortunately, that decision ended up costing me time and frustration. The contractor never came out to look at the site beforehand and relied only on a photo I sent. When the slab was poured, it ended up several inches out of square and badly sloped, which made it completely unusable for placing a shed on top of it. Thankfully I was able to get my money back and have it removed, but the whole experience reinforced something many homeowners learn the hard way: the cheapest quote is rarely the best value. That's when I reached out to Charlie at Rock Solid Concrete, and the difference was obvious right away. Charlie came out in person to survey the site, explain the grading and prep work needed, and walk me through exactly how they would make sure the slab was square, level, and reinforced with rebar since it would support a structure. On the day of the project, Charlie was involved from start to finish. He checked measurements, supervised the crew, and sent photos and updates throughout the process so I could see each stage -- from forming and rebar placement to the final finish. The professionalism stood out. The crew respected the property, kept the area clean, and worked efficiently. Once everything cured, I checked the slab with a level and it is perfectly square and perfectly level, exactly what you want when placing a shed or structure on top. Charlie clearly takes pride in his work and treats every job as if it were on his own property. I reached out to WSJ Painting last weekend and requested they stop by for a quote to have the…read morecracks in our stucco repaired and then the entire exterior of the house repainted. William responded to me via Yelp and advised he would be able to stop by the same day I requested the quote which was amazing. I pointed out some of the larger cracks and he gave me a quote instantaneously. He also explained the entire process from start to finish. The whole quote process took a matter of just a few minutes and not at all inconvenient. I will be honest and got a few more quotes from other businesses in the area. Most were substantially expensive than what William quoted me and a handful were quite less. I opted to use William and his crew at WSJ Painting for several reasons: They have been in business for over 20+ years. They are family-owned and operated. He responded immediately. He knows what he's talking about. He's professional and left me a business card. Needless to say, I reached back out to William the same afternoon I got the quote from him and told him to put my wife and I on his schedule. He scheduled us just a couple of days later. It was not an emergency by any means, but it was nice to get the job over and done with. We've been saving our pennies to have this done. Our house was built in '96 and it had never been repainted. Parts of the exterior were splotchy and faded horribly by the harsh Arizona elements. They came out on the first day and power-washed the entire exterior from top to bottom. The amount of filth that came off the exterior was amazing. This process means the new paint is adhering to the house - and not a bunch of dirt. The next day, the crew was back out bright and early to prep the exterior. They carefully put plastic over all of the windows and doors. They even applied plastic to half the driveway, sidewalks and back patio pavers to be sure no overspray was present anywhere when the job was complete! They also began repair of all the minor surface cracks in the stucco (we had a lot of them!) No joke. These guys were at it from sun up to sun down. The following day, they were back on our property bright and early again to resume repair of the cracks in the stucco and also, to finish painting. They painstakingly painted our trim white (per our HOA guidelines) and then blasted the exterior with a fresh, new coat of paint! It was a toss-up between Arizona Brown, Desert Sand or HOA Beige... so we opted for the latter. Needless to say, the house and exterior look great! No more splotchy coats of half-assed paint. No more cracks in the exterior. It looks like brand new construction! The crew removed all of the plastic everywhere and disposed of all materials on their own. Extremely efficient. Very professional. Amazingly quick. A job well done, indeed! I would not at all hesitate to recommend WSJ PAINTING to my fellow friends, family, co-workers and random Internet strangers on Yelp!
