Our most recent need for service was to replace a hot water heater that I noticed was leaking on Christmas Eve. A call to Dave Franchini in the early morning of Boxing Day and he was able to come to the house in about an hour to examine the problem. His offer to replace the heater that very day was like receiving an enormous Boxing Day gift. Five hours later we had a new power vented gas hot water heater fully operational at a very reasonable price. There should be no doubt that I wholeheartedly recommend Franchini Plumbing. We received the receipt and installation details at closing, including this company's information. Since moving in, we've experienced ongoing issues with the hot water supply. I am currently 8 months pregnant and unable to take a full hot shower, and my children often end up needing to take cold baths afterward. When I reached out to the company for help, they refused to come out to assess the situation unless I agreed in advance to a $300 service fee. The company is upfront blaming that the hot water heater is simply "undersized for our household needs" instead of checking on it. I've previously owned a home with a similarly sized water tank and never ran out of hot water at all, but regardless, I believe a company should stand by its work--especially when the installation is recent and the unit is still under warranty. At minimum, a basic service check should be offered without demanding a substantial fee upfront or placing the responsibility on the homeowner. The individual I spoke with on two separate occasions was dismissive and unprofessional, and did not take accountability for the situation. The interactions left me feeling uncomfortable and even intimidated to write a review, but I feel it's important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision and find a company that stands behind its work and treats customers with respect.

Drains I kind of understand, but I tried to snake one once and it was a disaster. For plumbing needs, I call a plumber. The first plumber I tried came from one of the local Best of the Capital Region polls. And they were fine. But I didn't really like that the fellow who came out to look at the job and the fellow who came out to do the work were different people. Yes, I realize this is how a lot of home service companies work, and probably most consumers are fine with it. I'm fine with it too. I just like Chris better. Every time I've had to call on Chris, he could have taken me to the cleaners. Each problem had a potentially very expensive fix. But every single time, either through hard work, sheer determination, or just a keen eye, he's been able to get me out of the jam for much much less. When we left the area for a few months and had a family renting our house, I knew that I could call Chris and he would take good care of them. And he did. Most recently, we thought our water heater had died. We were prepared to buy one from him. But he told us there was nothing wrong with the heater. The problem was the circuit breaker box. But he knew a good electrician that he trusted. When a person of integrity give you a recommendation, it's wise to listen. And his electrician was fantastic. Prices are reasonable. Service is great. He's a friendly guy. Deeply knowledgeable. Dependable. Trustworthy. Really, I can't say enough good things.
