I had a dental emergency over the weekend. I was able to get in to see Dr Ruda out of office hours and he was so kind and gentle. I needed to get a tooth extracted due to a very bad infection. I have been going to them since I was kid and I can't believe the way they are treating me and my family right now. First of all, my fiancée and I took our 2 year old son to get a check up and cleaning. Not only did they do absolutely nothing for him because he wouldn't sit still, but they still had the audacity to charge my insurance so now I can't take him to a pediatric dentist til next year! Then my fiancée decided to switch to my dentist, ( who is no longer in my network for insurance) and had absolutely nothing but problems. They removed a crown from her mouth, and not only did they break the crown, but they refused to fix it for free! They told her they will fix it at a discounted price for her. They had absolutely no business touching the crown to begin with! What an absolute shame what this place has become. Now my entire family and I have to find a new dentist. I actually like going to the dentist because of the staff at Navesink Dental. They are all so kind and extremely accommodating. I love that you can tell they all don't mind being at work because they have a fantastic camaraderie. The prices for fillings, etc are fair and they will work with you to ensure they aren't crippling your finances. I would highly suggest them. read more

For most of my life I have had a great fear of the dentist and before I met Dr. Ruda, I had avoided seeing the dentist for 5 years. Before seeing him I had visited a dentist in Hazlet who told me I needed a deep cleaning and wanted to charge me several thousand dollars for it. I also had a very difficult time having x-rays done due to a gag reflex and the hygienist was very impatient and rude. I decided to go to Dr. Ruda the following month and was met with very kind and patient hygienists who helped me feel comfortable. There are tvs in front of every seat, which helped distract me while work was being done. The best part though was Dr. Ruda actually spent time with me and we even discussed my fear of the dentist. He also told me I didn't need a deep cleaning and he could take care of me with 2-3 normal cleanings, which worked like a charm. I am just sad that I had to move away and I am now a couple of hours from his office. I still haven't found a dentist as good as him and I miss all of the great hygienists in his office. The outstanding care, honesty, and kindness I received today has restored my faith in dentist. I had two prior dentist that were more concerned about getting their insurance money then they were about my dental health. My prior dentist scared me into believing I need much more work and even tried to sell me a very expensive toothbrush, which in fact neither was really necessary. I've been a patient for about five years after responding to a free-consultation offer after my former practice left the area. If Ruda and his staff moves, I'm going with 'em! Excellent facility; cordial friendly staff; and prompt appointment times (no small matter). A problem over the holidays that I considered an emergency was treated within a couple hours of calling and (don't expect this, folks, unless you bring them Valentine's Day roses) I was not charged. I just left there as a visit due to a groupon I bought for a Zoom treatment. Just after I told the receptionist that I didn't want a full set of X-rays as I just had them she told me that I would be getting a take home kit. she then had Allan himself explain to me why. He stated people weren't happy with it so he does a mold and take home kit. Even though my wife and I had appointments for the zoom treatment he said he didn't even have it in stock. So I was referred to this office by a friend of the family, the office was super friendly, great staff and the doctor himself was top of the line. Here is where my problem came in. The 1st visit is a free visit, x-rays and such. After that visit, I knew I needed scaling and a deep cleaning. So I went in the back office with the office manager Kitty and we reviewed my options. She ran my insurance info on the spot, and said that my insurance would cover 80% of the treatment, and I would be responsible for 20% which came out to be $240. Fantastic, she put it in writing, I made my 1st of 3 appointments, and we were all set. Last treatment was on May 14th, and the 2nd week of July I receive a bill from Dr. Ruda's office for $510!!! What is this??!?! I call the office and the woman I spoke to, said I was waiting to hear from you, your insurance is a tier plan, and they wouldn't cover it, but instead they covered only 20% of the procedure. Well I told her that I have the original invoice that YOUR office manager wrote on stating what MY OUT OF POCKET cost would be, she replied, I have that also, but it is an insurance thing, out of my control. So my next move is this, I called my insurance company to question them. It gets better, they told me the reason that they did not cover the 80% was because the dentist I chose is not in my network. So then my question was, well when the office ran my insurance, would they be able to tell on the spot if they were in or out of network, she replied absoutley they would know. So I called the office back and got the same woman I have been dealing with, her name I will not mention, but she has been very good to deal with. I said now not only did you go against what you wrote for me, but now you aren't in my network, and never told me. So you ran my insurance in front of me, probably saw that you were out of network, and never told me. How do you do that to a patient??? Kitty saw this and probably did not care. My case is this, I am responsible for the balance owed, it's not the money, it's principal here. Don't put in writing one thing, then send a bill out 2 months later, that is AWFUL business. I suggested to the woman meet me in the middle, I owe $510 to your office, and since this is your fault, you pay for half the balance and i'll take care of the other half. She said that was not an option. That is fine I said, then I am going to go on Yelp, which is what you are reading now, and I am putting a formal compaint in with the BBB and I am going to bash your office for the awful practices that office has. If you want to get the shaft, go see Ruda. I hope that they read this and realize just how shady of an operation they run there. WILL NEVER go back to him and NEVER refer him to anyone., I'd rather have my teeth fall out then give that crook a dime out of my pocket read more

These guys are the greatest. They do a great job of preventive care on your teeth. They even warn me to where a sleep guard for my teeth. I use to fear going to a dentist fearing they would find a reason to drill, not these guys. read more

I have always been so afraid of going to the dentist, but needed alot of work done. I heard Dr. Ruda's ad about sedation dentistry and decided to call. Mary, from his office initially spoke with me, and put me right at ease. I set up my 1st appt. and felt comfortable right from the start. Kit advised me on how to finance the extensive work I needed. My 1st appt. was 5 hrs long-but I felt so at ease, that I opted for no sedation. Dr. Ruda and his friendly staff made this long visit extremely bearable. I have been back several times and have finally completed all the work I needed on my upper teeth and the change is remarkable! I love smiling now! In the fall, Iplan to go back and have work done on my lower teeth. Trust me, you will love Dr. Ruda and his wonderful staff (didn't think I would ever say that about a dentist!). I used to enjoy going to Dr. Ruda's office. I had a fear at first so I switched to this dentist because they can put you to sleep to do dental work. I had a great hygienist named Darlene who was there for a bit, but she ended up leaving and each time I went in I had a new hygienist. The lady at the front counter is always super nice. They have an extremely aggressive lady named "Katty" I believe who at the moment I mentioned veneers, was trying to convince me to allow her to get the credit approval. She even called the house a couple of times to try and follow up. NOW, this is where it all goes south. I grind my teeth at night, so it was recommended that I get a night guard. I had Dr. Ruda make me one and it ended up being one that looks like a retainer. It's solid and was very uncomfortable since day 1. I went in multiple times complaining about pain from it and that my jaw was still killing me every day. They made their little tweaks (Done by some dodo who acts like the chubby girl from Bridesmaids and an African American lady who has zero personality and seems like she hates her job). These tweaks did NOTHING and I still had my pain. When I was finally fed up and asked for it to be replaced with a rubber one (Commonly used night guards) I was told it wouldn't make a difference and I should try physical therapy. Clearly, they just didn't want to pay out of pocket to have a new night guard made. They told me they would call me the next day to let me know how much PT would cost, but they never did. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Dr. Ruda's office, and I honestly think you could find better for yourselves!!! read more
