THE WILD WILD WEST!…read more Since we were in the area, we decided to check out the Historic Downtown District of Acworth. Upon arrival, I realize that we are just in time for the classic cruise event which takes place approximately five times per year. The proceeds, (from participant registration), are used to support a local charity. These events are perfect for the classic car and truck enthusiast because there was an exceptional turnout of presenters and such a variety of vehicles. Historic Downtown Acworth was the perfect venue for hosting the cruise due to the cool nostalgic vibe from the train that runs along Main Street and the varied shops and restaurants housed in original restored buildings. It was really like taking a step back in time. The weather was great and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The downtown events are a great opportunity to bring residents together and welcome new visitors to the city. The city will be hosting A Taste of Acworth on Oct 17th from 10am until 6pm, so mark your calendars as this is sure to be a very popular event!

The school's last graduating class was in 1966. While the original structures have been demolished the city erected a plaque near the school's original location. The Marker reads as the Following: The Lemon Street Grammar School opened in 1894. The original wooden structure was funded by Marietta's school board, and designed to educate Negro students. The high school was built nearby in 1930 at urging of Ursula Jenkins. Professor M. J. Woods became principal of both schools in 1929 and led the high school until 1962. Lemon Street and Marietta High Schools merged in 1967 and the Lemon Street building was demolished. The entrance fee depends on the event that is going on. The parking lot is large so you can just park outside the venue and walk into the building. Through the years, I have attended, Gem Shows, International Festivals, Christmas Markets and Gun Shows. The venue is just right size for me, and not too large, so you do not have to wear yourself out by walking miles in a huge Exchibition Hall like the Omni in Atlanta. There are two levels inside. Sometimes the exhibitors are presenting their products in both stories. Other times, like the last Expo I attended had vendors only on the bottom floor. This is an older building but still well maintained and clean. There are restrooms upstairs and downstairs, you just have to look for them. Of course, how much you will enjoy the event you are attending depends on your interests and the organisors. I would highly recommend this place. There has always been Cobb County police present for security.

The selection is spread out over three floors, they offer both open and private seating, the travel section is very robust, and there are plenty of computers to log onto.
