The building was clean and a lift for a wheelchair was available for the lower event area. The Center is surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. Parking was not bad if you can walk across the street. Also handicap parking was right by the entrance. Actually the building had more than one entrance. From the time I made the first call to Lee, who handles the events at the center, I appreciated how friendly and helpful he was. He explained the rates of each room, how pricing works, what is and is not allowed in the event space, and let me know when I could come in for a tour. We stopped by a little after 7 one night to see the room and the guy working the front desk was more than happy to show us the room we were interested in reserving and answered all our questions. The next day, I spoke with Lee and reserved the space. It was a super easy process and I appreciated that he always responded very quickly if I had any questions. There were plenty of room options to host an event and the cost was very budget friendly. On the day of our event, things were flawless. We had no problem getting access to the room when we arrived on the day of our event and the room was already setup just as I discussed with Lee. The rooms are nice and spacious and the center has recently undergone a renovation so the rooms and bathrooms are updated and look much different than they do on their website. There is plenty of parking nearby and it's pretty easy to find the building. A really good experience and if I ever need a space for an event, I'll be sure to check out the community center first!

They provide opportunities for elderly to engage with the volunteers delivering the meals, and this is often the only interaction some recipients receive. This interaction is beneficial to both the elderly and volunteers. Meals on Wheels offer volunteers of all ages the opportunity to give back. Training is thorough and interactive which is helpful since sessions are usually at 8:30 am on Saturdays prior to deliveries. Brandon is over the volunteers and always makes everyone feel truly appreciated. He explains the volunteer opportunities including packaging meals to delivery drivers and driver assistants. There are also onsite opportunities during the week to assist with front desk needs. Volunteers also aided in the signature fundraiser ' A Meal to Remember' to raise funds and awareness to continue serving Atlanta area residents. After volunteering with several groups, I decided to volunteer with MOWA to honor my dad's birthday earlier this year. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This led me to organize a service day with my alumni group as the VP of Outreach. Everyone enjoyed helping, from kitchen duty to deliveries. Lastly, served as a volunteer and auction team volunteer at the fundraiser last month. Meals on Wheels Atlanta is truly a resource that deserves our support and look forward to future opportunities to volunteer with them. Initially tried to do deliveries but discovered that it was not an option on Mondays and agreed to assist with meal preparation. My daughter and I were scheduled from 9 am to noon, but ended up staying until 1 pm. We braved the rainy weather and felt so good after helping prepare 720 meals. We package meals consisting of chicken casserole, squash and baby carrots in assembly line fashion with helpful staff including K.C. and weekly volunteer Billy. Brandon, the volunteer coordinator, personally welcomed us and took pictures. Everyone made us feel welcome and look forward to volunteering with Meals on Wheels in the near future.

Had the pleasure of going to this pool with the kids I was babysitting this summer…read more The pool is huge and meticulously clean...and so are the bathrooms which is hard to do (I know I was a lifeguard) The food bar has some really great snacks that aren't too pricey, and always free iced water and tea. Really nice diving boards, Lanes so you can lap swim Huge shallow area perfect for kids Lots of comfortable lounge chairs and shaded areas The lifeguards are on point as well. They are always walking around the pool and don't seem to ever slack off. If I had children who couldn't swim I would feel secure knowing the lifeguards were around.

I've noticed over the past few years that it does seem to be getting more family oriented, and there are new businesses popping up like Family Dollar. There's an area right down by the railroad tracks where there are some businesses, and they could really do a lot with that with bars and restaurants and mixed use. I have been to a few gatherings there, and it's a really cool vibe, community garden, Dillon's restaurant, great patio for parties, and office space. Last, but not least, Dough in the Box donuts are in downtown Austell - amazing. Definitely worth a trip all on its own. The chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting is my favorite. They have awesome fritters also. They usually open quite early and everyone who works there is super friendly.
