    The Rude, Unprofessional Receptionist.
    Shonta' H.

I would not recommend this place for healthcare services. I had an appointment today to get a physical. The lady in the photo works at reception. A Desk Clerk if you will but she tries to make her position seem more important than it is. Interacting with her was not pleasant. The unprofessionalism is unreal! I entered the building, spoke kindly, relayed that I have an appointment, and presented my insurance cards and identification. I'm using my indoor voice because the area where the reception desk is located echos when you're speaking. The receptionist literally yells at people, meaning me because it didn't scream at anyone else but me, which sometimes that could be a hearing (more like an attitude) problem, but I don't know because I'm not a certified doctor. When she yelled at me, I asked her very calmly to lower her voice when speaking to me. She got louder as if she were trying to intimidate me. I asked the receptionist again not to yell at me. It catches attitude with me only to say, "Your mask muffles your words." I spoke up just a little and it proceeded to outright scream at me which prompted staff to come from the back of the office up front to the reception desk. All of this screaming to the top of its lungs was very unnecessary especially when I was triggered so severely by its outbursts that I could have easily become physical with that thing, however, knowing that people like that play victim to their own circumstances that they create for themselves, I opted not to engage any further and began speaking with Dr. Lynch who had come up front to assess the situation. All of this mess was about the fact that Allcare didn't inform me as a patient that I'd have to have all of my insurances verified to be seen. Verification needs to be done by me which is practically me doing their job for them and having said this aloud while mumbling to myself, the receptionist jumped out of its seat, with the intention to intimidate me. I wasn't flinching. Every time I tried to speak with the doctor who was addressing me (Dr. Lynch) the receptionist would cut across me very loudly to try to make her point that had nothing to do with what I was saying. I told the doctor that I'd pay out of pocket for my appointment if there was that much of a problem with them verifying my insurance. The receptionist screamed to interrupt again and I put my hand up in a "Stop" motion and told the receptionist that, "No one was talking to them," which upset the receptionist even more. I had to do this "stop" motion several times and reiterate to them that I was not talking to them. The receptionist was adamant about being rude to me and they disrespected the doctor in their face while screaming at me, "I'm not going to keep letting you put your hand in my face!!!" My hand was never in the receptionist face especially with them being four feet on the other side of the desk. I was waiting for the receptionist to touch me and I was going to have them arrested for assault. I may confer with a lawyer to see if I have a civil suit for the mental anguish, stress, and anxiety the receptionist caused me today, Sat., June 15, 2024. This is not a place that can possibly care for my health when I'm being stressed out before being seen. Not to mention that the young lady that works there who is currently pregnant told me that the staff there has warned the receptionist about how loud they are, they're consistently loud, and to tone it down. The receptionist even loudly said, "I can't help it if the lady doesn't like the way I talk!" Their coworker stated to them that it is their delivery and it comes off rude and with attitude. The receptionist didn't care. I feel like if you're going to try to bully people because they asked you to speak a little softly, then reception is not the job for you. There were a bunch of phone calls made to try to address the issue, however, there was no resolution. Allcare wanted me to reschedule my appointment for another day. I'm not doing that. I'm just going to take my services elsewhere. Not to mention that the receptionist was on their personal phone texting during work hours. I wasted my time, gasoline, and definitely my patience having gone there. Monday morning, I will be calling my insurance company to switch providers. I don't even want therapeutic services there any longer. I would not recommend this facility. 1 Star. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I can enthusiastically recommend One Medical, which is owned by Amazon. And, no, I don't hate…read moreAmazon, so if that bothers you, take note. I admit, I was very skeptical, but the practice is so efficient and friendly, I'm recommending them to the Yelp DC community! And I"m very fussy about health care (I'm from Boston, what can I say--it's the best city in the US for health care!) The one item I was hesitant about--it's a common problem in the DC metro area--is you won't get an MD, you'll be seen by a Physician's Assistant. But--I lost my primary care MD 5 years ago, so started calling practices, GW MFA, etc., a year ago to find a new MD. Forget about it. I started calling again recently, hoping there were doctors available. Nope. There is NOTHING out there--I had estimates of waiting times of several MONTHS for an appointment with an MD. No one offered an appointment with an NP or a PA. A few places wouldn't even put me on for a wait list appointment! It's dire. I had no choice but to sign up at One Medical, which btw was recommended by two friends with high standards for doctors. There is another potential issue, that it's only general practice, no specialists. But they do a lot of the requisite tests, blood tests, etc. I already have my specialists, so it's not a problem for me. And my PA is excellent. She is pretty young, but very well trained, very smart, and responsive. And you can tell she likes her job! More good things about Farragut Square OneMed. I"ve been several times since joining a few months ago, and I've NEVER had a wait. The front desk folks, the techs, the medical professionals? All excellent, very personable, and polite. What a change from some other DC medical practices! They take insurance--and if you're not insured, they will figure it out. Also, they are so tech forward, everything is very easy to accomplish, and not stressful. No waiting on hold! Again, what a change. Anyway, if you need a primary care MD, and can't find anyone, give one of these practices a try. If you don't like them, you can leave.

I think One Medical has been a victim of their own success -- there are too many patients and you…read morecan never get an appointment now. The whole point of paying for it is supposedly so you can get prompt responses and next day treatment. At first, I could always get appointments same day or the very least the next day. Now to book a physical with my doctor, I needed to book 5 weeks out. To get an appointment for an illness, the next available on the app is over a week from now. A more traditional doctor, I could call and ask to be seen same day. But no one answers messages on the app anymore. I'm trying to switch practices but no one will answer me through the app how to cancel my membership. If you are looking for premium care and service, this is definitely not it anymore. PS: do yourself a favor and sort the comments by "newest first" -- you can pinpoint exactly when things went downhill. All the positive reviews are over a year old.
