1 & 1/2...This was surely the overall and most disappointing and infuriating meal of our entire Italian excursion. Led here by a positive if rather perfunctory mention in an over decade-old NYTimes article after catching the local bus ride up the lake to Bellagio, it initially looked pretty promising in advance, owing to it's location removed from the touristy town center, which allowed us to take a lovely (paid) stroll through a gorgeous private historic lakeside villa while taking in a gorgeous sunset. Unfortunately once we landed at dinner things took a turn for the worse. The non functional half star is for the fact that I at least got some Instagram story material out of the overall lousy meal due to the fact that some of the food at least looked better than it tasted. The most eye popping food pic material was surely a caviar topped spaghetti with lemon and butter, which unfortunately wound up being shockingly bland to the point of being almost tasteless. Also quite pretty were some brilliant colored and extremely fresh zucchini flowers stuffed ricotta and served on top of a bright tomato sauce in the traditional fashion, but here steamed rather that fried as is typical. Unfortunately the consistency worked against it and blandness was somehow the dominant flavor profile again. More often than not though, the dishes were total duds both in taste and appearance, like a gummy, grayish beef tartare, shriveled looking and extremely dry "black rooster" raviolis, and a dry and tasteless fish over likewise bland sauce. Service, starting with the rude hostess, who I believe has been called out on other reviews, to the slow and aloof waitstaff and sommelier was heavy on obnoxious pomposity. I know Americans are used to super sized wine pouring's compared to Europe but the glasses that I was served here were so light that I initially thought the full pour was merely the taste I was being given for initial approval. It probably should have been an indication of what type of establishment we were dealing with when they required an obnoxiously expensive deposit in advance of our meal which would have been charged if we decided to cancel as we made the reservation less than 24 hours in advance. It's worth emphasizing that this was the most expensive meal we had it Italy hence my initial declaration.

Worst experience of our 10 day stay in Italy and honestly worst experience we've ever had in Europe. There was no parking near the restaurant so we had to park a half kilometer away. It was down-pouring during our walk to the restaurant and the streets were backing up with sewage. After walking through sewage and torrential rain (only way to access the restaurant) we arrived soaked (despite having rain coats and umbrellas) and smelling of feces from the shin down. Our 7 month old baby was soaked and crying from the wet/cold since it was only 50 degrees F. I told the staff I was going to need to cancel the reservation due to our circumstances to which they responded "it's not possible to cancel". We informed them we were not comfortable staying with human waste in our shoes and a shivering baby from their restaurant being inaccessible. After I left to retrieve the car my wife attempted to stand under their outdoor awning, but the wait staff came and kicked her out saying she had to stand in the rain next to the building in order to wait for me. She attempted to deny them but they had nearly the entire staff come out to kick her out despite having a crying/shivering baby. Added pictures of the sewage stuck to my shoes/pants to show how gross it was and what they expected us to bring into their restaurant. Obviously they cannot control the weather but this was the only way into their establishment, and despite the restaurant being 1/2 full, they still charged us 240usd for the "deposit" and could not have been more rude about the situation. I emailed management to attempt to rectify the situation but they ignored my email and instead processed the charge as a response. While I'm sure the food is good, it's Italy, all food is good, don't waste your time coming to this money grabbing restaurant with rude staff.

AVOID. Worst restaurant experience ever! After visiting some of the top restaurants in the world I can say this was the absolute worst. The owner here is incredibly rude after not fulfilling the total number of people in our reservation. I had a short, calm conversation saying no worries we will take the table for the number of people she had noted us for. Instead, for some reason as we were sitting down, she told us to get out, that she wouldn't service us and even threatened to call the police. The servers, patrons, and even the chef who witnessed the whole thing were shocked as she completely lost it and started yelling as loud as she could. It was so bad the chef had to calm her down. Clearly this wasn't the first time she was obnoxious. Don't go unless you want to meet the craziest lady in the restaurant business. I'm actually glad this happened to us because I do not want to support a business this terrible to its customers.

This was excellent. We got the beef tartare with burrata and truffles, tagliolini, and pesto risotto for two, and we really enjoyed it all.

Racist and short tempered women. For a "classy" restaurant. Embarrassing. She claims to be the owner. Wow!

We are visiting Como for a wedding and had made reservations for a group of 11, but the restaurant seems to have us down for 8 only. As we are trying to ask for extra seating because we did get phone confirmation for 11, Asking for extra table or extra chairs . The hostesses (pictured below) shouted "sit down or get out!" from the front desk and then walked over to rest of the group at the table and said get out! As we are exiting, she said she called the cops. Also she asked another Asian person who is entering the bathroom not in our group to leave as well. Our group is a mostly asian with one non Asian person. Honestly i think the hostess is racist, as that is the only logical explanation in this case considering our own behavior and her reaction.

This place is absolutely phenomenal. One of the best meals I've had in awhile! Reservations needed if you want to eat outside. Not sure how far ahead of time you'd need to book but there was a gentleman booking six weeks out... The beef tartare with burrata and truffle is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The shrimp appetizer with greens was cooked beautifully but the greens were very salty. There is a tasting menu which is a great deal - no substitutions allowed. But not everyone at the table needs to get the tasting menu either. Service was stellar. Overall excellent meal

This is without a doubt, the Finest restaurant we have enjoyed from start to finish!! An A+++ Creative, attentive and delightful

We were recommended to try this place from a local. If weather permits, sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and lake. I had the cheese platter, which is meant for dessert, as an appetizer. Great assortment of local cheeses from sort to hard accompanied by house made jams. The ravioli was a must have as well. Fresh pasta stuffed with delicately seasoned veal with a cream and truffle sauce. Could have ordered 4 servings of this and called it a day. We tried the lake fish appetizer but truthfully it's an acquired taste. Lake Como fish has a distinct flavour- one that is too strong for my liking. The roasted lamb main was beautifully done paired well with a chianti. For dessert, I opted for a cannoli which was made of fresh ricotta served with glazed strawberries and a scoop of chocolate gelato. Service was amazing and prompt. Very helpful staff particularly around picking appropriate wines for each course.

What a great restaurant. Lovely outdoor space, extraordinary friendly and attentive servers and great food. The apps and mains were all great. The spaghetti with onions, sour cream and caviar was the dish of the day. Everything was cooked perfectly. Nice wine list too. And a beautiful walk through the Villa Melzi gardens to get there. Highly recommended.

We saw La Lanterna on our first night thought we have to give it a try while we were here. The next night we walked by and the was a table outside in the stairs. OK, it does not talk much to excite us but this was awesome. Enjoying our meal while watching people walk by and walk by. A lot of people walk by and look et you. So if you are self conscious ask to sit inside. They have a basic menu of pasta and at first we thought, "this will not be enough food." It was plenty and so flavorful. In our four weeks of travel in Italy and Greece, this was my most memorable and tasty meal. No hesitation. Just a cute little restaurant with a great eating experience.

Just barely beating the rush, we were given a lovely table inside and could enjoy the artsy decor--loved the flat wine bottle art, just wish it wasn't so expensive. 60 euros with the current exchange rate is a bit much especially that I was wary of being able to get it home safely! My mom went with the minestrone and she raved about it the rest of the trip! I dipped some of my bread in it and agree that it was quite good and that's not normally a soup I care for. The rest of us somehow all got lasagna and most of us enjoyed it, though one of the group found it too "creamy." I would agree that I do like a bit more mozzarella on my lasagna, but that could also be an American thing and not "authentic." Really the only negative here was having to go all the way downstairs to pay my bill. The restaurant isn't very big yet it was not the easiest journey and the wait down there was a bit long. Otherwise a great experience!

We ended up getting seated right at the edge of the vine-covered terrace overlooking the beautiful Salita Serbelloni which just gave such a romantic vibe overall. All of the food we had was phenomenal. We started with the roasted octopus and potato gnocchi, both of which were very tasty with great flavors. The octopus was cooked perfectly, and I also loved the ragu sauce that went with the gnocchi. Then, my fiance and I had their fish of the day which they cook up in front of you, and it was served with seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes. This was absolutely delicious -- the fish was tender and so fresh!

I think partly it was that our general online research offered a lunch menu that was a la carte, but they only had a prefix menu when we were dining there. In the end, I personally feel like this is more 3.5 stars, and what made it just shy of 4 stars was that the prefix menu felt like a cash grab. The dishes themselves were hit or miss (eg the cacio e pepe dish was subpar and the flavor wasn't great) but we had a beef tartare that was pretty good!
