Food was mediocre at best... We decided our entrees were a disappointment so we'd get dessert elsewhere. Then we left and realized most places were closed or closing, but our dinner restaurant was open for another 35 mins. So we walked back and asked for a table to order a dessert. The same waiter we had maybe 10 mins prior, who had JUST offered us dessert, told us no - that he couldn't give us a table just to order dessert "because they're cooked fresh". Maybe there was a misunderstanding, because this came off as extremely rude and off-putting. We would not go back here. read more

I really don't understand the reviews for this place or I just had very bad luck. We were 40 minutes in line before they opened for dinner at 7pm, we were the second couple getting inside the restaurant. Once they allowed people to get in we waited another 25 minutes to get drinks and bread and placed our order. The service was slow but once we placed our order we got the food fast. We loved the music they were playing, American classics but when in Italy we were hoping for the full Italian experience. We had the fish pasta and the Chicken Cacciatore. The Chicken was good, it was nice to eat something other than pasta and pizza. The pasta was the worse pasta I have had in Italy, and we have been here for a month! It was cold, had an unpleasant taste, and it gave both my husband and I a tummy ache. Giving 2 stars for ambiance and location. Do not recommend this place at all. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant! Best meal we had on Lake Como and within top meals on our trip to Italy. Staff was a delight and restaurant played great music! Homemade pasta (fettuccine pomodoro and Tagliatelle Ragu) and homemade desserts (Chocolate Cake, apple cake and tiramisu) were highlights. Get there about 15 minutes before it opens for dinner as place is small and they don't take reservations (only open for dinner from 7-9:30pm). read more

After we got off the ferry in Bellagio, we walked up the main steps where everyone was taking photos, and we saw a line outside Trattoria San Giacomo. It was around 12:30pm, so the first set of tables had just sat down, but we saw online that around 1pm was peak time, so we got in line. The wait was about 20-30 minutes, but good thing we got in line early because they actually cut off the line around 1:15pm since they close for lunch at 2:30pm. We saw so many disappointed people get turned away. The menu is pretty simple, but they have a surprisingly good wine list for a small place. This is because the owner also owns the wine shop across the way. They had an interesting selection (explains the Wine Spectator awards), including some more local wines, and we had a few glasses off the Coravin list, which is their more premium selection. For food: - Carpaccio: not fully raw at the edge, very mild and almost sweet tasting, prepared traditionally with parmigiano and arugula - Braseola: similar preparation to the above but obviously more salty/cured - Tagliolini fatti in casa al Missoltino: the noodles had a great bite to them, and it was an interesting red sauce made with cured / salted local fish. This was a super satisfying pasta - Ossobucco: with polenta and gravy. This was a giant piece of meat, and it had a bunch of marrow in the bone. This was a hot deal at €16 The servers were helpful and very friendly. One was also very knowledgeable about their wines. I love that even though there is a line, and they have to turn people away, you're not rushed through your meal. Again, it's a small restaurant at the top of the steps. Try to get one of the small outdoor tables if possible. No reservations. read more

This place was amazing! We had been searching for some quality food in Bellagio and so happy we found this place! Not only was the food the best we had in all of Italy, but it was extremely affordable! We sat on the steps waiting for it to open at 6:15pm on a Saturday and we were second in line. Anyone that showed up after 8:15pm was turned away so make sure you get there early! The steps right outfront were cute and a wine shop right next door will sell glasses or bottles to have and drink while you are in line. We had the pork ribs and polenta (absolute favorite), ravioli, spaghetti with dried fish, cold lake fish (soo good), linguini with meat rage, and the minestrone soup. Seriously all was amazing and would recommend anyone going to Bellagio to stop here for lunch or dinner! read more

We thought we wanted to eat here when we saw the cushions for people to sit on when the restaurant was full. We knew we had chosen the right place when we heard good music playing as opposed to the bubble gum Italian pop music we have been subjected to all over Italy for the past week. We just stopped in for a quick bite before the ferry and we are so very glad we did. Vincenzo was a wonderful waiter and we could not have been happier with our fettuccine ala ragu and the ravioli with spinach and brown butter and sage. Both were expertly prepared and a welcome change to the mediocrity that we have experienced in the past several days. We were really close to walking to a restaurant 20 minutes away to get the Risotto con Pesce Persico that's a traditional meal in Bellagio, but decided we didn't have the energy and found this place right around the corner instead. Turns out they serve this fish dish as well! We were told the wait would be about an hour, so we grabbed some pillows and a seat on the steps outside the restaurant. I think we only ended up waiting 30-40ish minutes, so it wasn't too bad. My husband and I both ordered the risotta and fish dish and though it looks pretty simple, it tasted amazing! It's more of a buttery rice, than typical risotto but I was not disappointed in the taste. The fish was so lightly battered, perfectly fried and seasoned. We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious as well. It was a great last dinner in Bellagio! read more

Came here for dinner after hearing a lot of good reviews from various sources. Was lucky enough to get seated immediately. Saw other people arrive later with longer waits. Was seated inside but really toasty and would suggest waiting for outdoor seating if it's been a warm day. Ordered the pasta pommodoro which was a bit ordinary in terms of ingredients but good with regards to freshness of pasta and flavorful. Others enjoyed specials which they liked. A family run popular traditional trattoria in Bellagio. This has to be one of the most sought out restaurants in Bellagio, no bookings are taken but a queue of customers end up sat outside on cushions waiting for tables!! Great value home cooked Italian food with amazing homemade pastas, locally caught fish and the most delicious desserts imaginable. We've eaten here four times on two short visits to Bellagio, and would of eaten here again bar too long a wait for a free table on one occasion. It's a small restaurant with a few outside tables which have blankets ready to use on cold nights(as well as the cushions which get used for waiting customers too!). Definitely worth the wait but ideally best to arrive pre opening time and getting to the front of the queue. Open every day but Tuesday. read more

A very popular place in Bellagio,if you do not have a reservation you had better be that at 7pm sharp for a chance of getting a table.This restaurant has been in the family for 40 years and all of the desert recipes come from the owners mother who was actually dining there with other family members.As soon as my wife told our server about her allergies he called over the owner he asked my wife about her allergies and then made recommendations of what she could eat.He kept coming by thru the night to check on us and make small talk,his English was excellent.Food was was very very good,I had veal ragout very tasty , my wife had fresh lake fish right out of Como Lake again excellent.I was checking out my bowl of tirimisu and the owner came by again and said What's wrong,I said nothing I'm just checking it out.Then to our surprise he brought me a piece of chocolate torte no charge and said try this and tell me what you think.It was fantastic and of course we got into talk about how it was made. I was very disappointed with the Veal Osso Bucco at this restaurant. This was the only subpar meal I had during the entire 11 day trip my wife and some friends took in Italy. When the dish arrived at the table the veal looked dried out and was served over a lifeless slab of polenta. The sauce had good color and hints of great taste, but overall the meal looked like it had been prepared a day or two before and just reheated. My wife and friends had somewhat better meals and looking around at other tables I saw some amazing looking dishes so I was extremely disappointed with my meal. read more

This is a great little trattoria on one of the busier walkways from the lower level to the upper level of the town. All the reviews ward of busy times, but as it was raining this day, there were no concerns for a wait. One of the specialties was a boiled rice and perch, which was fine, but the stew of the day was wild boar with polenta and this was outstanding. The richness of the flavors came across from the first smells and was extended through the sauce and the meat and I wiped my plate clean with some bits of bread.
