Today I had a 6 week follow up at their office located in the Surgery Center (next to House of Chen). I was checked in promptly. The waiting room was very large and spacious. I did have a rather lengthy wait today though, my appointment time was 3 PM and I did not see the doctor until four and I didn't get out of there until almost 430. However, I feel that the staff at this practice is much more professional and thorough than the other two eye care providers that I've seen between 2020-23 in Cranberry Township. This is where they do surgeries and have ophthalmology appointments. It gets confusing because the same doctors are also often at their Good Looks Eyewear location for regular optometric appointments.

Four of the calls went into voicemail and 3 I talked with different woman who were working at the time. They all assured me that they were going to take my message to the Dr. and she would return my call. This NEVER happened. My sunglasses that I paid a very high amount for, broke. I called again to tell them that the glasses were only 6 months old and the arm broke off. Nobody got back with me. I am livid about the service. These glasses should have been under a warranty. I am now in Colorado and went to another eye dr., and they expressed how this office should have replaced these glasses. I called again and left another message with no response. I also called to have my prescription faxed to my new eye doctor and no one returned my call. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! I paid out of pocket over $1,000.00 for my glasses. I tried contacting through the website and all remarks are blocked. Hmmmm???? I wonder why??? Doesn't take much to figure that one out. The glasses were not suitable for me as they caused me to trip and stumble due to the poor design. Should I now get an attorney? I feel I deserve my money back. However, I was charged $75. When I asked for an explanation, she told me in detail that an extra $25 charge would be removed because she had accidentally run two separate transactions on my card. Later that day, after I had already left the office, she called to tell me she had made a mistake. She explained that I actually owed an additional $25 because she had forgotten to charge me for the second frame, and that the extra $25 I had originally questioned was for a different fee. I explained that if I had been given the correct information while I was still in the office, I likely would not have purchased the second frame. Since the confusion was caused by their mistake--and I had specifically asked for a detailed explanation of the charges--I felt it would have been appropriate for the office to waive the additional fee. Instead, I was told, "You can bring the frames back if you don't want to pay the fee." I found the situation to be unprofessional. If you don't want to receive unexpected phone calls after leaving the office about additional charges that were not clearly explained beforehand, I would recommend avoiding this office.

At 9:45, I asked how much longer it would be. It was too long, and I had to be back at work by a certain time, so I told them I was leaving and did so. That would be enough for me to avoid a place and recommend that others do the same, as keeping the appointments you make is one of the basic hallmarks of a serious business. It didn't end there. The next weekend I went to a different optometrist. That optometrist was unable to help me, as these fools at Gateway Eye Associates had put a "prior authorization" on my insurance. I tried to call Gateway Eye Associates, but all on receives when calling them is an automated message directing one to their website. I ended up having to wait until Monday morning to call my insurance company and have them remove the hold. So, not only were they unable to help me, but they also prevented anyone else from helping me as well. Seriously: Don't go here.

The workers are friendly and the waiting room is roomy and clean as well as the exam rooms. Having spent many hours in clinics I realize patience is key. So I called Dr. Waxman's office to let them know I followed up with the new doctor. Dr. Waxman's office told me to go back to the new doctor and their is nothing else they could do for me. So here I am, still unable to see, unable to drive at night and unable to get any answers or remedies!
