The owner and his dog greeted us right away and took us back into the vineyards where he spoke to us about the different varietals he was growing, showed us his owl boxes, and more. We continued on to the tasting room, and enjoyed a variety of reds, all of which I enjoyed. Each bottle of wine includes a personal touch- there is a small photo of the owners elderly dog on the back. I loved the sentiment! We'll definitely be back when we are in the area again. We were the only ones stopping in at around maybe 330/4pm. It was "Irish day" so most were down in Murphy's. We were greeted by one of the owners and his dog! *there is a sign on the tasting room that you can always find them working in the vineyard if nobody is in the tasting room* Before we started our last taste of the day, we were asked if we wanted to go see the vineyard, if you don't like wine, no issue, you'll have a beautiful place to relax all the same. We were educated on the process of harvesting,etc. took photos,enjoyed the breezy warm afternoon. Now the fun part...the wine was amazing, and there were also little bits of chocolate and crackers to have while you sip. The cherry on top was being taken back where the barrels are stored and having Port straight from the barrel!! Not sure if they do that all the time, or if it was to celebrate the engagement of my cousin! I couldn't walk away without getting a bottle of the port. I would definitely come back to try more. Nice, crisp and fruity. The whites (Calaveras Chardonnay, Calaveras Viognier) on the tasting menu were good. The Pinot was good, a bit light. The best ones were the Old Vine Zin (blend) and the Ghirardelli Heritage Vine Zin. Our favs! Service was a bit slow which was a surprise since there were only 2 other couples. The experience was a bit different from what we're used to, no real explanation of the wines itself. Just serve and pour. Not really a winery we were real impressed with but cute.

Each participating winery is paired with a restaurant or catering company. The wines and foods compliment each other so nicely. Let the festivities begin! It is so fun to try new wines and wineries that I haven't visited before on my tasting excursions. So many delicious foods and wines to experience in one place! Some of the best wines in the state were served and I even found some which I had not tasted before which I now have in my wine celler. The food pairings were superb from the local restaurants. I really hate to say this but I tasted food from restaurants which I didn't even know existed there, but, I do now. And in the words of A. S. "I'll be back." Now if you really want to read a great review on this, NON-Yelp sponsored event, then I suggest you read Karen G's. Her gift of gab is far better than mine and she really hits the nail on the head. An…read moreolder man poured me tastes of two whites and two reds, and he was not stingy in quantity or in conversation. It was delightful to hear about his history on this property, his son-in-law-the-winemaker's experience and interest and awards mineral collecting, and the creation of these wines. I was very comfortable sitting and chatting with the man and his wife (I think that's who she was..?) for a while, like new friends. It was fun to talk with the winemaker too. I left in such a good mood after tasting good wines and hanging out with these really kind, genuine people. Apparently plans (or dreams) are in the works to develop a more sophisticated tasting room. In the meantime, it's adorable and friendly. The minerals should keep any non-wino interested. And the company can't be beat.
