There is a pool and playground in the front by the cabins, private from the street. Bathhouse and laundry available although we didn't use either. Very small but good selection of groceries. Ice cream for the sweet tooth. We camped in a 40' MH with 4 slides. Towing a 14' enclosed trailer. Retired couple. There for a week. Visited Castle in the Clouds (about 90 mins) & The Mount Washington Cog Railway (about 20 mins) while there. Gave it 4 stars for the 30 amp only. Would return if in the area.

Our lot wasn't covered with mature trees, but we didn't notice anyway since we were busy hiking and exploring the Whites each day, especially being close to Mount Washington, The Cog, and gas/groceries. It was nice coming home to the warm and clean pool, and the firewood delivered to our site was perfect, neither too quickly burning pine nor wet or sparking, and hence I wish we had gotten our firewood on-site the first nights. It was even accompanied with a bucket of tinder to get it started easy. TMMC was a lovely place to watch mountain sunsets and the nighttime explosion of stars. In all, our stay was clean, affordable, quiet, and comfy.

The food was a 6. Beverages were short. The flourless chocolate cake was flat. Bread pudding was average. Waitress was a touch pushy. But I think she was just trying to make sure we were happy. I do think their drinks are overpriced. Example: one shot of scotch was $15.00. There was a beautiful red propane stove in our suite that was inoperative. Unfortunately, there was a very noticeable septic smell throughout the Inn. I will consider other Inns when we return.

Last time we were in town we ate at the Rathskeller Pub in the ground floor of the Inn and the kids had been talking about it ever since, so we decided to stay at the Inn this weekend per our children's request. We booked two nights in the adjoining rooms on the second floor. One room has a double bed and the other has two twin beds. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, with soft Garnet Hill bedspreads and gorgeous cherry and oak furniture. The bathroom was tiny with older tile, but very clean, and sufficient for our needs. There are no TVs in the bedrooms, which is good because noise travels well through the hallways into the rooms. There are TVs on in the pub during dinner, and there's a theater room in the basement. There are lots of reminders at the Inn about keeping kids quiet in the hallways, but I didn't hear any kids making noise--instead I heard some sauced up older folks returning to their rooms in the middle of the night! Which I found amusing. The Inn is an older structure, constructed with traditional New England materials, and is very well cared for. Staying at the Inn is like traveling back in time in some ways, and somehow encourages conversation between guests. There's a front porch, a large screened in porch, a library, and a few fireplaces. It's very clean, the staff is friendly, and there's lots to do during the summer right in the immediate area. Included with the stay is use of the four clay tennis courts (borrow rackets and tennis balls from the desk), a pool and hot tub, ping pong, a watering hole, and even bikes and helmets to borrow for a few hours at a time. Also on site (but not included in the nightly rate) are two restaurants, retro arcade games, a horse stable, and a glider airport. The first floor dining room is quaint and a bit formal (requiring reservations), while the Pub is casual and louder (more forgiving of people with kids), and has patio seating. The pool is older but heated, with plenty of seating on the deck. If you choose to experience the old fashioned hospitality of the Franconia Inn I highly recommend taking a soak in the hot tub at twilight while surrounded by nature before retiring to your room and listening to the bullfrogs while you fall asleep

For us, it was too hard, we prefer softer, but I'm not going to take away stars because of that, as that may be something others may like. The check-in and out was easy. Upon checking in, we found there was no way to lock our door (inn keeper said, "it's Vermont, we don't lock our doors.") The smoke/fire detector in our room was beeping every 15-20 seconds. The top bed linens and pillows were dingy and dirty. A bath robe that hung from the door looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long, long time. My wife and I spent no more than 5-10 minutes in the room following our "discoveries." We did not feel safe or secure at this inn, and so, we immediately booked accommodations at a nearby hotel for a 3 night stay. The hotel reservations were considerably more expensive, but, my wife and I felt neither safe nor secure at McIndoe Falls Inn. And, on the backside of a multi-year pandemic, we had concerns with the lack of cleanliness. The inn is in dire need of a refresh. Finally, and inexplicably, they also charged our card for the remaining balance of the entire, 3 night stay. I sent them an email at 4:44pm, just a few minutes after we left to inform them we would not return. I don't have a problem with the initial deposit for the first night. I greatly resent being charged full rate for a 3 night stay, while we were only there for 10 minutes. Based upon innkeepers previous comment, we were their only guests, so it's not like others were beating down the doors to get in. I will be disputing the balance charges with my credit card company. In case I haven't been clear enough, I do not recommend McIndoe Falls Inn, at all. The pictures and descriptions on their website is a gross misrepresentation.

The owners, John and Diane, are super friendly and approachable about any issue or question and give good advice for things to do nearby and places to eat. We stayed in cabin 4, which is one of the smaller ones with one double bed. But don't be fooled! The cabin has a small bathroom with a shower stall (and clean towels), a kitchen with a stove burner and tea kettle, fridge, chopping block, and other cooking ware. The ability to make tea was my favorite thing! Also, there is a pull-down table that reveals plates, bowls and cups. There was even a fan and a ceramic heater, in case of cold or hot weather. What else? The bed was decent enough and had clean linens on it. It's not fancy inside, but the cabins were built in the 1930s and have an adorable rustic-y look. There is also a picnic table in front of each cabin, which is an extra plus and the owners have a grill upon request. Some of the cabins even have screened-in porches. Their property also takes up a decent bit of land that abuts a waterfall and has an area to create a fire perfect for smores next to the falls. This area is creepy at night, but it's definitely a fun walk from one's cabin! There is also a small playground on the property with swings, tether ball, a volley ball net, and some berry bushes. It's a great location for someone who wants to take the family to Arethusa Falls, Attitash, Mt. Washington, North Conway, Bretton Woods, etc. etc. For the price, I definitely recommend staying at these cabins because you can't go wrong with the location, friendly owners and having a decent amount of amenities in your cabin.
