We started off on chords, and easy to learn songs, eventually we moved onto more complicated pieces. I have also seen Matt in concert, his band rocks! He's a tremendous guitar player, teacher, and I seem to learn new things from him every week. I strongly recommend Tonal Music Art School for any aspiring musician!

They're passionately dedicated to teaching music and at times go far with teaching techniques beyond the book. You can be an absolute beginner wondering where to start, and here's where their music material really shines! They've got it all covered - be it pop, rock, jazz... from beginner to becoming a pro! All you have to do is practice. Beyond teaching, they inspire you to explore your own style in songwriting and playing instruments. They also host seasonal recitals. My piano teacher Hye Seon has years of experience orchestrating off-broadway Jazz musicals in New York. She's very involved with her teaching - helps you appreciate music theory, has taught great playing techniques to flow effortlessly on the piano. I thoroughly enjoy taking music lessons with her. Delighted to have found this school and so would you be!

I arranged rental time at Michiko in late December 2024, for a studio upright piano that turned out…read morewas not in good condition. I believe this was a Kawai. Despite claims the staff made about technicians routinely servicing their pianos, this instrument was not in tune and had not been reguated so the action had what piano technicians call "lost motion," which means there is space between the end of keys and the moving parts of the action. This creates a sloppy feeling in the keys, and thus a sub-standard playing experience. Lost motion is easily corrected and this lasts for a long time so either the cause is poor technician skill or the Michiko does not pay enough to maintain this instrument. Sound from other nearby rehearsal studios was a distraction.

The collective had arranged for one of the larger rooms so they could have some audience members, the full company and be able to stream it online as it happened. Spatially speaking they had a reasonable stage that held everyone involved. A full four piece band, some singers and some traditional Japanese instrument players and a grand piano. To the other side of the room was the soundboard and a setup of chairs. They had about 20 or so chairs to sit in and the audience would be a mix of invited friends, the media and the other members of the collective. Overall a nice group. The sound in this room was wonderful and you heard everything nice and clear and it was quite enjoyable. The space itself was clean and had a number of bathrooms and a WiFi signal to login to. I asked the friendly staffer what else the venue had and they said there were numerous smaller rooms like phone booths almost that people use to practice singing only or their voiceover and podcast work. Good idea. While I don't know if I will ever be there again I enjoyed my time here and thing the talented people who are reading this Yelp should look into the place in case it serves their needs.

I can't imagine a better experience than buying a piano from Isaac at Prosper Pianos. I reached out…read moreon a whim after seeing a post about the business. Though we've wanted a piano for years, we had looked only casually before being struck by Isaac's philosophy: taking pianos and touching them up or even restoring them to sell to people across a wide range of budgets and skill levels. When I reached out, Isaac responded promptly, and we had a long conversation assessing what we were looking for in a piano. When we went to his shop, he explained the origin of the pianos he had and what made each different. He graciously let us try everything from a Baldwin spinet to a beautiful late-1800s Steinway (which he knew was NOT in our price range!). We ultimately settled on a warm Charles Walter upright, made by a smaller American company we hadn't been familiar with but that - - besides making great pianos - - has business values we appreciate as a bonus. The piano movers Isaac works with are excellent: they arrived promptly and carefully navigated the piano up several steps through a narrow entrance, in and out within fifteen minutes. Now we're beyond excited to have this beautiful piano sitting in our living room and highly recommend Isaac and Prosper Pianos.
