Southern States is that kind of old fashion feed store that you can be happy to go into. I come…read morehere often to get hay for my miniature horses. The staff at Southern States are very nice and always willing to help you. By far my favorite part about shopping here is they load your car for you. Almost every other feed store in the area has you loading your own car, which I do not have a problem doing but it is very nice to have help every once in a while. I buy grass hay and I can say the bales are always cut very well, the flakes come apart easily, and the hay seems fresh. When feeding any type of animal you should be cautious of the food your giving, this is even more important when feeding horses because they are so sensitive. I trust the hay at Southern States to supply my girls with what they need and to keep them happy. I highly recommend Southern States to anyone who needs live stock supplies, gardening or farming supplies, or even domestic pet foods and supplies. Oh and by the way if you have an order to big for you to pick up they do deliver!

If I could give the outdoor employees zero stars I would. My husband, children and I bought an…read moreoutdoor table and four chairs. I pulled my car up to the garden center doors to make loading easier but quickly found out nothing would fit in my trunk. The two Garden employees watched as we struggled and locked the sliding doors.the two employees stood at the register talking and when I knocked on the automatic doors the man held his finger up as to say "hold on." I stood around for several minutes and had to knock again. He unlocked the doors and told me the Garden center was closed. I said that was fine but I needed them to hold my items until I could pick them up tomorrow. The man proceeds to tell me they don't hold items and I'd have to carry everything to customer service, return them and buy them again tomorrow. I told them that was ridiculous and if the items needed to go to customer service then we would like some help taking them there. The man and the woman refused. Told me they weren't allowed to help us. Needless to say I expressed my opinion on their customer service and being paid employees they are required to help us. I asked if they could get us a cart to load up to take to customer service and they said no. My husband & I were shocked. Meanwhile my two children are watching & hearing this nonsense. The male employee starts referring to us as kids (he was prob in his 60s, us near 40). My husband picks up the table, carries it over his head up to customer service while the two Garden center employees follow behind. We ask to speak to a manager and she comes promptly. We ask if they hold items until we can pick it up tomorrow and she says "yes, we just need your name." We tell the manager about what happened and how we were treated by the employees and she doesn't show any concern. She says sorry about that and nothing more. The man keeps bantering with us in front on his manager, fellow employees and shoppers. I told the manager that this is exactly why Walmart has a bad rep. She then tells me that she has worked for Walmart for 15 years and knows what people say about Walmart isn't true. Oh my gosh! We left there livid! No one cared, no one showed an ounce of customer service and YES, this IS exactly the crap that keeps people away from Walmart. I went back the next day, picked up my furniture and it looks great on my patio. What an ordeal!!!
