Tim's work ethics, professionalism, and craftsmanship are of the highest caliber. He has built many decks and h has decks with unique designs and artistry. Many customers have hired him for additional projects. Tim corrected the problems that you could see. But to correct the framing out of the Trex deck would require the entire deck to be rebuilt. This company Subcontracted workers to build my Trex deck who had never built or were professionally trained on composite decking. The subcontract workers normally were hired to do siding on new construction. I am not sure if I would ever hire this company again for decking or new construction. I will hire Tim Herring in a heartbeat. My previous rating for this company remains the same.

He spent a long time with us and remeasured everything. We added a few items and removed two. One was hanging three fans and two lights, which we were to supply. They wanted $1000 in labor so we decided to do it ourselves. The other item was removing the popcorn ceiling. We decided it did not look bad with it and all the other condos had it still. Unfortunately, even though he said that would be fine, taking it out of the bid did us in. He got back to us and told us the job was not big enough for them to do. As well it was too far to drive the 45 minutes to us. So now we are contracting the flooring of the entire condo to a flooring store, the painting to a painter, the bathroom remodel we will get someone else hopefully and we still need someone to replace the windows. It is a shame that it did not work out. It is harder for us because we live 3 hours away currently and meeting with all of these people take a lot of trips. We are finding many contractors do not want a job that is not huge, 50k and up range. And there is plenty of work for them right now. We have had a slew of folk never call us back. That may come back to haunt them when times get a little tougher. Oh well

I requested custom rolling shelves to be installed in my master bathroom and a spot on the wall to be painted over where it chipped. I was informed that it would be doable to be completed by 23 November 2024. It was understood that I paid half the estimate upfront to deposit and then pay the remainder when the work is complete. So I paid half upfront to deposit; amount was $1,860.00. On the planned completion date, I received a text message that there is a family emergency and they requested if the completion date can be pushed back to 24 November 2024. I said to that the new date is fine. And then the family emergency is extended, and extended, and extended thru Friday, 6 December 2024 and then thru Saturday, 7 December 2024. We agreed that the work will be completed firmly by no later than Sunday, 8 December 2024. By this point I have been more than reasonable and accommodating to the life situation that they are going Through. On 10 December 2024, and I verified that there has been no work done at all on the shelves or the painting job. I called, texted, and emailed the team with no response. I had discovered the nature of the emergency; so of course it's a traumatic experience. Also, at the same time, I am working in a tight budget. I cannot just throw away $1,860.00. By the end of December, the shelves and paint job were take care of by another person. On 15 January 2025, they informed me that they are taking care of the refund; first tried Zelle, then Venmo and did not work, so we agreed on a cashier's check sent to me. The cashier's check was mailed to me on 28 January 2025. And since January 28th 2025, no further updates; complete silence. I send one final message expressing my frustration and anger with the refund process on 17 February 2025; and then two days later on 19 February 2025, they finally reach back out to me ONLY after I initiated the follow up message. They tell me the refund check was mailed back to the office; this information I did not know, so at this point, I am dissatisfied more that they did not reach out back to me to close out the refund process. On 19 February 2025, they confirm with tracking number from UPS that the refund check is mailed to me to my correct mailing address. I received the package from UPS. However, upon opening the check is not in the mailer; there is only a neon green envelope with '1900.00 Refund' written on the outside. I noticed the green envelope was ripped in one corner and the mailer was also ripped in one corner. At this point, I still haven't received the refund. So, we agreed to send the check via USPS instead. We confirmed with tracking number that the check was mailed via USPS on 5 March 2025. On 14 March 2025, I received the mailer. Inside the mailer package, the check was not there. Instead, there was a Customs and Declaration Form and their business card. No refund check. At this point, we have utilized two forms of mailing technique without success. So, understandably, I asked them to provide the refund electronically either via Zelle or Venmo. I have no word of whether or when my deposit will be refunded, since that is the honest and professional thing to do. At the end of the day, it is poor customer service. He is a meticulous craftsman with an eye for detail and beauty. As any build there were challenges that he saw ahead of time and planned for and corrected them. His framer, Arturo, was also fantastic. The two of them would discuss every aspect of our house to avoid any problems. Chris was on site every single day, rain or shine. He looked out for it like it was his own laying down tarps, moving material around to avoid bad weather. Chris worked closely with me and my wife to give us the house of our dreams. We moved from Washington, DC to NC and the water having never lived on the water before. There were many things we had to learn about water, salt and wind. Chris was there always making the great recommendations in order to protect our investment. We had a custom home built with a lot of high end appliances and features. My one issue was Chris's regular tile installer was too busy and the complexity of the job would've made it so he couldn't take other work so we got a different installer. They put an inexpensive tile on the top of expensive tile on the steam shower bench seat, the top of the knee wall in the main bathroom and the guest bath, and the niches in the shower. We have been in the house 1 year and there have been no issues. The punch list was done soon after we moved in. Some caulk dried in the kitchen which was touched up by the painter immediately after a call. We have had many people come and look at our home and they all make the comment, "Your builder did a fantastic job building your home. Everything is beautiful, plumb and well built." I would highly recommend Olde Anchor Building Co for a custom home build. If we build another, Chris will be our builder!!

After 3 weeks and me having to contact him I was given a couple excuses as to why he hadn't contacted me and then was told about the estimate on the house, "having been partially completed in many areas and other complexities with this project (ie. drainage issue) in master, I don't think an estimate would be the best option for me due to unforeseen issues that will undoubtedly arise. With that said, I am happy to consider an hourly contract... When I do hourly work I charge $90/man hour. " I gave this company three stars because they took the time to show up but I did not use them because they couldn't do an estimate, as well as the lack of communication.
