I paid Allen Outdoor Solutions about 10 thousand up front and they came out and installed a drainage system and then I asked them to dig the drainage swale that the we had contracted for. So they said they had to charge me more due to a tree stump and extra man hours and I said Ok, which I thought was not right because we had already agreed to all of this up front when I paid but I said ok and the Swale looks terrible. The curb appeal is downright awful and the Swale has washed out places to the side, some places are higher, down hill than up hill and I think anyone would say it is just terrible looking. When the guys dug the Swale, they just quickly drug up some dirt and left. And the back yard was not done fully. I thought at first it was all done right because I know nothing about drainage and swales but after a few weeks and talking to people and seeing it, I realized it was all done wrong and it looks terrible. In addition, when they dug up the window wells and put in the drainage pipe they asked me if I had any rock, which I did, have, and I was surprised they did not bring any rock for that if they were asking for it. I am paying them for this work and I am providing the rock free while being charged for it. When I went on YouTube and saw hundreds of Swales done, they all looked great, so I know this one is just terrible. No doubt and anyone can come and see it for themselves. I am totally certain when you compare and contrast their swale to thousands of others found online everyone will say theirs looks awful. And so I have contacted other companies to come and do it right and make it look good and they asked about the French drain and they all asked if there was rock under and above it and I said no. And come to find out, across the board, rock has to be put in with the French drain otherwise it will clog up. So now I have to have it dug up and rock put in. I am simply not going to use them again and not recommend them to anyone. And if no one believes me I am from the show me state and will show you that this is all true. I have tried to add photos but could not so like I said, I am willing to show anyone who like what I am talking about. read more

We were unhappy with the company we had used for many years. I asked in our neighborhood Facebook group for recommendations and Allen Outdoor Solutions came highly recommended. I want to say we've been using them for about five years. We have had better service from them than the two companies we had used previously (one went out of business). We feel like the price is reasonable for the work we have done. They start up our system in April, do a mid season check up on the summer and shut it down in October. We're given a four hour window for our appointments. They call when they're about 10-15 minutes away. The guys have all been pleasant. If anything needs replacing (it's rare, but it happens), they explain what needs to be done and why. The person I speak to in the office is great! I literally have no complaints about, or issues with, this company. I have not used them for anything other than our irrigation system. read more

Cannot say enough great things about Allen and their people. Several years into our irrigation system, which continues to be amazing the annual start up and county required pressure test, Matt was dispatched. He was very professional and checked the operation of all 45 sprinkler heads. He found one that was worn, quickly replaced it and activated the system. When we received the invoice for the extra work we were surprised at the low cost. Not sure I could have purchased one and installed it myself for less. I would not recommend hiring Allen for your yard work. I spent over $7,000 on 12 Emerald Green Arborvitaes (6-7 ft tall) and 12 #5 Adagio Maiden Grasses. Within 30 days, several Arborvitaes were already dying and falling over, and the mulch was overtaken by weeds. When I called to express my concerns, they sent someone named "Jimmy" to take a look. He acknowledged the issues and agreed to replace three dead shrubs--for an additional $580--per the terms of their contract. He also offered to spray Roundup for more money, since they "don't believe" in using a weed barrier. Now, 2.5 months later, none of the Adagio grasses have produced new shoots. I ended up hiring a reputable landscaping company to fix the mess. They noted that seven of the Arborvitaes had been planted too deeply and needed to be replanted. They also staked the shrubs to keep them upright--something Allen never did. The newly installed grasses from the new company are already showing healthy green growth. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, both in terms of quality and customer service. read more

Talked to me, discussed stuff, took my suggestion, cleaned up daily, hard workers. Just really, really spectacular service. We would not recommend Allen Outdoor for snow removal - only care about commercial clients and getting money. Gave them multiple chances to correct or at least communicate with us but they just ignored. First of all, they initially quoted us this year over double the price from last year. Had I not really gone through the fine print, I could have signed. When I questioned they supposedly sent me quote/contract for another client. For the January 5th storm, we were on the list to get pre-treated and no one showed up. When someone showed up to remove the first snow, they didn't remove the snow on the walkway to the front door (even though that was part of the contact) and left a huge pile of snow in the driveway where we are unable to get out of the garage and down the driveway so we had to call for you to come back. Then, we called twice (and emailed) to make sure we were on the list for the Friday, January 10th snow removal. We were told each time we were on the list and someone would be out. However, no one showed up; nor did anyone call to let us know that they either were running behind or would not be out at all. We would have been okay if someone would have communicated so we knew what was going on. I called and emailed Saturday but never received a response. So, I then called back the following week to find out the reason they did not show up. At that time, I was told they would look into it and get back to me. Unfortunately, no one did.  For the snow on February 18 and 19, I called on the 18th to verify someone would be out once snow stopped. I was informed we were on the list. I called late on the 19th, well after snow stopped, and were told once again we were on the list and they were trying to get to everyone by end of the day. No one showed up. Supposedly someone came on the 20th (almost 36 hours after snow stopped) and saw we had already taken care of it. No one called or anything to apologize that they did not fulfill their contract. When we called on the 21st to inquire we were told they have too many commercial clients and can't get to residential. Multiple issues and not good customer service or follow-up at any point in time. DO NOT recommend for snow removal. read more

This place is a disaster! Half the time you call and leave a message and no one replies or returns calls. Service people perform routine maintenance in a shoddy manner. Then, due to their lack of job performance, they schedule a time 2 weeks out to come and repair their own screw up, only to not show for the service appointment. Then rescheduling an appointment for a week later, they show at the end of the day and send you 2 invoices totaling $400 bc they can't even get the invoices correct! For somethin that should have been done during the maintenance appointment! Terrible customer service! read more

For some reason, Allen is unable to program a sprinkler system properly so that it comes on when it should. Also, when they did a large landscaping project for me, they planted several plants that were dead before they were put in the ground. Then they wanted me to pay more for new plants. In the end, not a satisfactory engagement on any service they provided. There are plenty of landscaping and sprinkler companies and I would suggest you try someone other than Allen. read more

Allen Outdoor Solutions had been doing our sprinkler maintenance for a little over a year and we were pleased with their service. However, we had quite a different experience when we hired them to solve a drainage issue in our backyard. There were too many breakdowns in communication and things that went wrong with this project to list here, but in summation after spending thousands of dollars to solve a drainage problem, we still have a backyard that becomes a swamp in the rain. When we called the company to voice our concerns the owners solution was to spend an additional $1800 to solve the problem that he claimed was never addressed initially, which is absurd. (Mind you this was after another employee came out and agreed the job wasn't completed correctly and would be addressed immediately at their cost and then they went radio silent for 3 weeks and failed to return any of my phone calls). If you decide to hire this company to do work for you, be sure to get everything in writing, or better yet, record your conversations with them because their recollections of what was discussed are foggy at best. We worked with the owner directly and he was extremely defensive, rude, dismissive and dishonest. He actually laughed out loud at our concerns and had the audacity to say "and this is my problem?!?" at one point. I have never experienced such a lack of genuine concern over a customers satisfaction. As a former business owner myself and someone who continues to work with clients daily, I cannot imagine treating a paying client the way we were treated. I would be happy to share more details with a anyone considering hiring Allen Outdoor Solutions (including ring camera footage that PROVES our claims were correct and Mr Allen is in fact a bold-faced LIAR) but I highly advise you to look for a company that actually cares about their clients and comes up with actual SOLUTIONS!! read more

Outdoor Solutions has issues with services. They give you a 4 hour window with no phone calls. The options are from 8-12am or 12-5pm. They do not call to confirm. They do not call when they are on their way. They do not call when they are running late. I had an 8am-12pm. At 1030am. I was next in line. At 12:24pm. Technician is running late, but on his way. I call again, he will be there soon. Still no call. He finally shows up at 1:20z over an hour late with no calls from Outdoor Solutions. Terrible customer service. read more

Paid almost 5,000 for landscaping and an irrigation system. Final result is horrific. We now need to hire a new landscaper to fix the damage. We have used them for years on our sprinkler system and this year they set up our annual turn on and check out of system. Joe, called 10 minutes before arrival and after looking around outside put on mask and foot coverings and kept his distance as I led him around to water shut off valve and wherever he needed to go didn't touch anything other than valve. Very polite and even though we don't consider ourselves "nervous" about virus he did a very prompt and professional job while waking allowances for any concerns people might have. The $2,500 cost is the cost to repair our basement after your shoddy work failed. There was no lid on the pit which is how the wiring got chewed. Four contractors provided a quote to restor and correct your work. They all commented extensively on how poor your work is. Sorry Steve, you're out numbered and and in denial about your work quality. Say what you will, your work failed to prevent our basement from damage caused by flooding which is what you were paid too much to screw up. I hired Steve Allen and his firm to install a sprinkler system in my yard. Because its is a L shape yard it was a challenge to design and implement. Once we had the start date on the books everything went very smooth. The lead on my project, Jon K. kept me informed the entire 2 days and communicated very well with me. I was very surprised to see a large team of men converge on my yard and moved quickly and when done each day, I could not tell anybody was digging up my yard, laying pipe and installing a very cool watering system. At the end of the project, Jon sat with me and explained the full system, allowed me to walk the entire project and make a few adjustments to suit my wants and needs and when they left I felt I got a good value and am looking forward them coming back in April to turn on the system and watch my gardens and lawn flourish. read more

Since my complaint was registered, I've been in contact with the company and everything was done to correct any misunderstandings between the company and by me. Allen Outdoor installed and maintains my irrigation system (since 2003). They also did some landscape for me. The technicians and installers have all (without exception) been professional, accommodating and courteous. They fix things right the first time, explain the work well and deliver when and what they promise. Any "call backs" I have had to require (very very few) were handled, promptly and with a "do the right thing" attitude.
