[[HIGHLIGHT]]My visit was disappointing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The intake lasted about three minutes. I explained my hip pain, but the chiropractor immediately concluded he knew the cause, claiming my forward folds were damaging my spine--despite the fact that my spine isn't even the problem, it's my hip, and I regularly weight lift.. zero forward folds. Both my M.D. and my new chiropractor HAVE advised me to stretch as much as possible, encouraging yoga/pilates. After this rushed assessment, I was put on a moving table that rocked me back and forth, then told I needed to come in 2-3 times a week. As a clinician, I recognize that this level of frequency seems excessive and could border on overprescribing, if not malpractice. Having experienced quality sports medicine from both physical therapists and chiropractors, I can confidently say this was not that. Many people say, "Trust the process; after four months, you'll feel better." But realistically, you'd likely feel better after four months regardless--you're just waiting it out. Fortunately, I found an excellent chiropractor who truly listens, provides proper care and treatment, and offers follow-up exercises to do at home, rather than simply pushing for frequent visits. I went back a few times but it was a waste of time, like literally almost zero actual treatment. read more

Recently I hurt me knee and was walking to compensate and then triggered pain in hip and leg where I could barely walk! Dr. Allen has been absolutely awesome from the very first visit. I needed to find a new chiropractor after my previous one for years, retired. After some good reviews on my first visit with Allen he took the time to explain what he was doing, how it would help me and what I need to do or not do to help the healing process. This office's dedication to customer service is second to none!!!! I was standing outside of a competing Chiropractor's office right down the street, after standing outside for 20 minutes, when they were to open at 9am and still hadn't, I turned to yelp to find another office. I found Allen's Chiropractic and they had amazing reviews so I gave them a call. They told me that they would be able to get me in, in about an hour. I told them that I was in a lot of pain and was close. The receptionist(she is amazing) told me to come in right away. When I got there I knew they would probably not take my insurance, but she insisted to call and check my insurance for me to see if there was anyway that I could save money. I have always had an opinion about chiropractics that they just pop and adjust and that is their entire purpose. I never considered seeing one because I was always afraid that something would happen and they would make any problem worse. Then the pandemic happened and I decided to keep myself busy playing tennis and hurt my back in a very big way. I couldn't walk. I made a desperate plea to get squeezed in for an appointment and it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I am 100% obsessed with Dr. Allen and the entire office staff! Dr. Allen is professional, supportive, explains things well, and is really honest about your condition! I started to develop neck issues and he helped with that too. Although my issues have greatly improved I realized with the help of Dr. Allen and his staff that because my job is physical I need to make sure that I take care of my back, so he is now and will always be part of my body maintenance and self care. I don't care how far I have to drive... he's the guy! Lucky for me it isn't just Dr Allen that is really great... the entire staff! Lisa is super fantastic. She is attentive, kind, professional, and makes you feel comfortable as soon as you get brought into the back part of the office. I injured my lower back 4 days ago during a workout. I thought it would go away with ibuprofen, ice and rest, but the pain was persistent. The earliest appointment I could get with the doctor assigned by my insurance was a week from today. I thought that would be fine, but the pain got really bad today from sitting too long during an office meeting. I called Dr. Roy Woods, who was recommended to me, but they took 3 days to call me back after I called twice, didn't accept HMOs, had expensive out of pocket fees, and didn't accept any type of credit cards - only cash. (Which seems shady to me. It's 2016.) They simply weren't helpful and only cared about business. I googled chiropractors in my area and "Allen's Chiropractic" came up first. I'm skeptical, so I went on Yelp, did the same thing, and "Allen's Chiropractic" came up first AGAIN. So naturally, I had to call to see what the fuss was about. Tammy picked up right away and I explained my situation. I was in terrible pain and needed to see someone right away, insurance or not. Tammy heard the urgency in my voice and told me even though they were busy, she'd find a way to get me in - just drive on over. I can't tell you how happy that made me! Luckily, I hadn't taken my lunch break yet, so I was good to go. I walked in and Tammy greeted me with a big smile. She has really bright and positive energy; she's perfect to have as the first person every patient meets. Even though I was paying out of pocket, she still asked me for my insurance card to see if she could work something out with them to help me. Even if nothing came out of it, I really appreciated her taking that extra step. Literally, two minutes from filling out my papers, she brought me in to see Dr. Allen. I told him my situation and he immediately pin pointed what was wrong with me. He quickly treated my problem area with multiple techniques. During the treatment, he gave me tips on the best way to sleep, work, and when I should be able to hit the gym again. He also told me what NOT to do (Some of which my girlfriend was wrong about - I'll have to tease her about this later lol.), which made me even more optimistic about my recovery. He told me I should feel a significant change by tonight, otherwise, call him back. Dr. Allen was very welcoming, easy to talk to, enjoys a good laugh, and most importantly - is extremely knowledgeable. 20+ years of business is certainly a testament to that. As I stood up from my treatment, I immediately felt a pleasing shift in my spine. I walked over to the front desk to pay and Tammy said she was on hold with my insurance company. Tammy actually got my rate lowered SIGNIFICANTLY and said it would continue to be discounted if I had to come back. AMAZING! These people really care about people and business comes second to them. Gotta love the irony - caring about people first is always the linchpin of the most successful businesses in the world. I definitely feel lucky to have stumbled upon Allen's Chiropractic. I have been going to Dr Allen for about 25 years. He and his staff are always professional and caring.

I was enticed by the tons of great 5 star reviews. Perhaps the reviews are for the staff being very personable. I'll agree that is the case, but I'm not there to chat and hang out. I've got persistent back and neck problems that need occasional adjustments and my review is based on the lack of results that other chiropractors are able to get in just one visit or two. I just cant agree that Dr Allen is the best. I can only base my review on my lack of results & the unqualified stand-in girl working the ultrasound machine. I've seen probably a dozen chiropractors throughout my life but my favorite is a 80 min round trip door to door. Its not always feasible for me to get out there when I need. Thus, I've been trying to find a good local chiro. I have several problems with my two visits: The first time I was there the normal ultrasound tech was out. Instead, a stand-in worked on me. In all the probably hundreds of times I've had ultrasound used on me I never knew that those machines, could BURN you. The stand-in burned me with the machine. Pretty shocking. Not sure if you need qualifications to run one of those but I *think* the receptionist was running it (?). Yeah, that was terrible. When I did see the Dr he told me that with the type of mid back pain I was having, it would take months (yes months plural) to fix and I'd have to come several times a week. Then, eventually just come back for the occasional maintenance. I know the drill, but of the two times I went in I was never actually adjusted. I was only strapped to a machine and left there. Hey maybe that works for some people but visits cost real money and it did nothing for me but empty my wallet. Again, I've seen many chiropractors in my life and I've never gone to one that didnt actually adjust me, Especially after 2 visits. After the first visit, I was extremely disappointed in getting *no* relief (and burned) but I decided to go again to give it a second chance. The second time I still wasn't adjusted (just put back on the machine) but at least the normal ultrasound lady was back and that was nice. I guess the machine I was attached to was supposed to stretch my back(?) Regardless with no relief or results It was the biggest waste of money. Visits are not cheap. I had to go later the next week to another chiro to get relieve the pre-migrane symptoms and pinched nerves. I think the other chiro is a bit too aggressive (the reason for my trying a place new), but a little short lived pain to get rid of a nagging constant pain is worthy trade off. Especially, when no relief is my alternative. The other chiro fixed the issue in just one visit. Best I can tell is that there are a lot of people who just don't know you can find a Chiropractor that will fix you or offer relief more quickly. Obviously, this will save you a lot of useless pain and money. The older I get the more it becomes apparent that some doctors have figured out how to be great business people, It lines their wallets but alternatively other doctors care about fixing their patients and giving them relief as quickly as possible. Or maybe I just have "chump" or "$$$" written on my forehead and he really does fix other people sooner(?) Either way, I left very disappointed. Based on compared results I cannot recommend Allen's, I'd go farther and tell people I know personally to actively avoid it unless you've got money to spare for the long treatment route or are getting treatments comped from a car accident settlement. Gentile could be used to describe the treatment I suppose. For me it was just ineffective. Obviously this place is working for a lot of people. My opinion is based on how good I felt after the first visit and the lack of change after 2. There should be some noticeable change after visit one. I gave this guy two chances . The staff is nice, but it's all about results. I didn't get any from them and the fact I was burned my fist visit, how can I give them any sort of recommendation at all? Sorry. One star read more

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now, but I just have not had the chance. I've been to and has been switching around many different chiropractors and massage places to try to find one that works for me. First of all, EVERYONE in the office are very professional. So far, I've been coming to Dr. Allen's office for about 2 months now. I can't say I'm completely painless but then again I'm a mom (what don't I do) and I don't expect my pain to completely go away anytime soon. They do help me manage my pain with the treatments I get. What I like the most is that the whole appointment (for me is about 30 mins) includes everything not like other chiropractor offices I've been to that they charge separately for every little thing they do. Dr. Allen's have different rooms for different treatments. My fav is the Green Room where I usually get the little massage and stem. =) It also helps that their office is down the street from me. Another big positive is that they are all KID FRIENDLY. I do have an 18 mons old baby that isn't always in the best of mood. To ask an 18 mons old to sit for 30 mins pretty much not doing anything isn't something babies are pleased about. At Dr. Allen's, they always try to help me with my baby to make the whole appointment more pleasant with the fact that I do come with a baby. They are also pretty flexible with the appointments. If you're in pain, I definitely recommend coming to see Dr. Allen and he will help set you up with a treatment that will help you. read more

I have driven by Dr. Allen's office at least a million times, yet I had been seeing another chiropractor in North Hollywood for years, with no great success. Little did I know that relief was within mere WALKING DISTANCE of my home! First, I checked other Yelp reviews and as you can see they're very positive. Then, I called his office and Tammy, his assistant, is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. She suggested I come by to meet Dr. Allen and talk with him, to see if he would be able to help me. So, I did exactly that and I was very impressed. By the outside of his office, you wouldn't realize that inside is a beautifully decorated suite of exam rooms with the latest in equipment. It's a small waiting room that's very comfortable, and his people are professional, yet warm and very caring. When I met him, I was impressed by how professional he is, how well he listens, how thoughtful he is when suggesting treatment parameters, that he actually examines a patient instead of poking here and there and blithely making a diagnosis. On the strength of that initial consult, I decided to return for treatment the next week. For several months, my lower back has had me in pretty severe pain, including sciatic pain down my left leg -- sometimes, down both legs, to the point where there are days I get out of bed almost crying, then need my cane to simply walk across the room. I have osteoarthritis in my back, shoulders, hips and knees, partially inherited but also because I wasn't exactly too kind to my body in my youth and early middle-age. My previous chiropractor was a "snap, crack and POP!" guy -- I always felt kind of like I was a number on an assembly line with him, and his adjustments (he only had three moves) were pretty rough. He always made a huge deal of how loud the crack was, which was his idea of progress. I'd leave feeling very sore and the adjustments never lasted. When I saw Dr. Allen, he made it clear his treatments have nothing to do with popping and cracking, and that's absolutely true. His treatment for my back consists of lengthening the space between lower vertebrae, to take the pressure off of my sciatic nerve. He has been using traction, and the traction table is comfortable yet very effective. This has been followed by ultrasound, which is great for alleviating pain. Followed by his adjustments, which are gentle and do not leave me sore. There is no popping, no snapping, and definitely no cracking! During today's treatment, he was able to adjust my hip to the point where the extremely bad pain I'd been having for months was actually gone during my two-mile walk, and then when it did recur it was *considerably less* than it's been in MONTHS. He also offers cold laser therapy, and if you're not familiar with it, you should be. It's a boon for those who have repetitive stress injuries. (I was actually in the clinical trials for cold laser therapy when it was first being considered for FDA approval, and it literally saved my writing career at the time, because my CTS was so severe.) I have a torn rotator cuff and it's given me a lot of pain for so long, especially when I'd reach for something high or low on shelves. After one treatment, the pain was lessened and I could tell the swelling was reduced. I've had more treatments since, and my range of motion is steadily improving without pain. Before I met Dr. Allen, I had tried going to a pain management doctor and was thoroughly UNimpressed with that guy. He looked like a strung-out surfer dude, never really gave me alternatives to drugs, and had me on 80mg of OxyContin twice daily. When that didn't work, he switched me to a combination of Norco and methadone, after I'd been on morphine -- yes, the pain was that severe. All those narcotics did was make me fall asleep during conversations with my family and friends, sleep all day and gain weight. I knew there *had* to be a better alternative and so did my regular Internal Medicine doc. I truly though I'd just have to "suck it up, Buttercup" and keep tolerating the pain, a depressing thought at best. However, now that I've met and become a patient of Dr. Allen, I'm already enjoying greater mobility, my pain is less than it was, and his services are very affordable. He is both a gentle man and a gentleman. You'll love meeting Tammy and Jeanette, too. (I hope I have J's name right, because I'm terrible with names!) My main regret is that I hadn't called Dr. Allen's office sooner -- I could have saved myself about TWO YEARS of time, expense, PAIN and anxiety that were spent via the Pain Management dude. If you have insurance, call them, because they do accept many insurance plans. If you're like me and don't have insurance at the moment, call them anyway -- because they're much more affordable than expensive narcotics to mask your pain while you keep doing more damage to your body. You cannot afford to be without your good health! read more

Needed an appointment badly on a Monday morning because back was in considerable pain on Sunday. Called early about 5 mins before they opened at 8am. Tammy was a pleasure to talk to on the phone and pulled up my name in her system after only telling her once (my full name can be hard to register over the phone) and got me in within an hour and a half to see the Dr. Waiting time was normal for a same day appointment. Once inside the room Dr. Allen was exceptional, he diagnosed me within seconds of looking at my back and neck. I have another appointment set with him in a few days and made that appointment without hesitation. I had never been to a chiropractor before I had a car accident. I totaled my car and my back. My spine specialist sent me to Dr Allen. I'll admit, I was sceptical. But after a few sessions my back was getting better! I could hardly walk when I went to him. He's a miracle worker. Along with his wonderful staff he got me walking again. I love Dr. Allen's technique. The office is very nice inside. The staff is sweet as can be and caring and they work well as a team. Everyone knows each patient. You will feel very welcomed. My 16 year old daughter first came in for pain caused by repetitive injury from high school golf. Dr. Allen found her problem quickly, explained it very well and she was on her way to being treated. Treatment and care does not get better than this!!! Dr. Allen is by far the most amazing and healing Chiropractor I have been to. I had extreme back pain. I was in the emergency room because my leg had given out and I could not walk. After only two treatments I had begun to feel relief. I went for an MRI and Dr. Allen confirmed that I had severally damage my sciatic nerve, but surgery was not necessary. He takes extreme care in treating his patients as to make sure that they do not over exert themselves and has given me direction as to exercises in baby steps to strengthen my back as well as massage treatment and nutritional guidance as to which foods are necessary to assist with muscle regeneration in order to build up my back muscles to enable the proper support of my nerves as to not increase damage. His staff can be compared to none! They are kind and caring and take great measures to make sure that you are able to be seen and work with your insurance plans. Just walking into Dr. Allen's office is healing. You truly feel as if there is a team of caring professionals that truly enjoy what they do and take pride in caring for and helping their patients. I can not speak highly enough about this team of care givers and highly advise getting in to see them. I had been to a multitude of Chiropractor's and have only rec'd relief with Dr. Allen and his team.
