Cynthia and I met ahead of the appointment and she went through more than an hour or so providing explanations and estimates (and to tell me how much better she is than other contractors). I took the day off work for the future appointment we made. Waited. Waited. Waited. No show, no call. When I called her, she gave the ol' "I forgot" because " something happened" followed by an "oh well". No apology, no offer for another appointment. No future follow-up call. Very unprofessional. Things happen in life, I understand that. But be courteous of other's time and give a call, apologize, and offer to help in the future. But it was made clear in the previous conversation that she doesn't "need" the work. There was no concern that I needed the work done and that I took the day off my job to meet her here. PS...looks like she has a long history of FLAKE by the other reviews. Sad. read more

I had an unusual situation occur that baffled my limited electrical repair knowledge. My plugs in my two bathrooms are controlled by a GFCI plug located in the garage. My home is 38 years old and that GFCI outlet has been there from the beginning. I tried resetting the GFCI, but it would not reset as it normally does so I assumed the GFCI outlet had finally pooped out. I replaced the GFCI and then discovered I was not receiving any power to the outlet so I next assumed the circuit breaker might have failed (I had a new electrical panel installed 6 years earlier). I called Allen's and Cynthia answered, asked me a few questions, and then told me she would be at my home within a couple of hours. When she arrived she began trouble-shooting the situation. I told her my garage door opener had also stopped working so she checked the connections within that plug box. She determined one of the wires within that box had backed off slightly (after several years) from the other wires connected to the wire-nut. As soon as she reconnected the wires, the power flowed through the plug box. She then re-wired the new GFCI plug I had bought and that plug also worked again. Cynthia's expertise and experience shined through and she did a great job resolving my issue within a very reasonable amount of time. Her charge for her service was also very reasonable. I agree with several of the recent negative reviews (and suspect that many of the older glowing ones are fake). Short version - Cynthia is VERY difficult to reach by phone; calls back days later, if at all. I finally got her to schedule me - AND SHE NEVER SHOWED UP. Didn't show up, didn't call, didn't return my calls. When I finally got her, after 3 more tries, she had lame excuses, "I just got your messages, I was out of cell range, I don't see you in my book". Once she remembered scheduling me, she apologized profusely for forgetting our appointment, said so sincerely how embarrassed she was, and told me she didn't have her book in front of her, but she'd call me the next day to reschedule. Well... that was three days ago. TOTAL FLAKE! and, um... how is it possible that you don't see me in your schedule AND you don't have your book in front of you? Which is it? read more

I called Allen's Electric to help me with an electrical problem with our outdoor GFCCI switch. Cynthia came out two days later-only because I could not meet her the next day-and diagnosed the problem. I tried to replace the switch myself but that did not solve the problem. She did a thorough diagnostic on my home and found that the issue was caused by some loose neutral wires in my fuse box. I would never have been able to diagnose this problem myself. Having some unusual issues with L2 charging station. Cynthia, at Allen's Electric, returned my call promptly, came over the same afternoon, despite originally telling me it might be a few days. She and her helper were methodical, professional and thorough. They identified some messiness in the panel, but nothing requiring correction. Then they re-configured the ground connections, which I requested, based on information from user forums. Since then, no problems whatsoever. The price was very reasonable, and there was no pressure to do work that was not necessary to solve the problem. Allen's Electric is a phenomenal contractor! I've been having issues with installing my Ring Pro camera due to a insufficient transformer...and the transformer was absolutely nowhere to be found. I hunted for weeks looking for it, in the attic (from a single spot since I couldn't fit in the access panel), the basement, the electrical panel...you name it, couldn't find it. After months of trying this and that to circumvent an insufficient transformer, I finally googled local electricians. I found Allen's Electric and contacted them. Spoke to Cynthia, who was extremely friendly over the phone and readily made an appointment with me for the following week. She was very flexible with scheduling and made sure to work around my schedule. They came this morning, both Cynthia and Stephen, and immediately got working. Not only did they find the old transformer, but they replaced it with one they picked up prior. They found it and replaced it quickly, all while explaining what they did and how they did it. Not only that, but they also pointed out a few things while in the attic that I need to have repaired (roof leaks). It's so difficult finding a friendly, knowledgeable, fair priced, contractor these days that doesn't come from a referral or drawn out research. I know reviews are taken with a grain of salt, but I had to write a review to say how pleased I was with their work, demeanor, and price. If you need electrical work done in your home, I would highly recommend Allen's Electric. I'm not sure what happened in those negative reviews, but from my one and (so far) only time I've worked with them, it was a great experience. During the scheduling and vetting process, they returned any calls they missed, and actually showed up earlier than the predetermined time AND got the work done in the exact amount of time they quoted over the phone. allen's electric comes complete with highly intelligent electricians who are nothing short of miracle workers. and the cost for the quality of work done is well within reason. they have installed LED can lights which turn standard can lights that cost a fortune to run, into power saving, uber bright lights with a natural white light instead of that warmish yellowish light you get from the old incadescent bulbs. they arrive within they time slot they specify (which is only 1 hour wide, where others may be 3 or 4 hours) and they courteous enough to call well in advance ahould run late or need to reschedule. these amazing electricians are prestidigitators of awesome and I would ABSOLUTELY recommend them to all my family and friends to call Allen's Electric for any and all electrical advice! read more

Allen's Electric is amazing!! I can't praise them enough. About 6 months ago I bought an older (1950's) home in Stockton. I've had significant problems with the electrical and they have come out and done significant work at a reasonable price. They came out to repair a socket that burned and at the same time serviced the electrical panel getting rid of several issues in my old panel and getting the electricity on in the converted garage (which another electrician said would cost $1200.00). They also found I had serious (about to burn the house down) issues with an old panel I thought was no longer in use. When opened, that panel was too hot to touch and arcing. If they hadn't been there and taken quick action, things could have gone very badly for me and my family. Allen's Electric took the time to educate me about maintaining my electrical panel, and how to "baby" the wiring in my older home to avoid problems and the need to rewire my entire home. When the old panel was replaced, they also repaired my door bell and showed me how to maintain my panels to prevent future problems. They have been more than willing to answer my numerous questions about appliances (just say no to space heaters and toaster ovens), to educate me about the electrical system in my home, and they have made me and my family feel safe!
