The initial consult went famously. Pete arrived smiling, friendly, and pleasant. Measured quickly without much ado. When it came time to have the carpet installed, the guys from Venezuela working for them seemed nice and were respectful even though there was a significant language barrier. There were times when one of them did an awful lot of gabbing on the phone instead of working, however, as long as the carpet was installed both upstairs and down in a relatively timely manner, I didn't care. Simply an observation. The trouble came whenever I needed to have something corrected. The woman who normally answered the phone almost always seemed put out, exasperated, and just generally poor behaviour. I'm still scratching my head as to why she would even choose a customer svc position because she was just miserable. The closet doors in the basement that needed to be fixed because the installers put them back incorrectly never got fixed. The threshold going from the hallway into the upstairs bathroom was never fixed, so still looked quite ratchet when we left. Lastly, there was a spot on the stairs that was not carpeted and remains as such because the house sold. When I say we made several phone calls to get these issues corrected, I mean SEVERAL. All I can say is GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Even though they might be able to save you a few pennies or possibly even work with you on payment, it is NOT WORTH THE FRUSTRATION. Buyer Beware!!!!!!! This was a very simple 14x18 carpet replacement. Our main concern, from the beginning, was that we didn't want a visible seam and wanted a 14' wide carpet to prevent problems. We were assured that no seam would be seen. Well, after paying $1,600, during the install my wife and I voiced concerns about the visible seam and we were assured that it was just the lighting that was causing things to look that way. Surprisingly the next day the seam was still there!!! It didn't disappear!! We contacted and finally went back into the store and discussed the matter along with showing pictures to them and they agreed that this was poor workmanship and that the owner would come out and look at the install and make a plan to make it right. Three days later the owner did drop by and looked at the carpet. He said that it was really bad and that there was an easy fix. He asked if he could come out with another crew in the next couple of days and get it fixed. We welcomed them any time. The owner told me that the original installers would not be the ones to repair the carpet unless he was there to show them how to make the repair. This all sounded great. Weeks go by and no repair. The original installer came by without calling several times and no one was home. Finally the original installer shows up and wanted to fix the carpet. Luckily my wife is fluent in Spanish and was able to let him know that we were assured that his boss was going to be with him when he fixed the carpet. He came in, looked at the carpet and left. The office told us that we refused to let him inside our home and told him to go away. Totally false!!! All we want is our carpet to not have a huge seam down the side of our living room. After playing phone tag with the office we finally went back down to the showroom and spoke to the salespeople. They said the owner was out of town for 2 weeks, December 13, and that he would call us and arrange a time to fix this. It is now December 28th. They are not going to call or repair this carpet. We were trying to help a local business and what we got was an amateur install, and get accused of being rude to people. This is for review purposes only!! I had Rick from Allen's Flooring In tooele come to my house and bid a job to do the carpet, LVP, and tile in my basement and bathroom. Got back to me and started at a good time. When the job was all said and done, the job in fact wasn't done at all. There are holes in my newly hung and painted Sheetrock, scuff marks and tile grout all over my walls in my basement they didn't do shelves in my shower like was discussed and paid for, they didn't set the carpet all the way to the wall, air pockets under the carpet, LVP is peeling up and won't stay down, along with leaving my basement full of garbage and half eaten lunch. On top of all that I call Rick to find out who I need to get In touch with to come to my house and fix the problems and telling him I was upset and irritated, he then threatened to come to my house and "beat my ass in front of my family" I tried reaching out to the owner of Allen's flooring never heard from him, it took me going to the store 2 weeks later to finally get ahold of him, and was told that I was being hostile for expressing what was going on, on my side of the story. And was hung up on. Was also told about his employee threatening to come back to my house and beat my ass was just an argument and things like that happen. Needless to say I wouldn't not recommend them to anyone at all! Unless you want to be threatened and your property to be treated like a construction site! Allen's Floor Covering did a Wonderful job for me! I wanted 'top of the line' in carpet and installation, and I got it. We had a large, complicated area to cover.....stairs, hallways, a large room and a small room, it was beautifully done. The installer was very professional, and knowledgeable. (I wish I remembered his name.) Unlike a previous review, I received all financial quotes before they even ordered the flooring. There were no surprises. I had the work done 3 months ago, and I've waited a few months before reviewing, to make sure everything stayed good.....and it has. Thank you, Allen's Flooring. I had planned to give Allen's five stars. Their work was great. Everything looks lovely. They were easy to work with and very helpful when making decisions about products and colors. Their laminate installer, Pete Jr. was awesome and did a beautiful job on my floors. I was very happy with my experience. Then.... They tried to pull a bait and switch. I was clear when talking to Nicole, their showroom attendant, that I wanted bottom line quotes. She assured me that prices quoted included installation/labor. We had to pay extra for tear out of old carpet and carpet pad. Every time she gave me a quote, I would make sure it was the total cost. I asked them to price match my carpet from another carpet store. They agreed. Nicole gave me the final quote. We even talked about how a salesman at another store told me he could beat Allen's prices, but then tacked on $800 worth of labor to the final price. She laughed right along with me, because she had always told me labor was included in their price. My husband paid in full for the price quoted. A week later they installed our laminate and carpet on a Friday and Monday. Then the following Wednesday, Nicole called me and said "we forgot to charge you for the labor on the laminate, you still owe us $800." This is an illegal business practice. I paid the agreed upon price, services were rendered, then they said I owe more. Pete Sr. called my husband and accused him of trying to pull a fast one on them, that we were trying to cheat them. He continually insulted my husband, then tried to turn it around and said "I hoped you would be an upstanding citizen and work with me." I will not be paying any more, and my five star rating went to one star. It's really too bad that they are willing to jeopardize their reputation for a few hundred dollars, that they aren't even going to get. If they continue to hound me, I will contact the BBB and other consumer watchdogs. I cannot recommend Allen's flooring because of this. read more
