This is a fantastic brewery to visit! The beers are tasty, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Everyone who works here is so friendly and kind. Friends and I stopped by for happy hour- select pints of beer are on special for $5. I tried the Mangolorian and Main Squeeze. They were so refreshing! I like that they offer some inexpensive snacks, like popcorn. The decorations are interesting too! It's fun to look at all of the labels that the brewery has used. I came to Alley Kat Brewery for the first time this week to attend their Fall Launch Party and boy oh boy was it a treat! I saw many familiar faces from previous events Alley Kat had served at including the fabulous Kristin :-) What's not to love about my beer name doppleganger who also loves kats and wears kat prints? MeOwSeRs!!! I digress... Alley Kat was warm and inviting from the moment we arrived at 5PM. They had freshly made soft pretzels on hand along with cheese and meat nibbles to compliment the launch. Now, let's get to the good stuff... The BEER! Hubby and I were on cloud 9 that our favourite Alley Kat Beer - Freshly Squeezed (with real grapefruit) was still on tap and EVEN BETTER they had 4 packs of it for sale! Our local liquor store only had it in a combo pack but this was like finding a giant bag of your favourite one of a kind Jelly Belly Flavours - Yes, kids... Freshly Squeezed is that good! ( And Yay! So I've had a gift certificate to Alley Kat for the past year that I won last summer and have been trying forever to use. AK have been brewing beers since 1995; craziness! Well, we finally made it out on a Tuesday afternoon. The inside has a nice layout. There's growlers/howlers/pints, merchandise, 6/12 packs and then a small tasting room at the back. Their merch prices are a bit out of wack - $45.00 for a hoodie? Er, no thanks. We've obviously had Alley Kat before but one of the workers was kind enough to let us try everything they had on tap. Plus it was free! Nice. - Main squeeze grapefruit ale - Aprikat golden ale - Scona gold kolsch - Sunburst session ale (seasonal) - Full moon pale ale - Buena vista brown ale I ended up filling my free growler with their sunburst session ale and used my $30.00 to buy a couple howlers and water bottles. Trust me, those water bottles are great. Their beers are pretty bland and boring taste wise but that's Alley Kat for you. There's a reason Alley Kat Brewing has managed to stick around in Edmonton for more than 25 years. They make wonderful beer and have a cozy, welcoming taproom if you want to stick around for a pint (or 2... or 3!) My favourite is their Aprikat Ale. I'm not always a fan of fruity beers but this one manages to hit the spot. There's a reason it has stayed on the regular menu for decades. They also have fun seasonal flavours. I'm a big fan of the Long John Salted Caramel beer they released this winter. It's smooth and easy to drink but also flavourful and unique. They recently switched over from bottles to cans which was somewhat disappointing but I understand why they did it. If you prefer to pick up direct from the brewery, they offer an extra 10% off if you buy four 6-packs. That may seem like a lot but with how tasty the beer is, you'll go through them fast! read more

I bought some beer for a party and wanted to keep it local. Alley Kat was my first choice. I didn't realise how close to Old Strathcona the brewery is, what a pleasant surprise! I drove into the industrial estate and the girl serving remembered me from my previous enquiry, which was really nice. It wasn't quiet! The phone was ringing and there was a constant flow of customers buying beers and filling up their returned growlers. It's great to see they are popular! What really caught my eye (aside from the amazing Ally Kat hats they sell) was the tasting bar. So cute! A perfectly sized bar to sample all the different beers on tap and find your favourite. They also do brewery tours but I was on the clock and had just missed that last your of the day by 10 mins. I'll definitely return for the tour and bring some out of town visitors. The beer! I'd previously only tried the Aprikat beer which is really light and tasty. I got a variety for the group and everyone enjoyed, but the Summer Squeeze was the most in demand. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and made the evening fun! Other honourable mentions are the dark porter Polar Night and the barley "wine" Olde Deuteronomy. I used to never really like beer, or so I thought, until that is I tried Alley Kat's Aprikat Beer. I don't even like apricots, but somehow, with beer it works. So it shouldn't have surprised me that I would enjoy their grapefruit (again another flavour I usually don't like) Main Squeeze beer. A light wheat ale with a hint of grapefruit. Delish. Of course it is no longer summer, an I was at Alley Kat for the launch of their new Pink Dragon IPA. Quite hoppy, but very good. I haven't had all their beers, but whatever I have had I've enjoyed. This event had drink tickets for $2, a raffle (with raffle sales going to support Breast Cancer Society of Alberta), free food (pull pork sliders, cookies, and watermelon) plus brewery tours. Tons of fun. Of course you can always find Alley Kat at various restaurants, bars, and liquor stores around Edmonton and Alberta. You can also buy direct from the brewery. The have mix and match six packs for $14. Alley Kat is local, and always good. I'll definitely drink to that. read more

Alley Kat is just wonderful! A small Edmonton craft brewery that is a big, big part of making Edmonton the awesome place that it is! The staff is all phenomenal; knowledgeable fun, beer loving lot that all really care about the product they are making. The beer, wow, so good. And, I'm not the biggest beer drinker (I know, for shame) but that just goes to show how good it is: Even I like (most) of their luscious liquids! I went down for the launch party of the new summer brew, the Grapefruit Summer Squeeze, I loved it! I also fell head over heals for the Baltic Porter, rich, deep, creamy with caramel notes. Yummy! While there I did the short and sweet brewery tour which was fun and informative! It was cool seeing how they make it, the methods that go into brewing beer as well as learning awesome facts like: 100% of the bottles used are all recycled! Gotta love the Green initiative! Also, they do not use any artificial preservatives: shorter shelf life of six months, but much better product! But my favourite Alley Kat fact: Their beer is quite popular in South Korea! Ya, who knew!! So next time you need to grab a few beers for the weekend, skip the liquor store, drop into Alley Kat, have a taste of what's on tap and get your beer right from the source! read more

This local brewery is about as good as it gets. They make 4 main beers (Aprikat apricot wheat ale, Amber brown ale, Charlie Flint's organic lager, and Full Moon pale ale) along with some seasonal ones - my personal favorite is Aprikat. You can go right to the brewery and buy the freshest batch of beer, and I'm told by the staff that they actually go around to liquor stores to make sure that old/expired beer isn't on the shelves - nice to know I won't be getting beer that's been sitting on the shelf for over a year, as I often find is the case with other beers. Overall, the beer tastes great and I like the fact that it's local and fresh. Definitely my drink of choice. Try some Aprikat! read more

Effing awesome! I like craft beer. And though I am no expert, I know what I like and I like Alley Kat. As Edmonton as you can get, this place is a gem in our very own backyard. A large part of the ingredients are Edmonton/Alberta. The distribution is very local, almost exclusively Alberta. (It is licensed in Korea, but the ingredients will be different) The brewery is getting a great rep for the stuff the do to apricots, grapefruit and pink dragons. And they are doing it well! I caught the recent Pink Dragon launch where they were selling glasses of the stuff for 2$ and were giving tours of the brewery. Shout out to Jennie for letting us know about this! Recommend this beer to anyone outside of town because this is definitely an exclusive Edmonton experience. What a great beer town Edmonton could become! read more

There's nothing better than seeing a sign pointing you to a local brewery with some of your preferred beers when you're in the midst of a crazy run around town in search of hard to find items. Which is precisely what happened on my way up 99th St. I made a mental note to end up day with a stop at Alley Kat... after all the running around, one of their delightful brews sounded like a great way to cap off the day! In I went to buy some beer to take home with me. There's no tap room or anything here, it's not a place you're going to come hang out with your friends for a pint some afternoon. But the tasting room that Alley Kat has set up is a nice option to sample the different beers in stock before you decide which one to buy. I went home with a 6 pack of their Main Squeeze, a grapefruit flavoured beer which was surprisingly like on the grapefruit flavour, quite refreshing. I also included a bottle of the pumpkin spice seasonal. It's the last of what's left from before Christmas... saving that one for a day I want to feel all cozy and pumpkin spicy! If you're ever in the area, stop in, say hello and try some beer! They're a very friendly and helpful bunch and your refrigerator and home will thank you for stocking a local treat. read more

Recently got a tour of the brewery - and I felt like a kid in a candy store...that is is you substitute "beer" for "candy" and "adult who loves beer" for "kid". As excited as Charlie was to finally get a peek into the mythical chocolate factory, I couldn't wait to see where the yummy beers that populate my favorite haunts are born. Sure, in the end, it looked just like every warehouse I worked at as a disinterested teenager...but this is were beer comes from, so that's pretty cool. BUT(!!!) here's the best part...they don't only make the golden elixir here - (dramatic pause) - you can buy it here...you can sample it here....hell, you can smell it here (even at a block away). What a cute little brewery! I was shocked to find out how tiny it actually is and how much they actually produce for Alberta! Alley Kat is super popular in Alberta and I love that I can enjoy a cool local brew... simply delicious! I came here for a launch event and my oh my was it ever busy! The staff were very friendly, but I would have liked them to have a little more food... cold pretzels aren't my thing. I did however appreciate the free beer! I have a long-time love for Alley Kat Aprikat beer so I was delighted to give it a try. I think it will definitely make the list for best summer beers! read more

Alley Kat is such an amazing demonstration of the local food and beverage scene in Alberta. They are all over the city and province, running cask nights, tasting events, working festivals etc, consistently throughout the year. I have been to various events hosted by Alley Kat over the years, generally free to attend at either the brewery or other venues. They always have either free beer samples, or close to it (nicely discounted) and delicious local food just for showing up! I love getting to interact with anyone who works for Alley Kat because everyone I have met is extremely friendly and fun to be around! Anytime I want a growler I generally pop by the brewery for a quick fill, and to check out if they have any new products. They sell both growler fills and bottled beer right at the brewery, along with various other swag. My two favorite beers are the main squeeze (grapefruit infused ale), and the buena vista (smooth brown ale). They are amazingly collaborative, which is really the essence of the Edmonton culinary scene. I also love that there is always some sort of cask in the works, so you get to sample some of their fun beer experiments! If you haven't tried Alley Kat, I highly suggest to give them a shot! read more

I cannot say enough god things about this place. Not only are the beers great but the staff is knowledgeable and helpful as well. I'll admit, I am a bit of a microbrew snob, so I appreciate having a great local brewery in Edmonton such as Alley Kat. Alley Kat offers a wide range of beers from IPAs to lagers to the Edmonton icon, "Aprikat" which is a great way to end a hot summer's eve. They also put on local beer tastings as fundraisers with local community groups (I went to a beer tasting at the Beaumont Library about a year ago) as well as kegs and keg supplies for larger events. Where Alley Kat sets themselves above everyone else is their launch parties. Once every season, Alley Kat will have a launch party for their seasonal releases. At these events, customers are invited to try out their new beers along with appetizers for free. That's right, for FREE. What a great way to say thanks to your loyal customers! Keeping it local with this brewery. One of the best and widely popular beers from Edmonton. I quite enjoy coming to their showcase parties. You get a free tour and a lot of information of how they craft their beers and on top of that free samples and food. My particular favorite Alley Kat beer is their Pumpkin beer, sadly it is only seasonal. A lot of places have started making pumpkin beers in their line-ups but this was one of the first and in my opinion the best. read more

They invited us to their launch party for the Pink Dragon Imperial IPA but unfortunately we had to be back on the road. She actually spoke over top of me while I was asking a question dismissively saying Thank You and hung up. The sad thing is I used to like this beer. Now the thought of it makes me feel awful.
