We just made it to the motel in time for our mother's day supper. We did not see any of the sights for that day. They were squeezed in on Sunday so we had no time in Jasper to walk around the shops. The bus was very uncomfortable. No one came to tell us why we were stopped so long at Hinton until my husband went to see. He fell off the bus and scraped his knee on the side that he had a boot on for a broken ankle. All in all it was a terrible tour. It was our first and last bus tour ever!

She has a wealth of knowledge so ask questions - especially if you can walk with her between stops! To start off, the tours are managed by Eventbrite which was really easy to use. The booking process took less than five minutes each after which the tickets were emailed to us. After arrival to the Rutherford House (the meeting place) it was soon apparent that there were only going to be the two of us, plus Nadine who was our tour guide. Nadine had no issues going with a small group. The atmosphere of the night, which started at 9PM, could not have been spookier as it was pitch black, and the wind was howling. It was like we had the whole campus to ourselves as few, if any, students were seen that night. We learned a lot about the U of A's history, with lots of interesting trivia. Nadine, was very personable and had a lively sense of humor. She was easy to hear and spoke very clearly. After this experience I will never look at the U of A the same way ever again. The stories were indeed spooky, and I find myself reflecting on the content a day later. There probably won't be many tours like this one left this year, but I encourage anyone to sign up for this when Nadine sets up shop again in the New Year. Overall, my friend and I had a great time despite the chilly weather. The tour was well worth the price of admission. I look forward to trying out other, different ghost tours with Nadine in the future.

I've always found that high quality road bike rentals are extremely rare to find, so this was a welcome service for me in Edmonton. In fact, this may be the only outfit providing road bike rentals in the city. Ben was highly professional and quick with leading me through the rental process. He went above and beyond my expectations, going out of his way to facilitate the pickup and drop-off as well. He also swapped out the standard pedals included with the rental bike with my own clipless set. The bike itself was a Felt Z95 and was in excellent condition. It included a tool bag, spare tube and pump that (thankfully) I never had to use! Based on my experience with their rental service, I have no doubt that their cycling tours (including one from Jasper to Banff) would be excellent also. Highly recommended!

Amy and Rick from Barr Estate winery do a fantastic tour! 2…read moreacres of raspberry's- 3 weeks of raspberry picking- can you imagine?! They need 2400 lbs for their wine. And the rhubarb and raspberries are hand picked. The Cherry's are harvested with a harvester and it sounds like quite an interesting piece of equipment. They are considered a cottage winery so they can only make wine out of what they can grow. Go local! They only use the juice from their fruits and never the pulp of the fruit so they use a fruit press. Takes 4 weeks to get everything pressed. And the pulp- well it all goes to the sheep. And the sheep do their thing. The compost goes back out in the fields this completing the circle of life. Rhubarb and raspberry only have enough sugar to get the wine to about 4% so they add more sugar to get the wine up to 12%. They do a cool fermentation that takes 42 days. Takes longer for the yeast to eat all the sugar and at the end there is no sugar left. So they sweeten the wine back up. They filter their wine 4 times and they also filter with a high quality filter at the very end that filter sterilizes their wine. Since they do that they don't have to add sulphites to their wine. So cool! No herbicides or pesticides out in the field and they don't want to use harsh chemicals in the wine process. Their goal is 12000 bottles of wine a year, 3000 of each of the three flavours. But they have a Cherry Port coming soon and we can't wait to try it! Check out their discounted tour deal on Groupon too!

We had a great experience here. I purchased a winery tour from Groupon, they do tours even through…read morethe winter. Winter tours involve a complete explanation of the wine making process from picking the fruit to bottling the wine. Each step and the tools involved are explained along the way. There is a very organic flow of how the presentation comes together, like you're being sped through the entire process, which normally takes months. The winter tour goes into depth over the science behind how the wine comes together, the choices they made as a "cottage winery" and how they came to produce such a nice product. They will only produce 4 wines in as many bottles as the harvested fruit will make, they have to use whatever they can grow on their land and they keep all of their ingredients and processes as simple as possible to retain the flavor of the fruit in their wines. Seems simple but it's very cleverly thought out in its own complicated way. If any part of their process changed they wouldn't be able to make the wines they make, it's that simple. "The Barb" is a rhubarb red wine. Very light in body and flavorful. The colour resembles a rosé, it has a light finish with the slight bitterness of rhubarb on the tongue. That was our first sample. "The Ruby" is a rhubarb strawberry red that feels very substantial. Strawberry smells fill the room when you're holding a glass and there's a crisp bite to this wine with a sweet strawberry finish. It leaves you wanting another sip, making this wine an insidious guest at your next party that wants to stay and cause trouble ;). This was my favorite. "The Other Red" is made with raspberry. I'm not a huge fan of sour tastes, this one was a bit tart, has strong body and lots of interesting flavours. After talking with Rick, the idea of adding a wine in oak barrels, or even better in of oak whiskey barrels, would transform this wine (an idea they are toying with) but it was a bit too sour for me. "The Jewel" is a soon-to-be-released fortified wine coming out in May 2018 that has me very excited. I want able to taste that one yet because it's still in production. You are able to buy directly from Barr Estate, just call or text if you want one or two bottles and they'll accommodate you. There have been some events held on their grounds, which would make for a very interesting reception venue, unlimited boutique wines made 100 feet away? Heck yeah. Go for the Groupon, get the tour. Warm weather tours involve seeing the orchards, sheep, Alpaca, the dogs and the beautiful rustic farm. Cherry blossoms come out for a week, book your tour then and you'll get an unforgettable stroll through all the cherry trees with white fragrant flowers... Seriously, they run groupons all year long for the tours, winter groups are usually under 5 or 6 people, summer tours are 20+.

We were picked up and dropped off in Churchill Square by the transit stop and Tix on the Square. We learned about Edmonton's history, culture, demographics, and even politics as we rolled by so many attractions and points of interest. Our bus was comfortable and the sound system was great. Our host Greg was a very cool laid back sort who made the trip very enjoyable. He stopped the bus a few times so we could take photos of the spectacular scenery. Some of the things we saw included City Hall, the Winspear Cocert Hall, Edmonton Sport Hall of Fame, Citadel Theatre, Whyte Ave Entertainment/Shopping District, Old Strathcona Farmer's Market, Garneau Theatre, Hawrelak Park, University of Alberta, Fort Edmonton, the huge West Edmonton Mall, the posh Glenora neighborhood, the Neon Museum, and the 124 St Gallery and Shopping District. Oh, and at the end of the tour, you get a free cookie ! It was a terrific way to learn about the area and see some very nice sights.

Waking up at the crack of dawn is not easy for me. But I was wide awake for my early morning…read moreballoon launch that morning. Our flight was originally purchased to be an anniversary celebration, but high winds forced the company to cancel. We had to rebook twice (once they cancelled because of weather, and once we canceled due to lack of a babysitter), and each rebooking was handled by a friendly staff member who worked hard to accommodate our schedules and to rebook us as soon as possible. So, our anniversary celebration was two months late, but what a fun celebration it was! We met at a local business where a van picked us up, taking us to the launch site (near the zoo). Once there, passengers got to help the crew set up the balloon, learning a bit about the history of ballooning in the process. Then we launched! And we got to enjoy a smooth, peaceful, hour-long flight over our fair city - from the glorious river valley, alongside downtown, over the city centre airport (we actually has a plane take-off below us -surreal!), over houses, highways, shopping centres, football fields, industrial parks, and farmlands. We finally landed in an open field in far northeast Edmonton. Once on the ground, the crew met us with the van. We helped put the balloon back on the trailer, and then toasted out flight with a glass of champagne, an aeronaut tradition. Finally, we were driven back to our cars, where we were given our flight certificates. This was my second hot air balloon flight, and I found this company to be respectful and professional. I look forward to the time when my son is older and we can take him. When that day comes, we are likely to call Windship again.

They say they will return your calls, but they never ever do. It seems they just really care about getting your money and not so much about their customer's experience. We are still waiting for our flight. If we are not very careful with bookings, our tickets will expire and we will lose the tickets and the money to the company. I am actually not sure if they have balloons . . . They say they go up every day . . . Hmmmmmm . . . Been waiting for years . . . Been booking for years . . . Hmmmm It seems to me that they should ask for a deposit to go up and then get the rest of their money once it actually happens. Several people have just given up and forfeited their tickets (which are not cheap) rather than deal with the trouble. (If you do not book 3 times within a year, you lose your ticket - no refunds). I hope your experience is better than ours if you decide to try them out, but just be cautious of the game that you enter when dealing with them . . . I hope this helps make some decisions . . .
